You get a much stronger impression of the gradient's and the turns seem sharper too.

Track not a problem, but the download for the car froze 4 times on the Media fire start page. Your getting the ads because I'm no longer paying for my Mediafire. In fact I'm slowly running it down. I'll prepare a google download and redo the download link this morning.Tried this morning on laptop and strangely my AV has identified Mediafire as a threat??!! infected with URL.Blacklist??? and a rash of pop-up ads? :-\ I have things to do today but will give things another try later EDIT: New link in first post. Please understand that my earlier comments were not intended as a moan about you or your system, but more a criticism of Mediafire and their operating/advertising ethos. Is anyone that gets their computer infected with these infuriating pop up ads for Macafee etc., ever likely to buy the product??? I cannot think of anything that is more likely to turn me against them ! . Anyway, I will d/load the new link later and hope to see you guys on track this evening ;) Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Hristo Itchov on September 15, 2021, 01:54:25 PM +0100 I just did a few laps of testing, to try set up the car and get used to it. It handles almost like the cars in GPL, physics wise, except braking is more vague and difficult to get a feel for the limit. It's also similar to the Jaguar in those other series we run, except this one has a lot more power, so it's tricky to keep it on the ideal line, plus the tyres have even less grip.
I experimented with just about every setting to try and cure the default understeer. It seems the main culprits are the tyre pressures and rear camber. Lowering the pressures and removing most of the camber at the rear seemed to fix the issue, though you still have to brake and turn earlier than with most other cars. The tyres actually overheat, a lot, with the middle part of the tyre going much hotter. You can't really fix this by lowering the pressures too much, as it kills top speed and makes the whole tyre overheat even more. I'm not entirely sure about the gearing. Tried both the longest (default) and 1 click shorter, and both have pros and cons depending on where you are on the track. For now I'm staying with the shorter option, as it works a bit better through the 2nd and 3rd gear corners. The fuel consumption I got was 13.95 liters per lap. The tyre wear is very high, so the last 2 laps are going to be a struggle. Best time so far, starting through the shortcut from behind the pits, is a 8:54.2. Lost almost a second in the first sector compared to my earlier attempt with a different setup (longer gears, more oversteer), but then it got better afterwards. I've uploaded my setup (v1b) to the online database. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Dimitar Dulichki on September 15, 2021, 01:59:20 PM +0100 Thanks Hristo, I will definitely start my preparation with your setup and notes.
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Dimitar Dulichki on September 15, 2021, 04:50:20 PM +0100 57.0 from me with race setup but 2nd hot lap so i had fuel for 3 more laps after that. I made just few changes to H's setup - rear damper from 3 to 2 - all of them, and i set the tire pressure a little bit lower.
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: phspok on September 15, 2021, 08:29:24 PM +0100 So, I give up. Tried 3 existing installs and repeat loading, with everyone else in a Safety car
Did completely new install, same issue. Car is in the correct folder Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: EvilClive on September 15, 2021, 08:31:30 PM +0100 me too. I tried several re-downloads and fresh installs, but all I get is "car nor present on server" and dumped back to the lobby. Even though I get a momentary flash of my car on the board telling me I am in a Merc 300slr LM55 ???
Car and track work 100% offline ??? have fun guys, cya next time Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Dimitar Dulichki on September 15, 2021, 08:34:49 PM +0100 If you have problems, download this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17jlJnMU5ZzWAWGZLhxTsILCpBTuMNnck/view?usp=sharing
And first delete the following folder: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\GT Legends\GameData\Teams\LM55\Mercedes 300 SLR And put the download at the same place - LM55 Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: phspok on September 15, 2021, 08:36:13 PM +0100 This is not a steam install, and same as Clive it works fine off line
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Hristo Itchov on September 15, 2021, 08:38:29 PM +0100 I was having the same issue until 5 minutes ago. Deleting the car folder and using the download Dimitar provided worked for me. Before that I was seeing just a single car skin, now I see them all and it's OK.
Just delete the existing car folder in Gamedata\Teams\LM55, then copy/move the one from Dimitar's download link above. Hope to see you all on track. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: SpecialKS on September 15, 2021, 09:02:03 PM +0100 The losing streak continues - did nothing but got disqualified - as Robby too .....
But a nice track/car combo. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Robby82 on September 15, 2021, 09:24:50 PM +0100 So I had my PB in qualy and then got DQed. Not a happy camper.
Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Wiltshire Tony on September 15, 2021, 09:55:22 PM +0100 Sorry to Kurt and Robby. This track must still have some bugs so we will avoid using it until it's patched.
I'll try and get you guys some points as it was not your fault that you were DQ'd. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Wiltshire Tony on September 15, 2021, 09:56:54 PM +0100 Dimitar, was it the original Mediafire download that you shared to Matt and Hristo?

Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Hristo Itchov on September 16, 2021, 01:03:04 PM +0100 Sorry to Kurt and Robby. This track must still have some bugs so we will avoid using it until it's patched. I'll try and get you guys some points as it was not your fault that you were DQ'd. Isn't the the mod/car which is the culprit for DQs when the server switches from Q to R though? I remember it happened to me and Dimitar back at that Aintree race months ago. Something to do with mismatches in the car files. I still don't understand why I could only see a single skin of the car, even though I had all skin folders. Downloading Dimitar's version seemed to fix it, but I wonder what the difference is. Maybe I should run a WinMerge comparison between the two downloads. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Hristo Itchov on September 16, 2021, 01:06:57 PM +0100 OK, I think I found the problem. For some reason, all but one of the skins in that Google Drive download you posted, Tony, have their .CAR file name extensions modified to .xCAR
Everything else seems to be identical. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Nappe1 on September 16, 2021, 01:17:42 PM +0100 OK, I think I found the problem. For some reason, all but one of the skins in that Google Drive download you posted, Tony, have their .CAR file name extensions modified to .xCAR skins have been disabled with either Strava's Car tool, My GTLCarTools or one more car tool which name I can't remember right now.Everything else seems to be identical. It is standard way (renaming the .car file to .xcar so that game does not see it anymore) of disabling skins / cars since 2007 when Strava introduced the method with his tool and I implemented same method in my tool to be compatible with his application. Later on, same method was used in one more application. I can't remember Tony as it was few days ago, but yes, i downloaded something from MediaFire - the circuit or the car. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: SpecialKS on September 16, 2021, 05:09:21 PM +0100 I downloaded the mediafire one earlier on and had no problems.

Work commitments meant I wasn't certain I would be home in time, but I just made it. No time to try Hristo's setup unfortunately, so had to stick with my own. No chance of competing with DD and Hristo, and as I found myself in the no-mans-land between the two aliens & the rest of the field, the race was a lonely affair. Could only try to press on as hard as possible, to make it a little interresting. Grats to Hristo & DD, and commiserations to those who couldn't get it to work, or got DQ'ed. The latter has happened to me too once or twice; very frustrating to say the least! Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Wiltshire Tony on September 16, 2021, 07:54:15 PM +0100 Guy's
It looks like I screwed up (again). I don't know how but I did produce a download with all but one car locked. Sorry to everyone who was affected by my mistake. I promise to be more careful in future and I will definitely be checking download content before I post links. Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Dimitar Dulichki on September 16, 2021, 11:11:35 PM +0100 No worries Tony, we all make mistakes.
Amazing race. I knew we will be close with Hristo nut not that much. :) I made amazing second hot lap in qualy with new personal best and took the pole but H was faster at the start and was now the new leader. During the whole first lap i was siting behind him waiting for opportunity. And the opportunity came at the big straight when i overtake him. Unfortunately i lock the brakes before the chicane and he was back into the lead. And at the start/finish straight i totally lost focus and hit the barrier between the circuit and the pit stop ??? ::) ;D Fortunately as we don't have engine damage i was able to continue but with some less speed on the straights. Hristo was pulling away fast even though i was driving at 100% and i thought it was over. But i think he wanted more interesting race and he lost power and i was back behind him. My tires were better but still without enough power on the straights. So we had another great battle and we finish almost together. :) Grats to Hristo and Erling and sympathies to the gentlemen who had problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=645hmWgIlVo Title: Re: UKGTL Season 21 The Fifties - Nürburgring - Sep 15 Post by: Hristo Itchov on September 17, 2021, 11:44:43 AM +0100 Tough race. Dimitar was out of reach in qualifying and I decided to blindly changed the setup before the start, hoping it would give me a better chance.
I made a better start and then had to fend off Dimitar for most of the lap. He had a good run on me at the end of the lap, overtaking on the long straight, but then messed up his braking for the last combination and I was out in front again. Then he had his collision with the pit armco and the damage it caused to his car seemed to compromise his top speed, which worked to my advantage. I decided to wait for him a few times, so we would have a battle. The setup changes didn't work out so well - the longer gears and lower tyre pressures improved the car in some places, but made it worse in others. Pace was not so good on new tyres and then the I had massive oversteer in the second part of the race as I had destroyed my rears. The latter meant Dimitar was again all over my back during those last 2 laps, especially the last one, and he almost got me before the long straight. Congrats on the great pace, Dimitar and the rest of the gang who managed to survive until the end! |
