Moderator's Report

Walter is unable to control car after hitting invisible object.
Whilst the race admins try to check that the 3rd party add-ons to P&G are error free sometimes things get past us.
No blame on Walter and no penalty. Racing Incident.

  • Walter Connadvice — Hits mystery track side object

Goldtop gets his braking all wrong at Mulsanne corner and wallops Johnny X. Definitely Goldtops fault but Johnny has asked that no penalty be given and we respect his wishes. Lucky boy Goldtop!

  • goldtopadvice — Lack of skill at tough corner. Victim has asked for no penalty to be made

Looks pretty nifty GT and Tony  Cool might be worth me reinstalling it all just to race those babies  Smiley
DO NOT RE-INSTALL FROM DISK ON TO EITHER WINDOWS VISTA, 7 OR 8. IT WILL NOT WORK AND WILL PROBABLY STUFF YOUR OS.

Use the digital download from Steam £4.99. I believe you could enter your original online code and Steam will give you a free download but you may have to Google for more info. It also may have been a temporary offer which has now expired  Sad

Yes I should have mentioned this. I did actually run GTL from my disk on Vista with no problems, but it was quite a complicated procedure to do this iirc and not recommended.

Just checked and you can still use your original online key code to install in steam. Just click in steam on the bottom left 'add a game', than click 'activate a product on steam'. There you type in your product key without the dashes '-'

I tried out the Gulf mk1 Gt40 briefly and it's such a sweeter ride compared to the mk2. It's a joy to drive, shame it loses out too much on the Mulsanne to be competitive with the mk2's. Don't know why the latter car feels so unwieldy in comparison to the earlier car though  Huh
But if anyone wants the Gt40/LM experience then the Gulf car is the one to go for and you have more chance of making it to the finish than all the wrecked mk2's ! Shocked

Re: GTL I had a look back over a couple of races and it seemed a very low turnout, like 6 drivers, so nothing like the fuller grids we are enjoying here. Not enough to entice really despite you guys obvious enthusiasm for it and some good mods available.

Were your times that much slower with the Gulf MJ? I know this version has less tight corners
but the Gulf gets round the corners way better, and has some brakes, in the VLM70 version
the GUlf was a couple of seconds faster even though it was 5-10 mph slower on the straight
The MK2 is not fun to drive anywhere there are turns, and the gearing is nuts compared
to the Mk1 and the Gulf.

About 4 secs slower than my mk2 times. But I only did 3 laps in it and one of them was the outlap ! 3.40 but I've also only done 7 laps in the mk2 (3.36) so I hope I could find a bit more time in both.

Looks like this race is linked to the 70-ies track config.
Perhaps better link it to 'Sarthe (1968-71)' or even earlier because otherwise the track records are obliterated.

Hey no worries Mark. When we get 20+ grids we'll be sure to let you know.

Chortle.... and how do we get bigger grids? err the more people join the more people "will" join
I do the GTL events whenever I can, and some of them are serious fun
I didn't like the Escort/Mini series as I could not drive either car, but the Fifties series was huge grin stuff
(even though I couldn't drive those either ...) Come and have a play, the water's lovely  Cool

Roll Eyes  It wasn't meant as a 'diss', more a case of me thinking its a lot of installing/configuring/updating to do to run an old game for a small turnout. Already painful enough in the GTR2 modern GT racing where sometimes only 5 or 6 turn up to race  :'(
Though I wish P&G also had some of the great mods that are available for GTL, at least we are getting 20+ drivers weekly to race against which is great fun and gives most drivers someone to fight all the way through the field.  Smiley

Tail end Charlie reporting in... I'll be there tonight for my first ever race with a pit stop. Gulf GT40 for me as it is a nice drive, probably DQ about halfway through when I suddenly find out I've forgotten what to do for a pit stop.

I'm still finding new ways to crash and get stuck on this circuit!  Angry

I'll let you know when I think that I have discovered all of them!
