that was my worst qualifing ever hehe Tongue starting last...

Yeah, I think you can blame me for that!  Many thanks for trying though.

I'm completely stumped as to what my problem is - it seems to be related to the number of cars that are connected to the server as it seems fine with just a few.  All my graphics settings were as per the GTR2 freshly installed defaults.

How do I turn on the CTD trace?  I'll have to try connecting to some open P&G races to do some more testing.

Cheers, Ross.

Good race for me. Had a strong start and rocketed Wink myself into 3rd behind Ginsters when he's car stopped dead while accelerating down to T2 so that kind of woke me up!!! No collision, phew!!
Nice battles with Oily & Ade – I tried to maintain my 3rd place – but Oily and then later Jos where too simply fast for me. But 5th place and I'm happy….quali'ed 6th, 6th fastest lap? and finished 5th  Grin

Had an issue joining (booting as possible cheat message) but only when I selected the blue 275….once a changed to the yellow car I was able to join the server  Huh

I guess different Ferrari's have different tyre choice's? there was some chat on the starting grid about what tyres to use…. some drivers referring to 'Spots' while others numbers. (I ran the yellow Ferrari with matching yellow spots).

PnG2 is superb – for anyone with GTL & GTR2 it's completely essential!

Well i am a fan since first race to be honest.  yes
Well done SBG, for organizing last week GTL and last night P&G same track and car race.
Allowed us to verify and take conclusions in a more accurate way.
Wasn't a surprise for me tho, that undoubtedly, i prefer P&G. Sounds, physics, moddeling
and those dashboards, when we turn lights on... tt1 stunning!
However, as i said before, i will not quit playing GTL (how can i forget my first classic car SIM?)  winkiss

Unlucky SBG, i was aiming for another fight, as we did last week. Fortunately TT provid me hard work
for the second half of the race. In fact any of us could win. Minor mistakes from both from time
to time, allowed some side by side and sweat  sweatdrop driving, always clean and fair.  Wink

Last hard battle beetween TT and me (if my memory works) was in GTR2, i believe almost two years ago.
Was nice to duel again with you TT.  thumbup1

P&G rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Grin

Cheers

Bring back GTR2!

Race of two halves.
I was soooo lonely from lap one to lap eleven  sleep1, didn't see another single car (except Jos who came storming past) as the gap in-front increased by about a second a lap & the gap behind also by a second a lap  Roll Eyes

At the end of lap eleven I decided I'd park up & wait for team mate Lazlow (about 18secs behind) to have some fun with.
The remaining eight laps were good fun. He managed to find some extra pace & we were zipping along changing positions etc... till about 1.5 laps to go, we came together  Roll Eyes Grin & by the time we got going again the next group of guys had caught us. I managed (with some defencive driving) to hold my position despite my cars rear end doing its best to ensure my car was constantly turning left  laugh

Is the GTR2 install that's linked to your P&G patched?
So it's GTR2 version 1.1.0.0 (not v1.0.0.0 straight out the box). That patch was apparently aimed at sorting online problems.

Apologies Bill, for unceremoniously punting you off in qually. Very ungentlemanly.
Brakes are a bit more realistic/period in comparison to GTL  Embarrassed

Good fight during the race tho! Could not pass you and needed all arms and elbows to get in front of you.... just to throw it away again in the next corner  Cheesy
Pity you ran wide in the stadium eventually but must say the car was quite a handfull  sweatdrop

Thanks all for the fun race and sorry to hear of your disco sbg.

As you say the car was a handfull and we both have our strong and weak points and that's where the problem is qualifying - trying to find them.  The start was most odd I got away on the lights and moved up the field, then approaching T1 some cars in front disappeared only to reappear at or just after T1 weird sorry for any bumps.  After that all the faster cars passed me.  Alex had his moment then we had a beautiful battle for about 6 to 8 laps - side by side around some corners and I seemed to be able to get the power down earlier to get the line for the next corner - only for you to close up under braking.  Good fun until I braked a fraction to light and ran wide to lose 2 positions.

One rant, SBG can you declare lights mandatory for these races.  Some mid field drivers, in particular, had no lights.  As on the road see and be seen. I found in the closing stages difficulty in picking up these drivers, particularly on that section after T2/3 up to the hairpin.  I had a poor exit from T3 and lost momentum as I braked into the hairpin someone went roaring past on the outside to run off - if I can't see you I can't make it easy to overtake. (My old eyes need more light to see things than all you youngsters - eh Laurie!!) End of rant.

