Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

A very lonely race for me.  I was in no man’s land between the fast guys and the no quite so fast guys.

It got a bit exciting on the last lap because I had under fuelled  and had to potter round in 4th and 5th gear. I saw Bob M  coming up behind me and just had enough  fuel left to up my pace on the last couple of corners and scrape over the line. Very lucky. :sweatdrop:

Grats to podiums and all finishers.

Crikey ... That was quite something  :)
Quali started out well, P2 to Clive, but then a disconnect wiped out my time. Fortunately   I was able to rejoin before the session ended but there was not enough time left for me to get a lap so it was the blunt end of the grid for the race start.
When the lights turned green I made a good start and picked off a few cars in the first couple of laps but then, when entering the slowest corner, I selected first gear as usual but suddenly there was no drive ! I coasted onto the grass whilst fishing for a gear and lost a few places by the time I rejoined. Very strange ... my gear shifter has not played up before and it was fine for the rest of the race. Ah well ... time to set about regaining places. Eventually I found myself in P2 and closing in on Clive. He was getting tantalisingly close but I tried a different line into the T4/5/6 twisty bit and hit a kerb which pitched me into a half-spin. Off I went again in pursuit of Clive and was slowly closing the gap but then he went into the pits. This put me into the lead until I pitted a couple of laps later. I took fuel but not tyres and was surprised to rejoin in P3 behind Flash and Doni ... I was expecting to be in P2 behind Clive !  Eventually they both made their pitstops and so I was back in the lead and managed to keep the Aston on the black stuff until the end

All in all a very satisfying first win at SRoUK   8)

Congrats to Bill on a fine victory!  :)  My, but that Aston cooks along.

Great run by Fla$h to score a well-earned P2.

A bit lucky here in nabbing a podium as so many were well in the hunt but by and large, fell to misfortune.

Poor Evil...  I'd say that he had the race in the bag but trouble entering pit lane cost him a bunch of time and his 375 received significant damage.  I suppose that if Clive didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any at all.  What was that Mario Andretti said of Chris Amon?  'If Chris went into the undertaker business, people would stop dieing.'

I really enjoyed the Ferrari Testa Rosa as it handled well and even if down a little in the top end, I had compensation in reveling in the glorious engine note.  During the race, I had excellent duels with Matt, Erling and hayman.  For many a lap, we three circulated in close formation til the pit stop routines juggled the order.  I gassed up only...no tyres...and the last laps were a bit fraught with tension as I could feel the grip fading quickly.  Erling was closing in fast from P4 but ran a couple of laps short otherwise...

CYA next in the sunny Bahamas.  :)

I enjoyed that as far as I went. Was only just keeping the Aston on the road at times, had some minor offs
which meant i had to work back up the field all over again at least twice, I managed some very grown up
side by side stuff with Doni and Hayman, and had great fun catching and eventually passing Erling
only to find that when i went to the pits I had not set any pit board up down keys, and couldn't set any fuel amount
I had assumed it was like GTR2 where it puts in whatever is set in the setup, I haven't done a pit stop in GTL on this
system for a longgg time. I gave up and left after the 2nd fruitless stop.  :(

I was away on business all last week and returned on Friday with an almost terminal dose of man flu, which left me totally knackered and useless over the weekend.  :(

I did not even download the track until late on Monday morning and was going to take the Aston as the easiest option and the car most likely to be fast straight "out of the box", simply because I did not have the energy to bother about any preparation.
As I loaded the track for a couple of quick sighting laps I just happened to scroll through the cars and noticed the Fezza 375 and that 194mph top speed. " awww! what the heck, I shall have to use it sometime so why not try it around Interlagos!!"

Before I went on track I applied what has become my default mods to the setup for these cars ( each different car then needs fine tuning, but at least it gets the basic handling somewhere near usable). First lap out and I thought..."should have stuck with the Aston!", but i could not summon the energy to quit and reload with a change of car, so I tweaked the roll bar values and went again. First flying lap was 3:15, but I had no idea whether that was good, bad or totally hopeless.
Gradually dialled in the handling and got used to the early braking and getting the nose into the apex before winding up that glorious howl from the engine to 4 wheel drift through the corners.
I squeezed a 3:10 after about 5 laps and quit back to my armchair totally exhausted.

I should have refreshed my knowledge of pitstops at sometime but I didn't and that cost me in the race.

