The 911 IROC seems to go quite nicely here. Grin

just did half hours worth, down to 1:26 so far in a yankee muscle car. Have raced here before i realised when track loaded up. Think we did a fun race? here in GTR2, not that i remembered the corner combos. Will have to get my time down during qually.
Great fun sliding the beast around with all that welly but a lot of frustrating little straights where dont get enough time to enjoy the acceleration before hitting the anchors again for another tight corner.
Think a few will be hitting walls in this one too !  Tongue

If you can afford an IROC then good for you! (I certainly can't). Most of the muscle cars don't work that well because they are heavy, and all the corners make them pay a huge penalty. The cobras though are powerful(ish) but light, and the lack of long straights means that they don't suffer from aero or outright power limitations. In theory the etype 5 sp is in with a shout, but it is not as easy to extract the performance.

Was really enjoying that. Very intense racing!

Also great to see 9 different cars across the 19 drivers, nice one Cool

Qualified 8th, was upto 4th with the brute power of the cobra & held there till Dave & Paul had a little rub ahead? That gifted me 2nd, but I didn't hold it for long. Fell back down the order to 8th again. Then climbed a couple back to 6th. Then had a good lap with JPV who was catching me from behind for a few laps. He managed to get past & as I followed him into the 1st chicane he broke very hard (nursing damaged car already?), where I don't brake at all & I was straight in the back of him. Shunting him into the tyre wall ahead Sad. I pulled up a few yards down the road to wait, but saw he exited his car so I did the same.

My fault, should always allow for others possible braking, sorry JPV. Embarrassed

Quali'd mid grid in the 914. Had a decent start and made a few places through first lap incidents. Had some nice battles with Matt, Blunder and Legzy but evening was spoilt by me misjudging my braking and spinning round Matt. Very sorry Matt, wasn't even trying to pass at that point, hope there was no damage. Sad

Eventually put it in the wall which led to damage, which then led to putting it in the wall again leading to further damage.......lost interest and decided to call it a night.

Well that was great fun, if something of a comedy of errors. laugh
Qualed 3rd with an OK time. had been doing half a sec quicker in pre race prac, had done a 22.2
but either kept catching traffic, or didn't get a good one together, anyroad up was fine.
Was easily outdragged at the start by the muscle cars, then spent the next 20 odd laps stuck to
Manteos' rear bumper, I was quicker over a lap. but could not make a pass in the twisties, as he
stuck to his lines with great aplomb, Got spun by Goldie, no worries, no damage, just had to
wait another couple to get my chase cam view of Manteos back.
swapped paint slightly once, but otherwise was some good close quarters racing, had just managed to
sneak up the inside when he went a few millimetres wide only to come into T1 to find a rejoining Cobra.
stayed up the inside, but he had better speed into the 1st chicane and I got bumped off  Shocked
Got going again, caught up my shadow, and once more hung on to his bumper for a few
then when he had a bad run over the start/finish, I made a pass up the inside into T1, only to get a stop/go
for cut track  :'( arghhh
Heck, what do I have to do to make up one little place.  Roll Eyes
Anyway, was mostly good fun.
Ta for the organising, great job Guys.

Oh,My system crashed after the race and didn't get the replay, if someone could post it (Legz?) I would be gratefull

Immensely fun race despite all the mishaps. IROC Porsche was excellent to drive on the track, qualified 4th. Started carefully and gave up a couple of places just to try and be safe, but got punted around in the first chicane, causing a big pileup. Sorry to others who got caught!

Dropped to the back of the grid and had to work hard to climb back. Catching up was easy but getting safely past the powerful Cobras took some effort. After slipping wide in a corner and having to do it all over again, I eventually got up to 8th and had a fun battle with Legzy, until got bumped into the tyres which finally killed the engine. Waste of a good Porsche, but great fun actually overtaking others instead of getting lapped as is usual. Smiley

He managed to get past & as I followed him into the 1st chicane he broke very hard (nursing damaged car already?), where I don't brake at all & I was straight in the back of him.

That was actually my normal line through the corner, apparently not quite the correct one then. Tongue No wonder it caught you by suprise, no hard feelings.

Was shocked to be among the pace setters all through free practice. Thought maybe I'd snatch pole until I saw Jose's immense time, and when unluckily for him he got disco'd I inherited the front slot on the grid.

