looks like xp service pack 3 is the culprit for my problems For some reason i am now only getting max 25fps even offline and if i ride a kerb it drops to about 12fps It was fine offline last night, the stupid xp update happened about half hour before this eves race. any suggestions? Do i need to reinstall my nvidia drivers? (card is a 9800gtx). sorry to hear this MJ ,i run sp3 on XP as well and have no problems,i suggest to update graphic drivers and chipset drivers. Hope some tech wizzards here will have a look at your probs as well . jan i forgot, for those who want to experiment with mods, skins etc.just have a clean sim.org version running and make 1 or 2 extra GTR versions to try things out with.

Good fun that! Mt raceseat arrived yesterday afternoon and after 1.5 hours putting it together, I was ready to go by about 8pm! Unfortunately had no set up and no practice so would not normally have joined but wanted to have a go ahead of the endurance at the weekend! Managed a 1.42 in quali in my first 10 laps of the track, fast enough to not potentially spoil others races! Legzy came up with a set up at the last minute and off we went! Had a good race with team mate Legzy and JPV, for 15th! Managed 1.38's in the race so am pleased with that as a start! Must get lots more practice in before Sunday! Seat is excellent, although I'm not sure I am any quicker ! M.

A Google search reported a handful of people reporting FPS drop after installing SP3 but not a great deal about it. I'll just have to install the latest nvid drivers and hope they cure it. Really annoying after i had got the look just how i wanted it over several weeks of tinkering. Im getting as low as 12fps which means sp3 seriously fooked my graphics settings somehow and considering my spec

I ran SP3 for ages before I moved to Vista 64 without a problem and I doubt it's the SP itself. Something else running in the background or a configuration change, e.g. is your hard disk light flashing all the time whilst playing. It's possibly screwed up your driver configuration, re-run the 3DConfig of GTR2 first. Check the Nvidia control panel settings are what you expect.
Very difficult to diagnose without seeing the PC and looking at what's running or not and what's configured in what way etc. So many possibilities to list.

I've mentioned this before but as I think it's ace then ...
'Game profile'! do a search on this forum, free to download utilty which suspends all unwanted processes before you go online. Will NOT help your frame rates! but might cut down the possible causes!? Especially with the numerous problems with connectivity that various people have experienced?
Just a thought?

thanks for replies, but as i mentioned, its not just online, its now fooked offline. Was fine before SP3 install earlier in evening. (although having said that, i did have similar problem occur at Nogaro last week ..but had run plenty of laps between then and now with no probs) I keep my HD defragged weekly with Diskeeper and generally have background tasks switched off. I'll just have to go through the boring task of removing and reinstalling my gfx drivers.

Enjoyed my 1st 'upper sprint' last night having done about an hours practice on the circuit beforehand. Enjoyed trading places throughout the race with team mate Martin & would just like to say "he was lucky & I was robbed"

Cheers Legzy, will give it a whirl, but pretty sure its Nvid/Sp3 related. Always nice to know all the other crap is turned off though

That was a tough race, qaullied 3rd which shocked me coz on that lap i was running out of fuel and was spluttering across the line so i should be able to go a little faster.
Start of race went ok but i thought Brian would be all over me from the off but somehow managed to keep him at bay. Couldnt really catch RM the gap was at 1 sec nearly every lap until he spun and i took 2nd. Just tried to drive smooth as tyres were an issue but had one very scary moment when Steve Holmes car was stuck right on the exit of the last turn and i drove through it lol, that almost aloud RM and Brian to catch me as my car felt really odd for a couple of laps after hitting that stationry car, felt like i had damage and couldnt turn in as normal but it kind of cleared itself.
Last 10 mins was hard as tyres were shot and was sliding around alot but seems everyone else had similar thing so just drove steady to get a good 2nd.
Grats Busi and RM

Finally got a good run during qualifying and managed to get into the 36's but that still meant i was towards the rear of the field. I'd been suffering with my accelerator pedal giving an erratic response when trying to run with a constant level and i felt like it just got worse during the race. I couldnt get anywhere near my qualy time, and the accel felt like it was on/ off switch. Just as Prof was creeping closer after the first corner it felt like the car died, a repress of the pedal seemed to kick it back into life but it was too late, then it was a case of just trying to keep it on the track with out spining the rear wheels out of the corners. Maybe it was just the track but it was the first time the fronts were wearing more than the rears.
Luckily i had just got the newer hallmag pots for my pedals so started fitting them straight after. Hopefully i'll get them ready for thursday.

I read somewhere that GTR2 would not work on Vista 64, only on Vista 32.

Even GTL works on Vista 64, but you do have to follow instructions from RSC to do it and still use copy protection. Personally I use the NoCD cracks for both games so it's not a problem what-so-ever (the problem is only caused in the first place by the StarForce drivers).

Thanks Freq/Shark I was thinking about upgrading to Vista early next year, nice to know I now have the 64bit version as an option, and still be able to play GTR2.
