I am hoping that my race pace will be enough, but so far my best is 55.9 in the 904-6
Only done a few laps in each car, so I'll run lot sin the 904 later and maybe I can get the
times down a bit.... There is one corner in paritcular that fools me every time, after the
fast section you go over a brow and to a left hand hairpin that is way slower than I expect
it to be, I went straight into the fences there several times.

Oh yes, I know it well. That one and the left turn hairpin after the fast downhill bit, seem to brake too early but it's just enough to make it. Brake too late and I've overshot and into the litter.

Had some nice duels especially with Tony.... great fun it was, but 40 laps is just to long a race for me  Tongue

yeah nice one, disappointed I knackered my suspension & just couldn't carry on at about 3/4 distance.

Had fun with my pitting too, came in & left seconds later having not asked for extra fuel clown

Thanks for organising Tony & thanks for the memories Lawrie thumbup1

Tony, will you be letting Lawrie's son know that we held a race in memory of his father? Be a nice gesture.

Thanks for organising that event Tony, I'm sure it's the way Laurie would wish to be remembered and I guess he was up there watching it.  Unfortunately it's not a race I'll remember with any pleasure as I got "mugged", killing the car, on the way up to the first corner.

Apart from the over zealous starts by some, was a clean race for me. Followed Teamy Phil round for
some laps, had a half hearted attempt at a pass now and then, but after passing and falling off,
was happy to follow round for a while after all it was an hour or so's race...
eventually took evasive action into the gravel in the left hairpin to avoid a shunt as I seemed
to be braking quite a bit later  Shocked

Dropped back 8 secs or so after that, had given Sqrtr an easy pass into the same corner earlier
as I wanted him past and up the road, so I could continue the tussle with Phil, but Phil was finding his
legs by then, adnd I sat behind for a while watching Sqrtr try a pass and not make it stick more than
once  Smiley had been able to catch Phil earlier, but as my tyres went off I was running 2 or more secs
a lap slower, and came out of the pits the same 8 secs back, but then kept making errors trying
different lines, and even with perfect laps at best I could just hold the gap at 20 secs.
Looks like Phil passed Sqrtr near the end as well, so well done Pseudos  clap
Respect to Laurie for inspiring this event, which pulled in a great attendance  Cool

A big thank you to everyone who turned out to honour Laurie's memory. Especially Ginsters who I know hates races with pit stops. Thanks mate, nice to see you in GTL again.

It was my intention to create an event that most drivers would find challenging. So it had to be a track never used before in UKGTL, a long race with a pit stop, poor daylight and random grid. You've only yourselves to blame for the car choice as these were the first four casualties of the ECCC cut  Cheesy. All those who finished should give themselves a  clap

Nice to have the Dummers join us. Please turn up again for the next BSCC which should be a easier event in all respects.

I had a fairly quiet race. Did my usual "forgot to select 1st gear on the start grid" (did you notice i had pole again  angel) so was in fourth place by the time I made it up the hill. Then slowly slid backwards as more talented racers caught and passed me. Had a little disagreement with Hotlap when he spun me but he was a gent and let me pass him. By the time it came to pitting my car was almost totalled due to various off-road excursions mainly involving hitting barriers. Therefore when I left the pits I was lapped by everyone. Never made it to the finish unfortunately as I had that ghost track thing happen again where suddenly I was the only driver going around the track. Still I was enjoying the track so much I still kept going until the finish.

Hopefully we will hold a similar event next year. Until then it just remains for me to pass over the virtual trophy to our new champion Ade. Well done sir.  I Am Not Worthy

Smiley I had praticed this track a week before presuming that the TVR would be the best car for the job. Yes I suppose in Ade's case it was but Ade's in a league of his own most of the time so you don't count mate!!!  Grin I had set my TVR up really soft as this track is quite undulating but when it came to race day and seeing how much better most of the Porsche drivers were doing I did a last min panic grabbed an old setup for the German beastie and was still fine tuning it during quali. Any way the car felt really nice on a full tank and even better in the race.  Smiley

I was some where behind the the big stuff up during the start and as the metal parted in front of me   Shocked  Shocked  I went for it popping up in P6 I think? I seem to remember a couple of Elans being badgered by Phspok and after a few laps managed to pass all three.  Grin I was then in P3 but with some fast guys behind I thought it better to push on as hard as I could. I closed on Geoffers by tenths of a second, which felt really good as Geoff usually disappears into the distance, and eventually closed the gap to under 4 seconds before Geoffers went off on a left hand hairpin gravel bound.  Wink Its a petty Geoff I was hoping for a battle.  Undecided

Now in P2 with Ade 17 seconds up the road and holding station, but at least he wasn't pulling away.  Grin I pitted on lap 20 coming in almost side ways locked up trying desperately to get the speed down with the limiter only turned on midway down the pit lane my heart sank with a stop go for sure. Faffed around in the dark trying to find the key board (it was light when the race started) fueled and left holding my breath for a lap and yippee no "stop go" how lucky is that. Grin People in front pitted and I passed Ade in the pits and led the race for a while but as I said at the begging my car went best on full fuel and new tyres now it was on low fuel and old tyres. Ade caught me with JH close behind I managed to stall them for a few laps but they were quicker in the end.  Smiley So finished P3 but had a really great race with everyone driving very cleanly (except I guess at the start) Brilliant Tony same again next year please.   thumbup2 thumbup2 thumbup2
