Have they supplied GTL templates then? Are they on the CD like GTR's are?

I don't know exactly what's on the CD's and the GTL templates I don't think were supposed to be released but GTR2 is now made by Simbin i.e Ian Bell and co. I'm sure they will see to it to release templates and car files. They did it for GTR, they released templates and a little later the .car files right? If it's a licensing issue then it would have existed for GTR too and they wouldn't have released them.. who knows!! I'll send out a bunch of emails. I think there are only licensing issues when new cars are added i.e McLaren F1 ect. So really they could even get in trouble for these cars being added, but more than likely they have agreements to protect them, something like - We do not support third party addons, we only support addons for the vehicles already present in GTR ect ect.. Only reason tbh is cause they can't be arsed, which is unlikely given they will be doing 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 and 11........

Alledgedly they released them by accident for GTR. A bit like putting the wrong dedicated server into 1.5.

I noticed on results that my 996 is named 911 and also the 996 I was in i'm fairly sure uses Yokohama tyres but on results it says Dunlop.. well it has Yokohama sponsor on bonnet - it's the Seikel car. There must be a list somewhere of all tyres used by different cars?
996 is the internal model name for what is sold as the 911.
I don't believe that GTR has any actual Yokohama tyres modelled - I think they cheated and reused the Dunlop model for Yokohama-tyred cars. I'll check when I have time.
Yep, thought so; it may say Yokohama on the graphics but inside the .car file it says: HDVehicle=996gt3_Dunlop.hdc Description="Porsche Teams - 911 GT3-RS" So it's really got Dunlops on and its public-facing name is "911".

Guidelines are fine. Regulations aren't .. regulations are an important part of a society and/or an organisation. They have their purpose and are usually for a very good reason. They provide structure and stability, they promote a caring authoritative atmosophere which harvest's a sense of well being to all members within an organization. There is always the case of there being too much or too little.. too much and you exhaust interested/potential members, too little and you discourage the enthusiast. WTF!? Are we talking gaming here or wot?! I like to see driver names on number plates or wotever else. I also like to see Sharks or Penguins on windows. Please keep it this 'free' way. Bloody hell, enough regulations and rules in normal life, let's not start in my virtual one or I'm off! T P.S. Proposing something is fine... Saying what u want to see and what should be done is not...

This has turned into quite an interesting conversation. So this is a form of escapism for some? Blah!! This is not escapism for me, nor relaxing. It can be satisfying but rarely.. and takes alot from me both physically and mentally! Not to mention financially, it's not every day you spend a grand on hardware for a mere game! No, i'm in this for the buzz of real racing - which to me is rules, regulations, hierachy, democracy and of course racing race cars.

I know a bunch of pixels pretending to be a car when I see it.

I'm not keen on putting too many details on cars anyways. In race I don't see them (I'm focusing on who the driver is - skin helps a lot; where is he positoned on track and how to overtake/block him). To see all the details you have to go to the showroom, which is nice to see. But only for a few minutes. I admire your work, guys, you're great artists and enthusiasts, especialy Rich who GTRMAN-ded it together, but I don't think it should go further than that. Maybe an update of minor overlooked things, no more. I feel great driving the car in the team livery, but would not want to impose on the guys to work more on the skin. As Tyf said, lets keep it simple and have fun with the game, not be frustrated with an over-regulated monster. Hell, I have that sh!t at work!

Steady on old bean, all that was suggested was that car numbers and windscreen banners be in a standard form, which helps both with recognising cars, and looks good on screenshots and videos which promote the league. It's not like anyone suggested banning pictures of penguins, sharks, seals, sea cucumbers or any other marine wildlife. I do try hard to keep SimRacing.org.uk's rules down to a minimum, and only include things which improve the fun factor of the league's championships. I don't think anything has been suggested on this thread in such a way as to imply that it was anything more than the author's opinion, so please, everyone, let's not get too emotional about it. Tears and keyboards can lead to electrocution!
