Track guide, replay and setup:

http://racingleague.co.cc/hikiwaza/track-guides/one-lap-of-monsanto-park-in-mclaren-m2b/

While practicing and remembering the track, I also remembered my race ended up with a screen freeze back then. Hope this won't be the case this time. Has the track been used in leagues and/or tested online?

Oh, I also figured out what causes audio to go out of sync during some recorded laps - drop of FPS during recording! It happened once or twice on this particular lap, so despite readjusting the frame rate before compressing the video, it's still out of sync in the beginning.

There seems to be no racelist on iGOR tonight so we will have to connect via IP. More info in iGOR chat before the race.

Btw I might no be a little late, but I will be there.

race password isn't working for me

Tim forgot to change it and ran "test" as a pw. I was hoping he posted that detail in here, but apparently not.  :-\

Massive appologies Phil. I totally forgot to put the new password in here with all the rush of sorting the server out sans iGOR  :-[

Sh*t happens  :(.  Maddog missed it too.

I had to take my son to Judo hence I was late and missed preamble in chat.

Pity I quite liked Monsanto but probably wouldn't have lasted the distance on PRO.

Tim announced the IP once he fired up the server, but I guess you were not on at the time.

Nice race. I had a horrible start and went a bit wide in the hairpin.got someone up my side and lifted to let him in front.then came another and another....until Al I think gently let me "reenter "the race.after some laps I was chasing dave for several laps. I managed to acc a bit hard in the hairpin and was sideways. 10 seconds to catch.I was up for it cause I wanted him to sweat for his podium. Down to 3 secs and  like 4 laps to go I for some reason wanted to shift gear faster than lucky luke. (like I save time on that.) I kinda hit the metal between 4 th and 5 th as I released the clutched, and when I got it down to 4 th a split second later I allready started the turn and released acc and I span.pure error not to be mixed with my complaining about the slippery 3 rd that I have fixed. Guess I was a bit heated. didn t hit anything and continued to a nice third. comiserations to Tim whowas unfortunate with so few laps to go.

Another pathetic performance from team pie eater aka soggie bum's .

Loved the track,  even though it did rattle me dentures 6 or 7  times per lap. Just getting the hang of things when I finally went a bit too high up the grass bankng ( wasn't sure if it was part of the track ) made a grand exit,  loop de loop with twist , dont remember much after that except waking up in a strange bed watching the final laps of the race unfold .

Grats to H's great drive in the Mac , commisarations to Tim whose Brabby also danced the wall of death and succumed to the slippery slopes  :)

very high mortality rate (4 finishers) probably testament to the nature of this track , think it needs more presicion than I have available to do a "quicky" and loads of concentration to do steady fast lappery  ::)

That was a really tough race! I never expected Tim and Evil to come so close after sandbagging before the race, but was even more surprised when they rocketed away after the start (I dropped the revs too much) and set off into the distance, more than 2 seconds in front!

For the first laps I had the slight advantage of using Evil's distant but decent slipstream to keep up, but then he sadly got stuck (or so it seemed) in the haybales in T3, so for another 2 laps I had no slipstream to help me close on Tim.

Perhaps I was being overly cautious with the engine ealry on, so I decided to push a little bit more and managed to close in somewhat on Tim, but just before I was about to get proper slipstream, he spun in that slow left hairpin in the middle of the lap and handed me over the lead.

For a lap I thought he would've had dropped quite further back and let me relax, but he had recovered just 4 seconds behind and was pushing like mad! I started taking really big risks to keep up and then to slightly increase my lead, but it never went over 6 seconds and then settled back down to 5 for many laps.

Passing backmarkers had its problems when I was catching them in narrow places, so that compromised my speed somewhat, but everyone was keeping their line and there were no bad surprises. I had 3 very close escapes - twice on the exit of the last corner, going too wide and almost clipping the haybales, and once when I clipped the haybales on the inside of that 2nd gear 90-degree left hander near the end of the lap, and that put me into a bad angle on the exit, but somehow I kept it going straight.

As the fuel load came down I managed to break away from Tim a bit more and increase the gap, but even so I kept pushing right until the end. Raising up the suspension a bit seemed to be the right decision, but it also made the car a bit slower after half race distance, so I could never get into 51s as I was hoping for.

Grats to all finishers and comisserations to Tim who, if he didn't spin out of the lead, might've been impossible to pass. Great pace, Tim! Evil as well looked very fast and it's a shame he had to drop out so early.

Feeling quite pleased with myself for a change.  ;D

After getting over the initial disappointment of realising I wasn't actually that quick (should have already accepted this!), following Tim and Hristo revealing their fantastic speed and seeing several others were also a bit faster, I managed to pull something out of the bag.

Made a good start but played it fairly cautious and managed to safely make up a place or two.  Everyone that I saw was also driving watchfully and impressively made it through the inital challenging turns in one piece.  Then on the approach to the tightening bumpy right hander (where Clive got stuck in a bale) I managed to half spin putting the nose on the inside which sent me to complete the 360, but continue after losing several places.

