Thanks Phil.

Will get there if I can.
4652  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / Re: TFT Monitor on: March 01, 2008, 09:21:07 AM +0000
The Samsung is up and running.

It does have one duff pixel that is permanently green.  Shows up like a blind cobbler's thumb on a black background but you can't see it on white.

Has no effect on GPL whatsoever.

It is about a quarter of the way up the screen and about a third of the way across from the left.  Is this sort of thing usual or should I return it?

4653  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / Crash to Desktop on: February 29, 2008, 01:13:46 PM +0000
After such great success with the monitor question, here is another one.

I recently went through hell when I simultaneously tried to rebuild and install an old pc as a GPL server whilst upgrading my GFX card and just for good measure I messed up the sound card.

I think that I now have my pc and the server running properly but I am still suffering with crashes to desktop when online.  This is true of races that I join on iGOR as well as those that I join on my own server via the LAN.

My router only allows one Ethernet and one USB connection and since my server only has the Ethernet option I swapped that connection over from my pc and have connected my pc to the router via USB.

All appears to work until there are a more than a handful of people on the server.  Then it is quite likely that I will be disconnected.  It seems to be worse in qually than in the race.  If I can get as far as the race I can usually hang in there.

After all that background come the questions.

•   Is being on the USB connection giving me this problem?
•   Would a router with more Ethernet sockets give a better performance?
•   Should I have a separate hub rather than using the router to provide this function, thus obviating the need to use the USB connection?

Any ideas?

Ta

Many thanks. thumbup2

A Samsung is arriving tomorrow but I went for the 20" version.
4655  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / TFT Monitor on: February 28, 2008, 06:32:26 PM +0000
My monitor has just gone tits up.

I'm looking at these flat screen jobbies and would be interested to know if it's necessary to go for a 2ms response time for GPL or would 5ms be good enough?

Anything else I should look at?

I should have taken the Lotus 43 BRM 3 litre monster, I had several attempts at running that beast without any consitency and had plumped for the Eaglet which was rated slower, but which I knew handled better.

Hah!!!

Driving a girl's car just because the circuit is a bit tricky!  Tongue

Be a man and fight the H16!

Bully.

LOL

We don't need the server replay Chris.  With the server set on 3/384 we have all the cars on our client replays.

I think that if it is set to 3/84,3/132 then we will see enough cars for racing but will also ease the burden on the client's bandwidth.

Grats podium.

Was anyone else suffering strange graphics glitches or was it just me?  I am having some problems but thought that I had got the better of them.

Was the 3/84,3/384 a bit rich for the full server?

I was chucked out once near the end of qually and didn't dare venture back onto the track in the last few minutes in case it happened again.

At one point the two card in front of me disappeared but only that once.

Er.....

I would be delighted but since it's Mothering Sunday it may present me with an up hill battle.

Big family nosh planned.  Sad

Is that date cast in stone?

4661  SRou / Announcements / Re: Team Championship - how to make and join a team on: February 12, 2008, 07:35:43 AM +0000
Hi Dave,

In UKGPL some of us have effectively been in two teams at once, one of which applied to the Masters Cup and the other to Div1.  I refer to SBRC and Soggy Bottom Brabhams.

Whilst I think that the days of Soggy Bottom Brabhams are numbered I wondered if the fact that it had been arranged thus will give you any problems when migrating the old data to its new home.

Thanks for all the hard work mate, as always!

The server seemed ok for most people except Clive, do you have these issues on any 66mod servers Clive?

I will look into the loose grid thing aswell. VROC did all that in the past not sure if there is anything like that in iGOR. Otherwise I'll just have to get round to editing all the track.ini's.   Roll Eyes

Cu all soon,

Bully.

Hi Chris,

I think that all my problems are my own.

Paul Jackson does a handsome range of 1x1 staggered grids.  That's what I use.

4663  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / 66 Mod Race on: February 11, 2008, 10:33:01 AM +0000
For those who can’t wait until Sunday for their next 66 gallop, B.R.E.A.S.T.S. will be running a spec race at Brands67 at 10:00 GMT on Thursday night.  The car for this one will be the Lotus 43.

If you create a chat room called “breasts” on iGOR and password it “tits” then we can advise you of the server pw in there.  We run a 67 race before it so don’t be worried if there is nobody about.  We will be pounding around Zeltweg.

My rank is Nurbneutral so I picked a car in the next group up.

Trouble is that the H16 engine is the one my sound card really isn't keen on.
4665  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 15 Pre-Season Test - Watkins Glen - 10 Feb 2008 on: February 11, 2008, 07:39:46 AM +0000
So how did the handicapping work out.

I know that I was in the race, just but I have no idea how it panned out.  My current pc problems with 66mod meant that I struggled to set a time in qually, then I got chucked out (twice) and just managed to get back in when you lot were on the grid.

That looked crowded by the way.  Bully needs to put the loose grids on his server.

I joined from the pits with my sound card threatening to lock up any minute and did about five laps before it cleared.

Then I had a race but the server seemed to have me about five laps down. Huh

To cap it all the sound card had the last laugh and chucked me out again before I could get back to the pits.

Hence the question.  How did it go?

Clive
