An I ask you a favour please? Can you change my name from Arthur to Artur or just Art if it's easier. Cheers. :) I so wish I had a £1 every time someone done that. I would be living it up in the Bahamas. ;D Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Syd Drake on March 13, 2008, 02:37:10 PM +0000 ;D
Done. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Tifosi312 on March 14, 2008, 01:57:08 PM +0000 I do not see how I have a been given a car with a -50 Rank considering I do not have a 67 Rank.
I would be prepared to take the Ferrari 246. Also I think your ranking of the cars is way off in some instances. The Eagle Climax is a pretty good car at anywhere but Monza and Spa and yet you have it for the aliens. The Macca is definately one of the slowest cars. It would be much better to work out pit stops for each race and have a free chassis choice. paul Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Burtoner on March 14, 2008, 02:18:55 PM +0000 why am i down as a Cooper T81 if my gplrank is -11.4 I should be taking the Honda RA273/BRM P83?
Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Syd Drake on March 14, 2008, 06:21:24 PM +0000 And here I thought this was a test race, where we can test relative performance of driver/car combos. You shouldn't look for the general restrictions for regular division members.

I think I should keep away from BRMs...... No probs Steven it was great fun (I didn't need a shift R or it might not have been so great). Syd needs to have a good look at the race pace (excluding incidents) and see what the chassis allocation looks like. Seemed pretty good for me. I managed to stay on the same lap as Lorenzo who was flying  I wouldn't expect to beat him in any chassis, not to get lapped was a result for me!Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Clive Loynes on March 16, 2008, 10:55:33 PM +0000 I think that I was doing OK until I came out of the hairpin on lap 2 and crashed to desktop before I reached the left-right wiggle.
I don’t think that it was a server or connection problem as when that happens you find yourself alone on the circuit before it all goes blank. In this case I could hear the chasing pack coming into the hairpin as I disconnected. I’m getting quite disenchanted with the whole struggle of getting my pc to run the 66mod. I suspect that the sound card is still the culprit, which is really depressing as I thought that I had solved that particular problem. Bugger it!!!! Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Kruger Enge on March 17, 2008, 01:18:29 AM +0000 The one thing I got wrong was under Network setup, server amount set to 384 instead of 132. I'm not sure if that could have knocked you out though.
Hristo had discos all throughout quali but after the race he said the same was happening on another server as well. EDIT: Just realized that Fullscreen box might have been checked Race was quite fun for me - I had an unfortunate incident with Ken; we both opted to go for the middle of the road at the same time. I bounced off and ended on the grass but luckily Ken was able to continue. I'm happy with this BRM Brabham but I was also happy with 246 Fez (naturally as I can do mid 49 lap in Mexico with it) Lots of fun with Phil and Steven there... Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Ken Murray on March 17, 2008, 09:52:14 PM +0000 I had an unfortunate incident with Ken; we both opted to go for the middle of the road at the same time. I bounced off and ended on the grass but luckily Ken was able to continue. Wondered who that was. I looked over my right shoulder twice (GPLShift enhanced look left/right) before easing in to the middle of the road to get a better sight of T1 and then I saw wheels tangling with mine. Sorry about that. Steven got me braking for T1 though, so I still ended up down the field. Then over the next couple of laps I kept getting involved with other drivers accidents. On at least two or three occasions cars came together right in front of me and I couldn't avoid running in to them. That left me way out of position as far as qually times where concerned and my problem now was that in a slow car I was up against slightly slower drivers in faster cars. I chased John for a number of laps and I was just left for dead on the straights, even with the tow. Eventually a little frustration crept in and I ran in to the back of him through the esses. I can see this sort of thing being a problem in handicapped races. Is there any plans to allow free choice if you elect to take a pit stop? Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: MikeBeattie on March 17, 2008, 10:31:23 PM +0000 I got better drive off the line than Lorenzo, with possibly the greater choice of a low 1st in the 6 speed box helping, and he held station into T1. The next lap I took a wider than expected entry into T1 and he was able to get by on the inside. At that point the war was over and he pulled away into the distance, his FL 2 secs quicker than what I can achieve, underlining the talent of the guy :)
On the disco and FPS front, there have been some issues with selected PCs over with the ADC when using the 66 mod. I'm using Direct 3D instead of Open GL and haven't had any probs, what are the guys who are having the problems using? As to the chassis choice, the variety of tracks will probably give some sort of equlibrium, the small cars good at the likes of Brands, while the 3 litres will rule at Spa, Monza and Reims etc. Looking at the WRs, the Aliens seem to be able to get them all round less than 2 secs apart. One thought is to give each driver the choice of two chassis ( a 3 litre and a 2-ish :) litre) before the start of the season and they pick one of those to run for the whole season. But Hey I'm a new boy so I'll happily follow whatever you boys decide :D Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Ken Murray on March 17, 2008, 11:35:42 PM +0000 Can't see a replay up yet? Just in case future historians want to correctly chart my meteoric, but probably short lived career :D Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Dave 'Gizmo' Gymer on March 18, 2008, 07:58:58 PM +0000 Err, I see the results have me down as driving the Lotus 33 Climax, just for the record I was actually in the Lotus 33 BRM. I don't know how I didn't see Kruger, he was alongside me all the way, I was obviously too busy looking back rather than sideways!!
I can also see one of the incidents I got caught up in was caused by Clive suddenly re-appearing at the wiggle, presumably in the process of crashing to desktop but leaving his car still spinning around in the game!!!! Title: Re: UKGPL Season 15 - pre-season test - 66 mod - Mexico City - Mar 16 Post by: Steven Foster on March 19, 2008, 08:48:08 AM +0000 ...but I got you later after the hairpin, didn't I ;)?