Was a bit worried about how quick the Elans would be off the line and totally failed to account for the heavy metal, which promptly game barrelling past in the form of Paul968 and Lele. Of course I was stuck behind them at least until my tyres warmed up, and after a couple of laps I was starting to get held up really badly in the corners and then struggling to even get alongside on the straights. Roll Eyes Cheesy

Paul was pushing really hard and I was alternately attempted to sneak past and avoid running into him. laugh He had a big moment in the final chicane and I tried to go round the outside, but unfortunately touched the back of him, sending him round. In slowing down I let the Elan's I'd been worried about past and had to fight my way back past them quickly before I started to lose the tyres, so I had to press on and not wait for Paul, which I'd have preferred to do. angel

In the meantime, Jose had shrugged off his grid demotion and almost as soon as I'd passed Lele for the lead (at the second attempt - had to give the first one back as I cut a corner doing it) he was all over me like a bad rash. I was destroying my left rear trying to stay ahead so was quite relieved when he slipped by and I could back off a touch and calm things down a bit.

Spent most of the rest of the race just trying to be consistent. Near the end I realised King was catching me quickly but with 2 laps to go I looked secure in second. Why then did I stupidly run wide out of the final chicane on the penultimate lap, bending my suspension and letting him by? Because I'm a plonker, that's why. Roll Eyes Embarrassed :'( laugh Had to stroke my broken car round the last lap - if I'd known Paul was in 4th I might have pulled over and given him the final podium place. Undecided

Enjoyed that a lot despite my stupid mistake at the end. Makes a change for me to be at the sharp end. laugh

another cracking race in p&G  thumbup1

Took the Shelby Daytona Coupe as it felt great fun sliding through the corners and blasting down the straights. Was sorely tempted to take the IROC at last minute as i tried it for 3 laps offline and beat my laptimes by 3 seconds instantly !  Shocked but hadnt had enough running so stuck to the Coupe.

Enjoyed a great race long battle with API in his Cobra. Battled my way past after many laps chasing and started to eek out a small lead. But got a bit sideways on a corner exit, tried to correct, but got caught accidentally by Goldtop? and span off sideways  :'( Then had to spend next 10mins closing the gap back down and chased API again hard for the remainder of the race with him only 1.5-2.5 secs ahead.
With the gap close and only 2 laps remaining i foolishly let Jose (race leader past) only for him to inadvertently cut me up at next left turn  Roll Eyes and i had nowhere to go except bounce over the kerbs and lost about 3 seconds so that ended a dramatic last lap battle. Sad
Great fun race though, finished 9th.?

The track looked awesome in the dusk light settings, as did the cars broadsiding through the faster turns thumbup2

Congrats to Jose and the pody guys  Cool

Don't worry about it Dave, it was just one of those things. If you get badly out of shape with another car nearby then contact is as much your fault (IMO), so I would not have wanted you to wait. Never quite got a good lap in qual (was on one but stuffed it at the penultimate corner), but 7th wasn't too bad given the cars ahead. Had a great start and swallowed up several cars, but Dave was pretty soon all over me, so much so that part of me was thinking of letting him go. Wish I had now, but hindsight is a wonderful thing  laugh I had a nice little battle with Lele a bit later on for 4th, but just as I was really closing in for the kill he must have got distracted and drove head on into the barrier on the left before T1 - spectacular! For a lap or 2 I thought about chasing King in his elan, but by then the tyres were going off and I was in danger of messing it up, so I settled for 4th. Congrats to Jose for the win and King and Dave for the podiums.

Quite enjoyed the track for the chance to chuck the cobra around, but it is so hard to see exactly where you are. Not that surprised by the high attrition rate that resulted, but at least it means I climb the table a bit  Smiley

Checked my replay Mark and it wasn't me.

I didn't realise until viewing my replay that with my last bounce off the wall I collected Ade which I think finished his race.  Embarrassed Altogether a miserable race then; wish I'd taken the more predictible fezza Sad

A fun, but also frustrating race for me, but my driving was all over the place at times. I struggled to keep the 914 on the tarmac in the slow corners and mid-race it lost a lap after an off putting me firmly at the back of the race.

Perhaps I should have taken an Elan, for some reason I thought it was too many points. Dunno where that came from  Undecided

I'm pretty sure that was me, I was driving a red 914 like Goldtop. I was just behind you & API, got a run on the outside of API when you careered off just in front, just avoiding t-boning you!

Well done to the podium, and apologies to anyone I tangled with!

ah okay, sorry Goldtop and no problem Tim, i knew the car was slewing badly so wasnt holding anyone to blame for collecting me as i must have been hard to miss !  Cheesy
That was my only error whole race but cost me the epic fight with API. Thats racing  Smiley
