People have other things to think about these days....
Shall I create some series for next year? if it's just me and Clive turning up then I won't
bother  :P  He can go play with his little toy RC cars  ;D

Well if you do can I have some heavy metal pounding around the original GPL tracks?  I think it would work well and perhaps if we have a tame I.T. bloke  somewhere ::) we could create UKPnGRank.  There is so much missing from the original, and highly successful, GPL formula!

It seems the same for the P&G races at GC & NG, we get the people turn up to race, but there is very little discussion in the race threads.

Anyway, as I'm limited to Group B, is there any chance the 1300 WB could be an option for Group B. Haven't tested it yet, so it may not be any faster than the 1600, but it gives me another option.

Yes to series next year, so that makes 3 of us!

In the AI races it's the 1300 WB that often shows up with fastest lap!  Faster than the 2000!

I think you can count me in for most races next season.

Having taken this long to grapple with these beasts and get some kind of performance that allows me at least to compete ( sometimes) I feel that I am owed the opportunity to develop. ;D ::)

Yeah Matt,

Altough real life has gotten in the way more then once this season, i reckon you can count me in too for PnG for next year!

Already did some laps in a GTam to get a feel for the track. Looks like a nice combo to me. With these cars there should be some proper close racing.
(ehhmm does this event need a lobby switch as with GTL?..)

Count me in for next season too  :)
Should be alright for this weeks race too though as usual not done a stitch of praccy  :(

Can we have a 70's car series on some proper tracks next season as one of the championships? Seems a waste we don't use them enough. Two of the best races from this season had them in IMO. Think it was a1-ring in the faster cars and barber park in the slower.

OK, thanks for the input, I will create some series for next year until it's just me and Clive  ;D
Clive suggested a series using the sports cars we used at Mexico on the original GPL tracks?
I plan to run an American V8 series using American and Australian tracks
I might do Clive's old sports cars at GPL tracks, with maybe a 911 variant in there somewhere
I will probably do another UK historic series as that one seems popular.
I like 4 series as that mostly fits into a month.
I will have a look and try to figure what you mean MJ, we use 70's cars a lot, which in particular?
The series will probably be along some driver limit method like Tony does
I just can't spend hours testing cars anymore next year, I like the LCC series as that is an easy
admin for me, so something along those lines may be in there somewhere.

We will be using the Simbin lobby until we need to change, as per the race anouncements.

Oh. The 1300 WB is usually very fast so I didn't include in group B

If you need some ideas of which cars are comparible with which Matt, take a look at the groupings we used earlier this year for the GC P&G races. Plenty of match-ups available there.

Thanks Geoffers, yep I tried to use those lists originally, but the groupings are so wide
for what I was trying to do, that they didn't help much. I was trying to get closely
matched cars at particular tracks, but at other tracks my well matched cars were not
matched any more  :( It's a good check list to start with though I agree.

How about a series, where you had to choose your car at the beginning of the series and then stick with it for the whole season?

Perhaps you could pick a car from a list of 10 reasonably matched  cars.
If the tracks are very different, the best suited car will most likely change from race to race.

That would make the outcome of the race and the series less predictable, and it would give us the chance to specialise in a certain car.

Imagine if some of the aliens made a poor choice of car,at the beginning of the series and would then have to struggle very hard in most races in order to be competitive. It just might be fun for them too!

I like that if it results in people taking different cars. I suspect that most people
will take the best all rounder, like an RSR3.0. dunno, could be worth a try.

I liked the old Legzy Dollars where you have a budget to spend and have to use slower cars as well
or you run out of "Dollars" I also like Tony's system of 3 or 4 drives per make.
Those things require me administering them but, that might be less time than testing cars
at each track as I have to do for some series now.

I like this idea. There's been a GTL series at nogrip for the last few years that has been doing this, and it really gives you a chance to get to know a car and develop a setup for it over the course of the season. It makes it much more rewarding in my opinion, but I suspect Stig and I are in the minority :(

How about stick with a single car, but have championship table based weight penalties to close it up a bit (more admin effort required though).

Imagine if some of the aliens made a poor choice of car,at the beginning of the series ............

LOL  Fat chance!  That's why they are aliens!

But I endorse the idea.  With a range of tracks there will be a range of best cars to be in.

People joining half way through could be a pain unless the track types were to be well mixed up throughout.

Could do with knowing the tracks before we start and any obvious "all rounders" should just be left out of this series.   Thimple!

Picking & sticking with one car for one of two/three/four series could make a nice change. In UKGTR2 we do that & you can (if you want) have one free change of car (a 2nd change costs points).

In fairness, I don't attend so much these days as I don't get the same enjoyment from the more modern cars that seem to be the preference now. So your better matching the wants of the regulars than me, I'll just show up when I'm sucked in by the combo of the night anyway :)

I have taken part in the NG series John talks about, but whilst being really keen on the idea at times, I have also found myself getting bored with driving the same car all the time. I would prefer to have a choice of maybe 5 or 6 cars & limiting the number of times you can drive each one.

If we are having the LCC series again (which I hope we do), maybe we could extend the number of drivers who have to drive the slower car to 5 or 6 & have the difference between the cars a little greater to give the slower drivers more of a chance to be near the front. I suspect this race will be more like that, I'm nearly 4s slower in the 1600 Alfa than the 2000 GTAm.