Seriously - lets try and help each other to enjoy the night's racing - not frustrate each other.

Back to back GTL P&G races here were suggested in order to compare performance.  I put in almost identical times around 2:9.3 and the cars handled similarly - this time thanks to SBG's setup.

Enjoyable evening thanks SBG for organising.

It may have been more a case of people losing their lights Bill. I got whacked up the jacksy on lap 1 so i assume both my rear lights would have been broken ?  I saw many cars with one or both headlights popped. The early laps seemed to have debris of broken mirrors and lights strewn across the corner apex's  Roll Eyes
Again...lets treat these like the real cars and try and avoid contact  Smiley

I could watch the replay and wield the stick of Damoclyes against all the dodgem drivers if the powers that be wish me to? Though as it was a fun race and for people to familiarise themselves with this superb mod its probably best to let it lie.

Agree Mark but with 4 front lights on the Ferrari (rear and brake lights) and a number of people on the grid who started with no lights on; the odds are that no lights switched on was the problem. All I was trying to do was ensure everyone had lights switched on - I wasn't trying to have a go at anyone in particular.  The example quoted was one stuck in my mind - not the only one.  Lots of drivers had lost some lights due to shunts but they could be seen.

Yep, clean install of GTR2 (didn't even run it), patched to 1.1 and then a clean install of P&G using the default install option.  New player profile created (no changes to graphics settings) and that was it.  Works fine off line and was working with just a few cars, but seems to CTD at session changes and then on login as soon as the number of drivers has increased.

I've since updated my graphics drivers (I've got an ATI Radeon 4850) so will see if that makes any difference although I can't think why that would only affect online racing in P&G and may try a fresh download of the P&G installer just in case I've downloaded some rogue version (very unlikely though I think).

Clearly something at my end though.

Cheers, Ross.

I would also run it with low graphics and sound settings to see if it makes a difference.

Yeah, I'd just left the settings on default and didn't really get a chance to try switching them down last night so will have to try that next time round or on another open P&G server this week.

Well last nights race, although oddly enough I quite enjoyed it, showed up a few previous 'unknowns'

1. the Fez 275 is too much for me, I point it and it goes where it likes   laugh
2. late evening/night driving is really hard on the old eyes (even though I was wearing my new Computer specs).   eek
3. someone must change the circuit layout for night races - nothing is where its supposed to be  surrender

As I was badly off the pace of everyone I hung in there for the experience - never been a quitter - but was determined not to get in anyones way when I was being lapped. Sure enough on lap 11 (as I anticipated) the front group caught me on the S/F straight so I moved to the inside to clear the way for them.  I thought they were all past as I approached T1, then as I exited a blue #92 swept by from the run off area (Jos).  Assuming it was my fault I apologised during and after the race.  Bothered by the fact I had not realised Jos was there and I could have ruined his race, I reviewed the replay this morning and feel a little less bothered as the reason became obvious -

Jos, please pay your electricity bill and turn your bloody lights on
 w00t whistling

Grats to the podium and thanks to everyone for putting up with me.

Mmmmmn, a bit good that one! Whatever the arguments for and against, there's no disputing that was a hell of a lot of fun. Really bad luck Ginsters, your pace was quite frankly disgusting in qually and you'd have been a dot on my horizon at best lol.

Grats PR and TT, saw you briefly but your pace was just too hot for me and every time I tried to step it up it got sloppy. Must say a big thanks to Paul for the setup, made all the difference having a really well balanced car.

Awesome battling with Ade (woohoo! and clean I might add! ;0)) and a continuation of the battles in practice with Keith. Brilliant stuff lads, thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, some top notch hard but fair racing.

Unbelievable drive from Jos, beginning to think that's the man himself behind the wheel with that performance. Really good of you to duck out in qually but I'm guessing you're probably quite glad you did, must've been a lot of fun coming from the back...could not believe my mirrors! Great little tussle towards the end, was getting intense!

Really bad luck Ross, hope we can get these damn gremlins sorted but great to have Tibs and Dyno bring it home still. Cheers TS chaps, apologies for the snoring ( in the zone! Grin) - and roll on next week.