Spent the next few laps catching and passing Al, Fulvio and the King, who all thankfully gave enough room and then I settled into third position.  Clearly H and Tim were in another league, so I kept an eye on Kinghiro behind me and aimed for consistency.  However he was not going to make it easy, was clearly pushing very hard and kept me very much awake!  I pushed as hard as felt fairly safe and kept the gap fairly constant until his incident gave some welcome breathing space.  After a few more laps I was exasperrated to see he still hadn't given up and closed ground once again!!    Anyway, managed to hold it together and with a lap or two to go also inherited 2nd place from the unfortunate Tim and even managed to finish on the same lap as H which gave a little satisfaction in itself!

Congrats to Hristo for a fine win and to Tim for also having such tremendous pace.  In awe!

Sandbagging??!!  lol  I was being absolutely honest pre race, in saying that the best lap I had managed was a  high 1:54. I had not raced or driven this circuit before Friday night and although I memorised the sequence of bends realtively quickly, dealing with those bumps gave me a real headache.

With a choice between the Lotus barge or the BRM barge, I chose the Lotus purely because I had a setup from somewhere else that had worked ok once upon a time. It did not work at Monsanto  :-\ but you gotta start somewhere so.....

I tried all sorts of ride heights and suspension settings to try and smooth out the potholes but with no great success, so concentrated on getting a race setup that was half comfortable.
Prib promised a potential 1:55 up until a short session on Sunday, when suddenly a 1 :54 was possible but 1:57's were reality!!! Obviously it was more to do with my approach to the track rather than the actual setup.
I actually rasied a few gear ratios to try and tame the sudden smack of torque that was throwing the tail of the Lotus out in the most inopportune places and it helped.

I was feeling reasonably confident of scoring a few points in the race. I did not expect to match Hristo's pace but thought I might have a chance against Tim (and the McLaren of Hristo might just struggle for sheer grunt if I was lucky) Early qually was encouraging with Hristo posting a blistering pole time and Tim not far behind, Goran was fast but a 3rd or 4th grid slot looked possible. Then a few of you posted some quick laps with about 5 mins to go!!

Went out for a banzai lap and promptly sent the car into the scenery.....tried another  and did the same.....time running out!!!  OK take it very careful on the out lap and brake early for every bend on the 1st flying lap. "nd lap with about a minute to go and nailed it. I actually improved my previus best by almost 2 secs I think to post a 1:53 and 2 rd spot.
The start almost went t*ts up when Hrsito bogged down in front of me and I had to jink out around him with the ass of the Lotus trying its best to overtake the front wheels!! But I was in 2nd and right behind Tim's Brab.
Hrsito some 2 secs back and he was not closing noticeably ( craft sod is playing it cool and saving his engine!!), Tim was pulling us along at a jolly pace so I was content to sit in for the ride. The trouble is when I relax too much my mind wanders and yes I missed my braking point for the hairpin by about 25mtrs. That was just ( only just) enough to take me slightly wider than was wise and find yet another bump, frantic pedal work and gear changing almost saved it, but the rear wheel hooked those sticky magnetic bales and my race was over!!!
I was really really miffed! :-\

Grats to Hristo and to Dave and Tom.....commiserations to Tim.

First, thanks Tim for starting the server, I just got Anderstorp when I tried to. Also, I am sorry that I did not post the "new" PW here, I should have, it just slipped my mind.

I *successfully* scrolled the chat for an IP, but was apparently not a V.I.P!!! ??? . . . *EDIT*
As for the IP-address, you can always find that in the Race announcement post, if you ever should need it again.

My own race was way too short, only nearly 5 laps, then I parked my car in a haybale, not that I was the only one but still it sucks. It was purely out of lack of focus, I was in 3rd position and had like 10 sec to 4Th and Tim and H in front so I just took it a little, well, a little not-keeping-the-pace-and-focus-up, and my mind wondering. I mean what can I say other that I should have learned by now that take it safe is not the way to go if you like to stay in the race.

I was watching the rest of the race from different cars and I was really impressed by the way H drove the whole race on the limit, or so it seemed to me anyway. I mean even the last laps, after Tim`s very-sad-to-watch-misfortune, allmost a lap ahead of second position still he did 1.52`s.

Grats to H for the win, Dave and KingHiro for podium and Fulvio for finishing.

Göran

My final 3 laps were within .2 of a second of my FL - think thats what killed me though as I didn't have space to correct my error :hammer:

Trouble is I wasn't actually pushing when it happened  ::)

Wha'dya think guys , was he pushed or did he fall  ::)

There must be a moral here as I too did my FL and a PB on the final lap of the recent W Glenn race . I to was "taking it easy" maybe we should all take a pre race tranquilliser or 2  ;)

I don't know about you, but I always like to try get my fastest lap on the final lap. It usually works, but it's a probably a reckless thing to do.  ::)

I was sober for Monsanto - but had inebriated myself before the previous two races.
Drink driving is obviously preferable in GPL world as I finished both those rather well  ;D
