Title: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Nov 8th Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 07, 2010, 01:08:20 PM +0100 In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!
This is what you do to connect to the server: 1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack) 2) Start GTL & select to the lobby 3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password) 4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers :euro: If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486 But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)). _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Were under starters orders for a gallop around Aintree (home of the Grand National horse race). Another Phil Gilliland creation" All members welcome. Grid/server capacity: 19 Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins) Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins) Race: 20:40 (20 laps = ~40mins) Track: Aintree Download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54520#post_aintree) Cars allowed: Mini Cooper 1310S Download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_Mini1310). Time of Day Setting: 14:00 Start: STANDING Tyre wear: Normal Fuel consumption: Normal Server: UKGTL RDs Password: see above (#post_event_password) Notes: (1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage. (2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=253;theme=5) (4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: This event has a 19 car capacity Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: phspok on August 17, 2010, 05:43:09 PM +0100 Good news and bad
Good: I now have a fully functional install of GTL thanks to some advice from Pele  Bad: I'm away next week, and Aintree is one of my fave tracks, but Minis? softens the blow somewhat ::) Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: Wiltshire Tony on August 17, 2010, 06:32:41 PM +0100 Don't blame me :P

Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: phspok on August 17, 2010, 07:52:28 PM +0100 Is particularly dear to me as I run there a couple of times a year, well only 3 corners at racing speed, and our "pits"
are the straight after the 1st road crossing. http://www.matt-rowe.co.uk/motor/vids/AintreeWet60-08.mpg Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: Wiltshire Tony on August 17, 2010, 08:26:52 PM +0100 Wow...........never seen inside a 2CV before :D
Nice footage Matt, but what is the car? Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: phspok on August 18, 2010, 03:15:00 PM +0100 Chortle. It's my previous 106 that is now a proper "Rallye" Road legal but very non standard
There's loads of old vids on my page, The new Ty Croes circuit ones are external and quite interesting. I am at Aintree again 4th Sept if anyone is around Liverpool, and has a couple of spare hours to kill There will be all sorts of cars, from my Humble 106 through Caterham types and ex F3 and other single seaters. Spectators can only get to see two places, the start (just after cottage) or out of country and into village village is a scary corner even in my little car, it's more banked than in the game, and if you get it badly wrong you are off across the grass into the horsey jumps, same story at canal curve/beechers. http://www.oldlinkssurgery.com/ACTIVITIES/Aintree4web.mpg Is my friend Dr Thorpe doing the same run in "Doris" his well modified Renault 5 turbo. Did you block the wheels at one point or is it just me? Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: BillThomas on August 23, 2010, 07:26:23 PM +0100 Can't get onto the server with either UK or DK versions of GTL.
Is it me or a problem? Bill Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Aug 23 Post by: Ade on August 23, 2010, 07:27:58 PM +0100 Having problems connecting to the lobby ??? anyone else got the same? just going to try it with my altbierbude install.

es gab Probleme bei manchen Leuten in die Lobby zu kommen. Lowspeed kümmert sich gerade darum. Der Server reagiert sehr langsam, deshalb dauerts! Many people are having problems accessing the Lobby. "Lowspeed" is looking at it right now. The server is responding very slowly so it'll take a while. 20.58 server has just been restarted... I will say in advance sorry if i dig up the grass at the end of the long straight as i seem to have trouble with the chicane bit .....lol Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Nov 8th Post by: BillThomas on November 08, 2010, 09:02:05 PM +0000 Very pleased with qualifying, new PB. Made a beautiful start, up to 3rd I think at T1. After that it went down hill as I got bumpted and passed by a couple of cars. Two more cars caught me and tried passing but didn't take chances. Went too fast into the chicane and lost the back end hitting the wall and damaging suspension didn't realize how band until I braked for T1 and lost it completely under braking. Tried but couldn't make it to the pits. Early bath again.

Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Nov 8th Post by: Wiltshire Tony on November 09, 2010, 01:04:48 PM +0000 Bit of a lonely race for me, as so many dropped out early on. Had some early battles with Bill and Demartini but those only lasted for a lap or two. Then I tried to catch up with Matt and Phil. Matt blew up and then the gap to Phil was to big to reel in. Just kept going to the finish.
Watching the replay, I saw that Ade wanted to make a big impact on TV so he crashed into the outside broadcast van near the final turn. It appears that I owe Bill and Tonny an apology. Approaching the 2nd right hander on the first lap I had given Bill a light tap. This propelled hinm into the side of Tonny and the force from that impact managed to spin Toony around. Neither Bill nor I waited for Tonny to rejoin which is regretable. In hindsight it looks like we should have. Sorry Tonny. Like you I only saw my race replay this morning and saw someone knocked me into the other car which spun - all I knew was as I wrote on the night "After that it went down hill as I got bumpted and passed by a couple of cars." Now I see it wasn't the same 2 cars. I knew a car was trying to go down the inside and I thought I'd given it room, which the replay showed I had, until Tony bumped me. :hammer: Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Nov 8th Post by: phspok on November 10, 2010, 08:49:25 AM +0000 Made a pilchard of that. I can't drive these 1310s. I struggle to keep it going straight, nevermind
round corners, sometimes it turns in, sometimes it shoots onto the grass inside or outside Set the brake bias to 63 based on other peoples settings, and nearly ended the race on T1 lap1 couldn't use the brakes other than a slight dab after that, I had been at 71 front and that was sort of drivable, at 63 the back just leapt out at the merest hint of braking. Had tried to adjust bias while on a straight, and the car wnadered off into the banking and bent the steering. Was all over the road trying to slow for the final chicane, and totalled it into the fence :o flame grilled mini, game over. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 10 Readers Drives - Aintree - Nov 8th Post by: petestenning on November 10, 2010, 01:26:44 PM +0000 Nationality now added .
Turn 2 lap one i had to come to a halt to avoid two cars blocking where i was heading lol. My race ended after several offs which damaged the car so much i had nearly a whole lap to try and get back to the pits , i have never struggled so much to keep a car , A) on the tarmac and B) in a straight line, finally i killed it engine wise out of sight of oncoming cars at the end of the main straight away. Phew everyone missed me . |
