I really do dislike races that try to match powerful cars with under powered machinery.
Since I can't drive the latter it's only a matter of time before someone forgets that the car in front can't corner like it's on rails and wollop!
Race over.
I'm sure you had a much better race without my being in the way.
Thanks to Matt for the Elan and 914 setups. They felt nice but I was just too slow in them.

Sorry Clive it wasn't a wallop it was more of a light touch ( don't think you got the power down as fast as i did), unfortunately it half spun you tried to push your front end back round the right way but i just slid off, did wait for you but you quit out Don't see why it was race over though Cheers Ade

Clive, it absolutely was not a better race with "you out the way". Nobody thinks the power car is going to corner like the nimble car, but as the power car obviously has an obvious power/speed advantage, it is very easy to overtake a nimble car of similer pace. For the nimble car to overtake & make it stick, it has to get it's entries & exits right & prey that an oportunity comes up at the 'right section of the track', i.e. when it's not imediately followed by any kind of straight, so it has half a chance to escape. It takes a massive amount of patience as the nimble car driver, watching good oportunities pass because everything wasn't perfect that time... but it is so rewarding to partake in when it goes right, but obviously gutting if the power car driver gets tangled with (for both drivers). However, I was right behind the incident you mention & while unfortunate, your race was not over. You'd had a tap on corner exit that just span you round due to where the weight of your car was balanced. Geoffers & me passed & Ade dawdled up the hill, all expecting you to put the Cobra's power to use & power it round again, but you quit. Was such a shame to see, there was soo much racing still to be had mate. I really don't think it would have effected your final position anyway, 4th/5th

Results and Replay on top of the mountainI could not keep up with the leaders after the first few, had changed the rears to white by mistake and they were overheating quite a bit, still , fun to try to keep up. Not an ideal track for the Cobra in the mix I admit, but times were close enough that it offered an alternative to any that wanted it, perhaps somewhere more open would be a better mix. Respect and thanks to Clive and Fulvio for taking it anyway Looked like Ade and Legzy had a grand battle with Geoffers hanging on, Not sure what's happening next. If Mike isn't ready for the start of Champ Season 6, we will put on another fun race somewhere. If anyone has a good well balanced track car combo they would like to see run, PM Mike and or Myself and we'll test it. Otherwise I get to run something I believe will be another fun one.

Had loads of trouble trying to join tonight...ok in the 914 but kept being booted in the various Elans which is what I'd decided to race. Was also getting CTDs. Tried all the usual stuff, defrag game, check terrain on, del HAT file, reboot pc all no no avail. When I eventually joined in the 914 I just used quali to find my race setup. As soon as the lights went green I had a screen freeze followed by a grey screen and then after 15 secs or so found myself a few metres up the grid and everyone gone. That's a new one for me Anyway, apologies to anyone who might have got caught up in that. Chased back and had a nice little battle with Eiffel in the Elan and Fulvio in the Cobra. Then another freeze When I returned I decided to park it on the grass and wind back my card settings a little. This put me way back but at least I think I've sorted out my freeze problem and was able to finish the race. Nice event and thanks for organising Matt.

I really don't think it would have effected your final position anyway, 4th/5th Cheek! I was in "They shall not pass mode" and if it hadn't been for the 914 road block through T1 and down to T2 I would have had Miguel bottled up as well. My lurid approach to T2 missed Miguel by about 1mm. Had some good fun trading paint and door handles with Geoffers over the first few laps. No Problem Ade. But if I put the power down at the same time as you my Cobra would have understeered up that cliff wall on the outside of the corner. Contact came just as the Cobra had decided that it was turning and so it didn't take much. I didn't expect that you would all have hung about. Usually, just the guy who has tapped me scuffs up the road looking sheepish and the rest of the field rush off into the distance. I was left facing the wrong way and wasn't sure who else might have their race messed about by my attempts to turn around. As a GPL moderator I used to take a dim view of people who did spin turns in the middle of the track. My race was based on being in front of you lot. Half a lap of you in front of me and you would have pulled away out of my reach and thus, since it didn't count for anything, I left you to it.

I used the whites all round Matt & didn't encounter any problems with them, probably a different setup making the difference. Not a bad race. I was going to take one of the older Elans, but with the sort of lap times which had been posted, I decided it had to be the Willment one. Had a good battle with Clive on the opening laps but we were soon caught by Ade & Legzy's 914s. Managed to hold them at bay for a bit, but got a bit out of shape at T2 & they both went past. Moved back up to 2nd after the melee at the hairpin but the 914s soon tracked me down again . Legzy got past quite quick, but I held Ade at bay for 2-3 laps. The Elan was a little bit quicker on the straights but just didn't have the tyres to compete under braking & around the corners. On a less twisty track I think they would be more evenly matched. Once Ade got past he quickly pulled away & I had a lonely run to the flag. Congrats to Ade, Legzy & Miguel.

Sorry for late report (is later better than never?).Congratulations to Ade. Well done Chris.Technically, it wasn't first time for me on this track, but first was three and half years ago and it was Formula One. Practice and qualification allowed me remember the track as is, and first half of race - some tricks like early cornering in last turn. But nothing could give me idea about tires wear on full distance, especially with rally-style driving which I decided to choose, so I ventured on breaking away from main group (pretty slowed because of battle for position). And it worked! On last lap I was in 3.5 seconds ahead of Chris and... And I began to think about unnecessary things instead of driving my car to finish line! What winners never should do. Because of such things I never won in any championship where I participated (5 times runner up on R2P and 1 time here). Have missed braking point while looked in mirrors and gave fairness to triumph.
