I hadn't even realised there was a new Donny, so obviously I got lucky like Simon.
That was a great race, I had the advantage of the Corvette admittedly (setup work consisted of copying my Sebring test setup, and then changing some tire pressures) but due to not bothering to really play with the setup I found myself at a very similar pace to Simon.
I just pipped him to Pole on the last lap of qually and then had a close race with him pretty much much flag to flag.
I managed to open quite a nice gap of just over a second in the first 5 minutes, but then missed a brake point due to reaching for (and missing thanks to the Rift) my TC knob when entering the GP loop section.
This caused me to miss a gear and also run wide through the 1st hairpin and put Simon right back on me.
He pretty much stayed there from then on, I made a small amount of ground again but found myself moving backwards slightly as the balance of the car started to change in the 2nd half of the race.
My response was to play more with the TC throughout the laps - the Corvette carried a lot of speed in the faster turns if I left the TC on at a high level of interference, but for the tight hairpins I dialled it right back to stop it interfering much and just squared off the exits heavily. That meant that while Simon could get very close under braking, I'd just walk away again under power as he had more turning to do before he could fully accelerate.
Good fun and the Corvette and Beemer sounded fantastic here, especially from the replay cameras
Well done podium and finishers, hopefully I can make the next race and try the RSR out - I haven't found a sound for the Ferrari that doesn't sound like a hairdryer so am happy to miss trying that for now....
