Thats a shame Picnic. Not a lot of choice on the possible days we have to run these, as the race schedule's are rather full :-\
We will have to see what suits people best if we get it off the ground.

I should make this race, but I often work on wednesday evenings, so if this gets the Race 07 day I won't make alot of races  :-\. Dunno about mondays for some people?

Good luck with that Don. Unfortunately, I can't make Wednesday's either.

The GT3 cup is run on Mondays. When we were asking about the GT3 though, Saturdays were the second most popular requested day in the poll that was run.

True but IMO the GT3 cup simulates Race 07 with the raceprocedure etc. And I think Race adds more variety to the racing.

Looks like I'll miss this but I want to register my presence in spirit - doubly so should any championship be scheduled for Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays! :laugh:

It's a heck of a lot bumpier in the F3000 than the Caterham. I feel like my teeth are going to fall out. ;D Seems to really stick the ground in the fast stuff and then struggle round the really slow stuff. Seems right considering the amount of downforce these cars must have.

Any setups for this, and any times to aim for?

IIRC Don and I were both lapping in 1:43s last week so probably 1:40. :laugh:

My fastest lap so far is 1:42.6 with the setup that comes with the game. But it's too forgiving to be fast :-\

I think the best I managed so far in the F3000 was a high 1.44.
I know Ruskus was 2 or 3 secs quicker.

High 1.44 for me.Would be interested in any setup info as I have no idea at all how to set them up.

Can you download custom skins and use them for this race? I thought I saw something about that being possible and everybody else will see you?

In theory you should be able to use any skin you like, and if other players have the same skin they will see it, otherwise they will see a default.

I've not managed to actually make a custom skin yet but if somebody wants to upload a few somewhere then some people could download them and some not and we'll see how well it works. It certainly sounds promising...

Had a quick practise yesterday, sounds like I'm 2 or 3 seconds off a decent pace. Nice track and car combination.

I should be able to finish off the Legends F3000 skin today all being well, in which case I'll post the link to the zip here.

1:44.7 is my best so far though I'm sure I could get into the 1:43's if I could string a lap together without making a mistake! That was using the stock set-up with just some very minor tweaks to the tyre pressure.

I hope we manage to get a glitch-free race, it's a bit concerning how many people seem to be experiencing the countdown bug :(

Got down to a 1:44.1 last night - had a big moment though .... should have been a bit better.

Looking forward to racing ..... fingers crossed that the bugs don't stop the show.

If you want to use any of the skins, let others know so they can download these skins as well and see them in game, or else you'll just see a default.

I'm in the same boat, have 5-a-side on Wednesdays normally so I can't make it.  I'll try and make a few if/when the series gets under way 8)

Still haven't got Race '07 yet, maybe buy it at the end of week when i've read the post race comments!

dl off Steam as we speak, may even have a quick go at a skin (amongst the GTL ones!) so hopefully have a little race tonight.

Atleast this gives me the time to skin my first skin everrrrrr. ;D Never even used Photoshop so I need alot of time :P

Finally get my game and the lobby is down  :'(. Not a great start.

Thought this combo would be a good place to start offline and gotta say this track is a stunner. The fun of those quick left handers is caught rather well I think. And the elevation changes are very good (accurate?). The F3000 is certainly more fun with the downforce reduced but I have some reservations about the physics. Riding the kerbs, in those last 3 slow corners for example, just feels wrong. If you take too much kerb there is no sensation of loosing control and scrabbling to regain it. Instead it just seems to decide to chuck you wide, even to the same point on the track, every time. Its more an automatic response than physics at work for me.

Still, its fun so far and I've only tried the F3000's  :). Even better, I quickly did a 42.5 which sounds like I might be competitive.

Need a racing fix, don't suppose we can arrange a time to take over a server and race only amogst ourselves? Don't care what we race. Sunday or Tuesday evening would be best for me.

Managed to get down to 1:43 last night in the F3000 at Istanbul, but the on the edge of grip physics just don't seem quite right. Maybe it's the default setup, but it just feels a little odd.

Felt the same here Simon until i put the springs ,  Bump and rebound up a few clicks.. got down to a 1.42.032 in 3 laps. Made the car easier to to turn in on the fast corners and just nail the throttle without the car feeling un- settled. give it a try mate.

I dunno if they have changed the F3000 since the demo, or if my dislike for Brands Hatch tainted the car for me, but I'm really liking it around Istanbul. After about 15 laps I've managed a sloppy 1:44:6. Hardly lightning quick, but a hell of alot closer to the rest of you that I have been in the past. Given how many apexes I missed on that lap I'm sure there's a low to mid 1:43 in me, so either I'm starting to get the hang of this driving malarky, or this car suits me. :) If I'm not working the evening of the race I'll try to join you.

Instead of our normal sprint race, I'll be braving the public servers on Tuesday. Anybody else around our normal time (8ish) to make the experience more bearable?

I'd fancy some FBMW fun if a server is available.

 :) getting more used to this car/track now, down to low 42's, that corner is a beasty! didn't realise that the track is soooo bumpy tho!

Slowly getting the hang of this now, down to a 1:44.6. Should be able to find another second if I actually hit some apexes.

Using Dan's setup I know I can get down to a 1:42 at least, although I haven't managed it yet.

The FOV is really wierd in these F3000s. Gonna have to work out how to change that so it doesn't feel so odd.

Its even better following a car through there. Absolutely took my breath away :) Good couple of races with Ruskus and nice to cya sorted Pete, at least you weren't getting booted as a cheat for a change :)

Going back to the F3000 and Istanbul after quite a bit of Race and they feel even worse to me now. Although that might be track specific as they are real fun at Oschers and Valencia, just feel ugly in Turkey  ???. Give me the WTCC bimmer or FBMW anytime.
