Cars allowed: Any 906 (except 906-8)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Power and Glory v2 from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/), 2.1 patch from here (http://www.gtlw.co.uk/) and enable terrain patch.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=235;theme=34)
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of every-one's connection will be reduced.
(6) Remember that P&G has no 'Pit Speed Limiter' function, but our gentleman's agreement is that everyone will stick to a speed limit for the pit-lane of 40mph/60kph.

I've been so looking forward to putting on a race here, just about my favourite track I can think of. :tt1:

If I could just remember that the long flat-out blind comes after the 180 and not the early wiggles I would be doing fine.    At least the gravel trap is a good size.

Have managed a 2:20 but I hope that some of you lot will appear on the server from time to time so that us noobies can find out where the bar is set!

EDIT:   Must say that I'm finding the 906 to be a recalcitrant and spiteful beast.

Tried a few laps tonight just to get to know the track, quite tricky in the 906 I must admit. Best time only 2.25  :(

I also find this track/car combination quite tricky .... but great fun too. Got me some fine setup-help from Capt. Clive and but still couldn't do better than 2.22.50. after some 25 laps.

I've cracked the 2:20 barrier in an AI race and expect the aliens to be lurking around the 2:18 or perhaps 2:17 mark, which is what MoTeC says that all my best bits will yield.

Good work Stig.  :thumbup2:

(There are perks to this director stuff ;D )

One of THE Classic tracks in the world. See this footage of the late Norick Abe making his debut in the 500GP's at the age of 18 and giving the established stars of the day a real shock, until he crashed out in true kamikazee style. This is the race that inspired Rossi. He had it on tape and used to watch it over and over again, up to the point where Norick takes his tumble. I remember being enthralled myself when watching it on TV, it was fabulous to see this wild Jap with his hair flowing out the back of his helmet. Shwantz, Doohan and Co must have wondered who the hell he was. Such a shame that he was killed while riding a scooter round town by a truck performing an illegal manouvre, spooky that Mike Hailwood went in very similar circumstances!!

Suzuka is also the scene of the two Senna/Prost coming togethers and where Eddie Irvine upset Senna by unlapping himself round T1/T2 resulting in fisticuffs in the garage afterwards!!

I could be tempted but I wouldn't have time to prepare. iRacing tonight so that only leaves Wednesday and I'm totally unfamiliar with these cars.

Easy as falling off a log!

And I've sent you a TT lap.  ;D

I will be away from home after tonight and will not have any chance to practice before Thursday.  Just hope that the M6 plays ball and lets me home in good time.

I knew this convertion quiet perfectly, and after 20 laps with race fuel, I was on the 2.18.7... then I gived a try with 20 liters, and I was 7 tenth down at the first sector... but I threw that lap during the T2... I think that a 2.17 low in quali set is possible for me... but the aliens will do something better... probably a mid 16?!? Let us know something guys :)

Cu :)

I was going to try a bit of practise online and tried at lunchtime and again just now.  I'm getting an error saying that my username and/or password are invalid.  Anyone else?  I have patched so its not down to the lobby fix issue.

Same with GTR2

This thing happens even to some Italian friends during these days... I think that GTR2 lobby has some problems. I can suggest 2 solution they have to use every time they launch GTR 2:

1) Re-install the Lobby Patch every time you can't get into the lobby.
or
2) Make another registration even with the same name you alredy used.

Could be necessary do one of these 2 operations every time you get this trouble. I've got no other solution. Tell me if it worked. Bye :)

Thanks anyway guys.

Try creating a new game profile called test & try with that.

Thanks for the help all.  I created a new profile, setup a different online account, which this time registered, then went back to the original profile using the new log on and it worked.

Now..........has anyone got a setup!?!  My setup skills are not the most useful!

Is there any big difference in the various 906's for this?

Just hope I can make the event after all this.

Cheers.

I'm struggling a bit for pace here, my best lap is a 2:25. I keep pushing too hard, when I should be precise & smooth...  ::)

Also I struggled to get any heat into the tyres for the blue 906-E, so switched to a standard 906-6, and had no problems with the Dunlop white & yellow spots.

Also have a look at the 906 manual to see the differences between the different 906 variants, I found it an interesting read...

Great to see that grid. Congrats Legzy :)

Only positive really. I found it very tricky following Bonni and clattered him twice. Think it was his first race here and I want to reassure him that its not the way it works normally. I apologise, you'll have great fun and I'll be better when we meet again.

Also not sure my pass in Mike was great. Also clattered Ade in quali. Think thats it.

At least Manteos won, much congrats.

bugger! if I'd known I'd have pulled out.  I'm only there for a bit of fun just now.  Didn't want to take any regular slots.

Fun driving.  Hope I get a bit more competitive.