It looked like Bill and myself were set for a duel until he vanished from the quali session and I was left with a comfortable pole position. For once I got a good start and played it safe through the first lap just making sure that I did not outbrake myself and run wide.
The lead grew to about 12 secs until Bill made his way to the front of the chasing pack and started to eat away at my lead. I was not too bothered as I knew that I could push harder if I needed to and was waiting for fresh tyres after the pitstop before risking anything.
I still have problems working out the fuel usage and the info on the display, so I simply filled the tank at the start hoping to do 11+ laps and then I would top up again at the stop to be sure I would make 20 laps with fuel to spare. The tyres were looking good for the first half of the race so I would be able to abuse the replacements for the final laps if I needed extra pace.

All the planning went AWOL when I realised that I did not even know where the pit entry was!!  :-\ :-\ I totally screwed up my pitstop and race as I saw the entry and the green lights too late ( should have done another lap!!) and dived into pit lane. Too fast and out of control I bounced off the walls and damaged the car, plus I picked up a speeding penalty whilst going backwards!!!

I rejoined the race , but had to stop for the SnG penalty and was now back in the midfield, so I just enjoyed the drive and managed to pick up a few places before the end.
Grats to Bill who was pressing me hard before the pitstops and to Doni for gently easing his car to the flag and to Flash for the final step of the podium. Considering how I felt and what a total Holicks I made of the pit stop I cannot complain.
On the up side I now have a setup for that Fezza that works for me, so I am slowly getting to grips with these beautiful cars and the way that they handle....thanks to Tony for this series.

My favorite among these cars is the 250 TR; sounds fantastic and handles so sweetly - if only it had more power...  However, on this twisty track that seemed to be less of a disadvantage, so I took the opportunity to drive it for once  :)

As Doni mentioned, the first half of the race pretty much was me chasing Hayman, and Doni chasing me. A couple of times Matt stirred things up, when he worked his past us in the Aston, in slightly haphazard fashion  :o.   Towards the middle of the race, Hayman went wide onto the grass, going uphill towards start/finish. I promptly followed suit, and so did Doni, fortunately  ;D We didn't go quite as much off as Hayman, and thus got our momentum back up sooner, passing him in front of the pits.

A couple of laps later; end of lap 11, I did my pit stop and thus broke off the fun. Had elected to change tyres, as offline practice had shown them to be very worn at the end.  Changing them takes 25 secs, and I figured I could easily lose as much time, if not more, in the remaining laps on worn tyres - especially if I went off track as a result.  Another argument for changing them, is that tyre change is always selected on your first pit stop in a race, and thus you save the time needed to deselect it.  Still, I managed to get confused over the cursor position, and cycled through tyres change/no change and fuel several times, before getting fuel amount adjusted.  Bit of a shame, as I was catching Doni fast on the last laps, on his shredded tyres; if only I had had those wasted seconds...  :)

In contrast to the first half, the 2nd half of the race was completely lonely for me - only towards the end, did I spot Doni up ahead.

Considering the company, I can only be chuffed with bagging 4th in what is supposedly the slowest car.

Grats to the podium and commiserations to Matt & Clive (sacking your pit crew sounds a bit harsh, after your explanation of what actually happened..  ;))

Cheers,
Erling

Hi all

yeah, that was a good race. very fine gentlemen-driving here. I enjoyed that a lot.
1. Time I drove that Fezza 375+, very nice car. I was really astonished to find myself on place 2 after quali. :P
Some epic fiights, as mentioned above, and always very fair.
In lap 16 i did pitstop...................damn, should practice this.................
I did not want to change tires, just filling up some stuff for last 4 laps. pitstop took 45 secs, and in XD I saw: they changed tires, damn crew................
on pitout I pushed limiterbutton a little to early and got s&go, damn NO.2  :D   and pit again 11,5 secs
So int the end place 8 after long time on 4th...................tz                 tz              tz
but anyway, real good fun for me with you fine guys.

cya next monday
greets hayman

Lol yes, I was wondering who your passenger were  ;D

On the other hand, the driver of the 250 TR disappears in various places around the track (maybe to pop up in your car ?  :))

I'm not sure which Ferrari 375 it was but one of them sporting a riding mechanic/navigator gave me a start at one point.  In passing me, the navvie flipped me the bird.

Clive & Hayman...  Dear me...  Such sad ends to your efforts.  Thanks for posting the details.  Both of you were really hosed of a good result.

BTW, special mention to B2 who was really sharp in letting lappers through with a minimum of muss and fuss.  TY, bud.

Pit stop was a nightmare for me, crept up to my mechanic but no pit board after about 4 attempts reversing got the board, on exit penalty was a bit mift and tired so just waited for the DQ. I like having longer races but def going off pit stops.

Grats to Bill on win
Grats to podium

Hi Tony Thanks for info, did this (It's always worth practising pit stops off line to find out the best place to position your car etc and to see what the pit lane speed limit is.) and pit at Interlagos is marked on tarmac, prob my speed was to high as lower kept stalling the car.
