Thanks a bunch to whoever it was that doesn't understand what a rolling start entails. Punted up the back end, shattered windscreen and nearly pushed into the car in front. Managed to complete all of about 50 yards of the formation lap. Not happy

i forgot about the rolling start tbh... not that it mattered because i was on pole, i slowed down at blanchimont for everyone to catch up.
dunno what happened to you tho johnny.
can we just not bother with rolling starts? im not sure it brings anything to the race tbh.

Thought at going in the pits first, but the car behaved on the formation lap reasonably well, so kept it going. Very annoying how fast the windscreen cracks with a rear hit

Config file from tonight's race bla bla bla strange, me and bob tested this for ages and anything under 35mph never cracked either windscreen, anything above that was hit and miss up to about 45/50 mph but after that it was everytime.

I've been out of the "chair" for a few weeks with work and other stuff going on. I was looking forward to getting back in the chair last night, especially at Spa. Hadn't had much time to practice and was pleasantly surprised at my quali. Then it all went pear-shaped. Lessons learnt all around. No hard feelings Bob.

Emm interesting to see there were a lot of best laps around the 7/8 lap mark, was this just coincidence?

Shame that the rolling start was a shambles last night. Some poor folk didn't even get to T1 on the formation lap. Then the leader doesn't even realise it's a rolling start until about 3/4 round the lap slows to a snails pace on one of the fastest parts of the circuit and we all brake like lunatics trying to avoid a big accident as he's weaving around at 5 mph. I prefer rolling starts, but until the game supports it or this is a serious series where everyone actually reads the announcement, I would drop it and just do standing starts. After the start it was quite good fun.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles at the start. Having said that, I'm a bit annoyed that having posted this in the race announcement and twice in pre race chat that the message didn't get across I have rolling starts for 2 reasons: firstly as an attempt to replicate RL where appropriate and secondly to avoid start line dramas and T1 shunts like we've had in recent weeks. The starting procedure in our GTR2 races has worked well here for years so I wanted to try this in AC. It doesn't work as well as it can do as we can't use the pit limiter (our GTR2 veterans will know what I'm on about here) so maybe it's worth going back to standing starts However we do it, the fact remains that we are having too many incidents and that means some drivers need to take more care. These are fun races and should be enjoyed by all.
