I have just caught up with this thread and was surprised to see that I might have triggered this incident. I was not aware of any noticeable contact with anyone, but I have not reviewed the replay to check. Maybe later I will d/load and take a look.

It was in fact a very light touch Clive, but unfortunately enough to throw me off course and into Matt, who only needed a very light touch to spin him round.

Curious; haven't you got your own replay(s)?

Not wanting to get into a bun fight, we normally avoid discussing incidents in the forum... but..
From the replay, what I see is: Clive gets up the inside of Erling, and shoves him into me
and I get sideways blocking the track. Tony is involved, but he's not the initiator
Erling has a go at pushing me straight, intentionally or not, but I end up nose into the corner
blocking the track.

As I said "4 into one corner doesn't go" I could say Clive was the initiator, but he wasn't doing
anything that anyone else would have. Just a racing incident to me.  tank oops

Hmm, not sure I am talking about race one.  Roll Eyes have to check

Oh, bye the way. I put some money in the old server pot, no reason Dave or Pete should
carry the burden on their own.

No, you're talking about race 2.  My disagreement with Tony was in race 1.  He's submitted a moderator's report, so we'll take it from there.

In race 1, I was summarily punted off at T3, with no waiting or anything, dropping me to the bottom of the field.
Replay shows that you turned into me at Graham Hill bend. I had the racing line and did not move across the track into you.

Have to disagree on that. The racing line goes from the right side of the track, turning left into the corner, clipping the apex.  That's the line I was on when you came flying up the inside.
Ok, not the racing line, agreed. But I did not hit you.

So you're saying my car jumped off the track by itself??   I think you need to rewatch the replay - and it's race 1 we're talking about, in case there's any confusion.

Tough races as always in these cars.  Would like the address the thorny issue of driving standards, which I feel are hitting an all time low in this hotly contested series.  In race 1, I was summarily punted off at T3, with no waiting or anything, dropping me to the bottom of the field. So much for qualifying 2nd.. My 80% controlled rejoin created more problems for Matt than I realized at the time, so not beyond reproach myself. Apologies to Matt for that.

In race 2, I was bumped into Matt at T2, spinning him round. The culprit steered around us both and slipped away..  Again apologies to Matt; was out of my hands.  Tried to push you back in the right direction as best I could.  When Daz exploited a backing off moment by me to avoid hitting Matt again, and zoomed past, I was once more at the back of the field, having to try and work my way through.

I know it's hard to overtake in these cars, but can't say I was impressed by things last night.  A reminder of the normal courteous driving habits in UKGTL is in place methinks!

I hope Erling's woes are not related to mine!!! Bad luck E, not a nice feeling sitting on the grid with zero response to inputs......been there and done that too!

It was clear that I have an issue with my accelerator on the Fanatec pedal set. I think that it feels mechanical rather than software related. possibly it needs a clean up on the pot? The brake is a pressure pad and not a movement based sensor, so that should be fine. Has anyone else had any experience of Fanatec pedals and cleaning them?

I think mine is a flaky connection in the wheel's USB cable, as the cable is breaking up around the connector.  Have looked at Thrustmaster's available spare parts for it, but can't find the cable.  Seems crazy you would have to scrap the entire wheel because of a faulty cable.  Maybe time to get that Fanatec wheel, but with probable upcoming retirement from racing, it's maybe silly to spend that kind of money on a wheel.

Have pedals from Fanatec myself, but - knock on wood - not had any problems with them yet, so can't advise on what to do.  Have noticed a few times when I was behind you, that your brake lights were on in places I wouldn't expect it, so maybe part of the problem, or another issue?

Lost my controls at the race start, so no other option than to quit  censored

At least it was on a Silverstone version I well and truly hate, no matter how much praise SkySport's commentators are heaping on it - apologies to all you Brits..  Wink

A hectic 1st half and rather lonely 2nd half.

Got the jump on Clive at the start, which was both good & bad, as would soon have to deal with his advances in the quicker car.  He barged through on L2, sending me wide at the end of the back straight, which put Matt right up my tailpipes. Blame Clive for that, but running wide in the following corner, letting Matt past, I could only thank myself for..  Wink   Long battle ensued. I could lap faster, but not find a way past, as there were nowhere where I had enough advantage to attempt a move.  Could only try to put max pressure on & hope for a mistake somewhere.  Eventually Matt apparently let me past on purpose.  Courteous, but uncalled for, as it was a completely fair fight.

Debated whether I should change tyres or not, not knowing what Matt intended. A change takes around 20 secs, but you also have to deselect it, so realistically you may save around 15 secs by skipping it.  Elected to change after all, expecting to be able to reel in Matt again, if he didn't change (But would I be able to get past?).  Seems like he changed as well, so never became an issue.

In one lap I bit out around 5 secs of the gap to Clive, which was highly motivating!  Thus pushed as hard as I could in the 2nd stint, but it was of course a fluke, as most laps the gap would increase or at best hold.

Clive: No-stop was not even remotely an option in the Supra - 24 laps was the most I could get out of a tankful.

Grats to Daz on yet another win & to Clive for 2nd.

Clive: I upshift well beyond the red light if possible, but just before hitting the limiter, as hitting it is bound to slow you down.

Race 1: Fairly predictable result. Geoffers running very wide in one of the first corners being the only thing to upset the order of the Universe. Gifted me 2nd temporarily, but he had enough laps to make a comeback and grab 2nd.

Race 2: A surprising and hard fought victory for me - perhaps too hard.  Apologies to Geoffers for 1st lap contact. Wasn't aware you were there, and chucked it down as a racing incident.  In retrospect, I should maybe have waited.

Daz ran wide same place as Geoffers in race 1, letting me past. Matt having a small off made it easy to pass him on L1. Clive spinning out of control same place on L2 gained me another position, but I was very lucky not to get collected in the process.  Next a battle with Tony over several laps, while trying to fend off advances from Daz. Tony defended resolutely, promptly plugging any Ford sized gaps I tried to poke my nose into.  Finally made it past in T1.

Next a hard fight with Daz, not giving any quarters.  Some contact, but not sure who was responsible for what.  Didn't think I did anything wrong in the final one, which resulted in a spin for Daz, so didn't wait.  With that the order of the Universe was disturbed, robbing Daz of the almost certain victory; very unexpected.

Grats to Daz & Geoffers for victory & podiums, and apologies again for contacts on my conscience.

Btw, thanks to Daz for again making his setup available.  I tried it briefly, but it was evident I would need more time to adapt to it, so stuck with my own which I at least knew well.

Geoff & Kurt; sorry to hear about your troubles.  Hope you both get better soon!

Finally a track which, if not directly suited for the Sierra, then at least wasn't hopeless for it.

Race was intense, if almost static, apart from the first couple of laps. Managed to tease Daz a little, by stealing the lead when he bogged down at the start, which is sooo easy to do in the Sierra.  We swapped positions a couple of times until he made it stick.  Subsequently he only stretched the gap very slowly, and I got the distinct impression he was 'controlling the race', just staying sufficiently in front.  About the biggest red cloth you can wave in front of me, not that I could do anything about it - went as fast as I could.

We both pitted on lap 17, when the gap was up to 9 secs, but the stop closed it again. In stint 2, it never was much more than around 4 secs, apparently because Daz had to save fuel.  Had a decent gap to the cars behind, so 2nd wasn't threatened, unless I screwed up.

Grats to Daz on the win & Matt on the podium - and thanks for providing the server!
