I have never been in such a race in the less powerful car where it was anything other than frustrating not being able to make superior pace count. The only time you get to overtake is when the power car makes a mistake. That isn't really racing to me.
It does work in GTL Paul, one of its great strengths, and it would be ideal if the same applied in P & G as well. Maybe it will not though, and we will deal with that if/when we get there. Of course the other classes offer more exciting match ups but we are trying to iron out the most awkward class of P & G cars here.

Ginsters et al, not sure if you were aware of this but a new improved version 1.2 is available for Laguna Seca over at no-grip. http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=16483Could we update to that version ? (and update post 1 to suit?).

I can sort of see the point of matching up big, heavy, powerful cars against smaller, light, less powerful ones, (although I still prefer more even match-ups) but there is a limit to where this works. A GT40 isn't heavy - it has so much more power to weight than the others it can always make up for a slow corner exit by using more power. The power to weight figures are: GT40 mk I 0.41 GT40mk II 0.42 IROC 0.31 914 0.26 So the gt40s have 32% more ptw than the 911 and nearly 60% more than the 914. Of course the other classes offer more exciting match ups but we are trying to iron out the most awkward class of P & G cars here. OK, but the GT40 isn't in this class IMO and just creates artificially close racing because it acts as a 'Trulli'.

Please bear in mind that less talented drivers like to trade raw horsepower for stability. Makes us have our little battles at the back of the grid without falling off the track all the time If I can make it then will take the much underrated 914

I was barely able to keep the 906 on the track this week, & I'm not expecting the 914 will be any easier to handle?

Ian just to let you know I've had over an hour here, split into 3 visits, and had no problems. On my own apart from a few minutes with Paul - won't be able to try again unless my race tonight goes tits up. Won't be able to race here as I'm off Sunday, after my Antipodean GTL morning fix, to my daughter's to look after grandson and won't get back in time for Monday 24th. Should be OK for GTL on 26th. Mark thanks for your 914 setup for Mid-Ohio just adjusted the gearing and the coast setting to reduce lift off oversteer and it was great. Bill

I did see that but 1.1 is already handily on server and placed in dl section so we will go with that for now. I have used 1.2 (by mistake ) and it seems reliable so it'll get a look in at a later stage no doubt

oh bugger, i had deleted 1.1 and installed 1.2 Nay problem, will reinstall. The P&G 914s are great fun, real grunty little buggers. Yet another car that would make a great one series event

just managed to sneak some laps in at Laguna 1.1 1:41.7 qual using the IROC Evo 1 setup so far. Was on for a 39 or 40 but blew it on last blinking corner 1:42.5 Race (40mins fuel) " " I tried the Evo 2 setup and matched my race time, but i think generally its too stiff for Laguna. Motec agrees with me ! Its going to take a lot more laps to get some corners perfect with the right amount of steering and drift input, but it feels great trying ! Still need to mess with tyre temps too perhaps.

Graphically the track could be better, especially when one looks at Mid-Ohio, I am hoping & presuming that 1.2 version will be

So the dampers were all blue in Motec then Mark? glad my worksheets are of some use. They were indeed blue ,to be honest Madd, ive been using one i got from No grip by a guy called Spad. I couldnt get used to your one with the slightly distorted looking suspension histograms (different scale?) and lack of damper velocity graph etc that i am used to now. Good effort though mate I am still learning the dark side of Motec.