If anyone has an idea how to get out of this loop I seem to be in, having to re-register for online each time, I'd appreciate a pointer.

Cheers.

unlucky Legz, saw you disco on lap 1 just as i was hoping for a race long fight with my normal sparrring partner  :(

Had a great race considering lack of any track time here in any classic racer.

Was trying my hardest to get a top 10 finish but couldnt catch goldtop and Lazlow ahead of me, so stayed 11th whole race. Then with 4 laps to go Goldtop must have had an off at the top of the esses and as i came flying round the crested corner i saw him too late, hit the anchors hard as i could but still hit him very hard.  :( Got suspension and aero damage and the car was a real pig for last 4 laps. It also cost me 6 seconds and allowed Ade to close on me. :'(
Ade chased me for a couple of laps but now i couldnt brake properly without crabbing and he nicked my wanted 10th place with 2 laps remaining.  :'(
Oily then caught me and chased me hard for last 2 laps and nearly had me on the mental 180r turn on very last lap! :o Thankfully he pulled out or we would both have had a big off with 1 corner to go !

Nice racing all, enjoyed that  8) Shame Ade nicked my 10th place though ;)

Sorry if I took a place from a regular driver. :-\ Couldn't resist a 906 @ Suzuka, oh no! ;D
Turned out to be a brilliant event, great stuff first with Clive, then Poulo. 8)

Can drive 906s 'cause for me they're closest to modern GTs, other stuff is just too soft.

Good stuff, Legzy - and bummer on the freeze. :(

Love the track, hate the cars here, probly should have stayed out as well.
Still, was fun, until I fell off somewhere, then caught and passed some.. sorry for the nudge Dan I was not expecting
the car to be quite where It was. Then chased Geoffers for the last few, trying to find an opening in his armour plate
finally got half up the inside up to spoon and he went wide and I then chased Goldy til he fell off (is it something I said?)
"Oh bagger that nutter Rowe is behind me" and ended up back in 13th where I was for the 1st few.

Well I did get to race in the end after a couple of people dropped out. But not one of my better races, I just couldn't get the hang of driving the 906 here. I'm sure my setup for the car is way off, need to spend more time with it.

Did have some good battles though, notably with Seniordan & Matt, who gave me a couple of playful bumps to get me to go a bit faster  . Sorry if my lines were a bit odd Matt, as I say, I think my setup was way off.

Congrats to the podium.

Cya all at Nurburgring.  :thumbup2:

Phew!!!!   I need to have a long rest now in a dark room.

TT and Lazlow made sure I couldn't rest.

Thanks for waiting Lazlow.  I thought that I had just got that wrong on my own until I looked at the replay.  ;D

I find it very difficult to make much progress with PnG because the first time that I find out how each track should be done is when we race.  Up until then I'm in my own little world..................which then gets blown away about 30min into practice.  (Vogons I think!  I didn't have my bable fish in my ear so don't know what they were saying.)

Congrats to the podium

And to Legzy too for filling the server!  Tough act to follow Mike!  ;D

Tough race for me tonight. I'd blame lack of pracci, but in truth I just made a real mess of it. Don't think I did 2 laps the same and therefore never got into a rhythm.

Clipped the grass on the long left hander out of the esses and waited to rejoin. When I did I couldn't get up enough speed as I saw TT (I think) approaching and struggling to avoid me in my mirrors. Sorry matey, hope the contact didn't cause you too much damage :-[

Congrats to Manteos, Ian and Mike at the front and bad luck those who weren't able to get on the grid.

Edit: Sorry MJ; wasn't sure who it was :(

Ah yes, my control of 906s is not great, every corner is a barely controlled crash, and here for me their intolerance
of kerbs made them harder than they needed to be, and had me all over the road at times, not good for close
quarters knife fights.

Your passess were clean Ian. Bonni, Ian and I were tripping over each other. Ian and I were just a tad quicker than Bonni, but he had fantastic lines and positioned his car well. Passing was difficult at this track. I made numerous mistakes all due to my lack of practice and preperation. On lap 8 or 9, Madd-Ripp fell out (sorry dude) with a disco and I drove right through his car. My car was never the same after that. I developed serious understeer and went off a couple of times. I didn't have anything for Ian after that.

Congrats on the win Manteos. Very nice pass in T1 on lap 2 or 3. Fantastic pace Ian.

Sorry to see you leave the event Bonni. Like Ian said earlier, that's not how things normally go down. I throroughly enjoyed the battle with you and can clearly see you really know how to drive well.