You are doing a great job Matt, whatever you decide upon, I will be there. ;D

You are obviously too quick in the 2000!    ;D   I saw Federico at about the 1:57 mark so you must be doing low 1:53s in the 2000.

It's about two seconds difference for me in race trim and I haven't seen a 1:54 yet!

Helpful words guys  :)
I was wanting to do the LCC again next year, It seems to produce some good racing, as the faster guys
have to work harder to win, and sometimes have to mix it with lesser mortals like me  ::)
And it's very easy to do, I pick a track I think suits the cars, and then pick cars that are around 1 or 2 secs
different, ideally a different variant of the same model. I try not to make it too different as that might put
people off, but the intent is that the same people might win, but not easily.

Yep, best in 2000 is 1.54.1, best in 1600 1.57.7. Actually we raced the 2000GTAm here at NG a few weeks back & my best then was 1.53.9.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Probably because the game crashed when it switched over from quali so I didn't get to race >:( You're being too modest by the way - the lapstats thingy at GC says you did a 53.4 in quali 8)

I can't make it tonight but I'll have to see if it saved a quali replay for the soggies, should have a setup as well ;D

Still, it was a fun race, caught up with the back of the grid just when everybody was starting to loose grip.
What happened to you Matt, I saw you had to pit as well?

I hope not.  I'm not as quick as you lot but I'm for ever being handicapped along with the aliens when what I need is a split between me and them!  It is difficult to gauge because at the start of a season you never know what the field is going to consist of.

I suspect this race will be more like that, I'm nearly 4s slower in the 1600 Alfa than the 2000 GTAm.

From the results it looks as though that was down to your being in the wrong 1600 Alfa.  Federico seems to have found a quick one that even PnG doesn't know about!

You are doing a great job Matt, whatever you decide upon, I will be there. ;D

Agreed!

St Jovite
Strangely enough, I enjoyed tonight's gallop.  I enjoyed having a faster car than Geoffers and Federico too!  ;D

Evil gave me a fright by closing to within 1.5 seconds but then, thankfully, he dropped back a bit after a while.  Dan was a bit feisty at the start too.

John sent SBRC his setup but I didn't use it in the end.  It was too close to the race to start changing the way that I was driving and it seemed to be heavier on front tyres than my original setup.  I was faster in off-line practice than in the actual race or qually and don't have a clue as to why.

Congrats to Evil and to Federico for his great result in the 1600.

Race of two halves for me. Enjoyed the first 20 minutes and had some great battling with Matt whilst also closing on Dan and Geoffers ahead. But from mid race on I succumbed to my man flu and started feeling really hot and unwell and lost my concentration. I then just dropped place by place until I was stock last  :( retired on lap 16 as was done in by then.

I mostly enjoyed that  ;D As said, had a great first half dicing with MJ then Geoffers and Dan had an off and I was in 4th
slowly gaining on Fede (though there weren't enough laps left to think about maybe catching) Then the car started to
stutter and realised it was running out of fuel, i had set it over what XD said but it needed more
Should have just done a splash and dash, but hit return and it proceeded to fill the tank and change all 4 tyres..   :o
came out after a 72 sec stop.

I really enjoyed this race. Glad i could make some time for PnG again.
Found it hard in qualy to settle into a groove, but managed a good start off the line. I had Hotkeys, Matt and MJ behind me for some laps and probably held em up a tiny bit. Then my pc started to freeze, dropping framerate to 7 fps at turn two and three. Eeeekkss!
Was waiting for the dico, but it recoverd itself strangely. I hope i did not upset the guys behind too much.
Now i was chasing MJ and Matt and following their lines the track came to me better and better. Now i was enjoying the AR around this tiny Nurburgring-like track!
Looked like some of the frontrunners had a coming together as Matt and I sweeped by. Now i had Geoffers and Dan on my case and i could just see Matt in the distance, when to my suprise i noticed Matt pulling into the pit. Inherited 4th and managed it to the finish. Nice result from EvilClive too!
Next week to Oulton Park with some cool cars..!

Firstly, thanks to The SBRC for some setup help prior to the race and the advice about how to protect the front tyres.

It actually worked too well, because I eased back mid race when I thought I was using the rubber up too quickly. I had to push hard to squeeze past Dan in the early laps and then put in some clean consistant laps to get away from Frederico who remained close enough to take advantage of any major mistake throughout the race.
That was when I let Clive Loynes go as I was afraid of screwing up my safe 2nd spot in the final laps if I pushed too hard, too soon. As it turned out I had ample rubber left and I could have given Clive something to think about had I maintained the pressure  :-\ But I doubt that I could have matched his ultimate pace and gone for glory without something nasty happening to both of us  ;). For me the tyre wear aspect of PnG is something that I still have a problem with, maybe next time I am going to go for broke and see what happens lol!!!

It has taken almost the whole season to slowly and painfully adapt to the PnG physics from years of GPL immersion, but finally I think I am getting a grip on it..... maybe. So I hope that there are more races next season so that I can join the fun.

Grats to all the finishers and thanks for the fun guys.

Very enjoyable race in a car which, oddly, I've hardly ever raced before in v3.1.

5th place at the end was about where I should have finished. I could have been 4th if I hadn't spun off, but then again I wouldn't have been 4th if Dan hadn't had an off. Had a good many laps in Dan's company & it seemed the 2000 was not a lot faster on the straights than the 1600 but understandably had more grip in the twisty bits.

Congrats to the Clives & Federico.
