crapola, i am obviously 'just not getting' the Elan as i can only manage 1:57's so far even though it feels like i am flying along. Never liked this car, even in GTL. What tyre pressures are you guys running? My fronts arent getting over 60 degrees despite reducing the front pressures and stiffening the front springs a tad. Love the track, Bet it would make a great mini, abarth & cortina race too

I can't race tonight as am taking the Mrs out, but thought I'd give this a go anyway as I liked the track when we were testing it in GTR2 over Christmas & the Elan is more my kind of car.
I used Madd's earlier setup suggestions (thanks Madd) & yeah, I thought it was pretty good. It's a drivable car & I think it suits the track well. Was able to get 1:58's, but I'm sure that there would be a little more to come off that.
This is a race that I would have enjoyed I think. More about driving then just 'keeping it on the track', which has been a P&G problem for me. I know my time wasn't particularly fast, but I was happy with it & I'm sure there would be others about the same pace. One other positive, for the 1st time in P&G, my frame rate was very usable, despite me not having touched the settings (low) from last time.
Good luck tonight chaps, I reckon you're probably on for some good safe close racing tonight.

I´m at the same pace than you Legzy. Only done a handful of laps but oilys setup suggestions are in use, thanks oily! Living in a hope to be there tonight despite my slow speed with Elan. The chicane people have mentioned is a big minus for this track, it applies to GTR2 version too. Last night I tested it with a VLN2008 Porsche and didn´t even touch the strip and went upside down front first!
How can you guys drive through it without getting airborne?

If you take a slightly wider approach/entry point it's fine Dyno. If you're still in doubt, watch an AI car go through it & follow their line.

Don't think I'll make this one, off work sick after the lurgy ruined my weekend. Would have had to borrow someone else's setup, after a quick practice I was down in the 54s but my soft front stiff rear 30/30 diff setup just gave me depressing power understeer, although less than the atrocious default. Just can't get enthused when you hit full throttle at the apex and and start running wide. I kind of expect a car with 180 horses and the weight of 2 matchboxes over the rear wheels to oversteer in every gear the moment you touch the throttle. Must be just me....

are you guys sure you are using the correct version of this track? Im not being flipped over or bounced off track anywhere around the lap. The only major bump i noticed is at the end of the curved banking and even that only gets you if you take it a little wide on the exit. Unless its me using the wrong version ? But i got it from the link.

It's there MJ, I got the track from the link and I saw the same bad bump, pitched me off wide trying to catch the car a couple of times. It's immediately after the kerbing on the left as you enter the chicane and then there's another bump by the right hand kerbing as you exit. Quite annoying since the track is lovely and flat there in real life, even though the day was wet I was pretty much monstering that left hand kerb at the trackday a fortnight ago.
Oh and the banking at the hairpin is WAY steeper than the version here, its been relaid over the winter from the look of it, dunno if they've changed the banking angle.

WARNING
There are different types of tyre available to each Elan, some have grippier tyres than the others.
The grippiest are on the 1966 (white spot), version, then the 1965 (yelllow spot) and finally the 1964 cars (green spot)
Ian are we to be limited to the versions we choose?

Don't panic! I was aware that the later models were faster (thought it was chassis improvements though ) No limits for this test race but if the faster gents want to take a slower one it would help me with something I have been cogitating.