Chris, I think that the forum nickname of Bonni is "bimbonos". Tell me if it's right :)

About my race, I've got to thank my faithful VDA mates that helped me so much to gain more than 13 seconds on Ian, and then i administrated my advantage till the end. Only a big mistake at the 12th lap ca. when my car spun with the left tyres on the grass, but I was really a lucky guy, and my car reported no damage. Then after this big lucky strike I kept my pace till the end, but with a lot of fear, because it was really a strange situation for me to lead a race for about 16 lap... it's not an habit for me...
I have to clap my hands for the great overtake done by madd at the second lap, great manouvre!!! Then I can only say that Ian and madd made me a present for my return to race, making 2 mistakes that made their life difficult... however that's racing, and sometimes happens even to the strongest!
I'm really happy for my first win here in UKP&G champ in a champ race, after more than one year I race with you, that's such a good result for my moral and it happens after my recent troubles, that shows that my ankle and my right foot, are the same as ever!!!
Thanks to everybody, and we will see for the next one!

p.s. about the tap to Bonni, he just forgived it Ian... as I said before, that's racing, and it happens. He accept your excuse, but he doesn't speak english, and I can only report his words :)

Cu :)

Arrrggghhh, that was a frustrating race  :-\

I really surprised myself in qually with a 1:22, yesterday I was doing 1:25's so no idea where the extra speed came from.

I took it nice and easy for the first few laps, and with oily breathing down my neck on lap 4, I missed the brake marker on the fast turn after the back stretch and went straight into the gravel and the barriers. Teach me to look where I'm going, not the XD info  ::)

That didn't help the handling, but I soldiered on, until 3/4 laps from the end when one of the G25 clamps came off the desk. I quickly pulled off track and fixed it, so I thought, but I hadn't and the wheel came off in my hands & clipped hotkeys when rejoining. Sorry  >:(

After a bit more fiddling I managed to get the wheel sorted and brought the car back in last place....

Great track, hope we race there again!  :thumbup1: The sun & reflections in the early part of qually made turn 1 tough!

Alex, you were brave going for the Langheck. It is probably the worse 906 for Suzuka!

PS Congrats to podium btw

I know how you feel.  Both PnG and GPL have taken me there many times.

As for now, it's only the Gamebooster thing that Ade put me on to that keeps me running.  Every time that I load a new track I have to use it to defrag the PnG folder or the pc will hang or CTD.

That would be a real shame Matt. I, for one, have enjoyed the fight this season :) Any clue as to why your pc is wonky?

How I understand your feelings unlucky Madd. Last year same issues put me out on 5 races.
I hope you get it sorted very soon.  :)

Lets begin with the excuses.  ;D
Track is nice. The 906 never suited my driving stile lack of skills very well.
I have some construction work in my bathroom and the worker was there untill 20.15.
I never had been at Suzuka with a 906 and I have lost all the practice session.  ::)
Therefore I was quite happy with a 9th grid position and even more happy when for a while I
ran in 5th. But then I made 2 mistakes in 2 laps (you know, those that we spin over the kerbs)  ::)
Anyway, API and Truetom (was nice to meet you again in a duel after so long TT) made my night
worth. Thank you both.  ;)

Excellent attend last night, unfortunately some were not able to join.
Well done again Master Legzy.

Congrats to Manteos (Isn't it better to stay in recover more 2 months? You know, to get sure
that everything is really fine....)  ::) and to podium finishers and well done to all.

Cheers

Got hobbled early on by a wayward Ade in the middle of the track, even if it seemed as though i was going backwards anyway. But then had fun trying to get back up the field. Sorry to Alex for nudging you off through 130R, though with Steve going off up the inside anyway i'm not sure one of us wasnt going anyway! :P Then slowly managed to gain a few places with people going off and seemed to be gaining over the last few laps but never got close to another spot.

Not a good night for me, couldnt get any where near me best for qualifying, managed to run off on the first corner, something Ive never done but must have been distracted or something as I was taking it careful. A little later Legzy stopped dead in front of me and I passed straight through him (phew that was a scare!) must have been when you disconnected.
I started to enjoy being in a bit of a gaggle of backmarkers and planning a way through when I let Spanners up the outside of me at that left hand flick on the long straight, I couldnt see him but trying to see if I could move over made me lose concentration and I was too late breaking and went off. It wouldnt have been a problem but somewhere I recieved a stop and go, I did not see the message as I try and avoid looking at chat so I got DQ. Bummer!

This was a good one Paulo :)
Effectively yesterday I was a bit scared to race with you... I had my physiotherapy for 2h30mins, and they destroyed my ankle... I had to race with the ice on my ankle, blocked by a rubber band that I use for my exercise to recover the ankle movement... However, seems that this method functioned so well :P :P
Italian championship are going to finish, then I hope to bring here some old & new VDA guys for the next races if it will be possible.
Yesterday the Tuscany "Ruzza" duo (Piccinini & Bonni) has done a great work, and I'm sure that they will fight for the lead positions every races! If I won, big part of my victory is their worth!

Cu :)
