1  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 6 Upper Endurance - Sugo (Classic) - Nov 25 on: November 28, 2007, 04:11:53 PM +0000
Bit late but here goes..

Qual was bit of nitemare, very unlucky to get out on the wrong times so took 3 runs to finally get a somewhat ok timed lap in, could've gone a little faster but I figured I shouldn't poke my nose further when the cars ahead obviously had better pace so was quite comfy with starting 4th.
Took it bit easy in the opening laps with the cold conditions but no attack from behind so when car starting getting into the zone I could just stay with Paul. Had no ambitions to get ahead at that point since 4th was good and could drop some weight for next event, but then suddenly the Lambos out front ran into probs and suddenly I was in a more committing second Cheesy
Was tailed by Jeff but unfortunately he had a disco, that made it a battle between me and Paul. I knew then if I could stay with him until the stops there would be a good chance I could leapfrog him for the lead, then when I closed in traffic I hit the in-next-lap request and worked out well as I could see him still in the pits a few laps later. Gap was 12s but still alot of work to do and cant afford to drop pace much and I'll get caught. So try to keep the pace up and it stays pretty static until 15mins before the end, when I start to catch traffic at bad places and loosing my rhytm abit.
Have a comm-error with Jure in T2, he flashed me to go by so I went inside tight figured he would stick to the racingline but then just after apex he decides to move abit offline into my path and I cant avoid giving him a tap spinning him around, sorry but caught me bit off guard there. The slower class was very cooperative on this tight and twisty track tho  thumbup1
Still when track is clear I can keep the gap, but only with 2 laps left I can take it somewhat easy.
Not expecting a win here, but hey after the disco at Adria I'll take anything Grin
Only prob now is a bit heavy car for Zhuhai Shocked
2  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 6 Upper Endurance - Hockenheim (GP) - Nov 11 on: November 13, 2007, 04:52:20 PM +0000
That was an intense race, just miffed I didn't got the result I deserved, but obviously Freq drove a great and mistake free race so his win was equally deserved.
At racestart car wasn't working well, fueled to the brim and pretty cold track with medium tires it just slightly cornered better than a beam of light, so felt it was sheer luck I only lost one position in the opening laps.
After a while and burning off 20L or so it started to work much better, and when Kerr spun I was back in 2nd albeit 6s behind P1. But didn't loose ground from then on and even closed some before pitstop probably due to traffic so I knew that was a big chance to get out again in front. I wasn't sure about how many laps so I probably ended up pitting a few laps too late, finished with 3 laps of fuel. And there was a gaggle of GTC cars up ahead so I really wanted to get in sooner to avoid that. When all had pitted then I had 12s lead and car felt good now. gap was pretty consistent but then with 10min left I had a lazy spin in the Sachs curve going inside a backmarker which spun the car around and gap got down to less than 4s, was still pretty confident to keep that lead but soon traffic played a big part and the gap just vanished to less than a sec. Getting frustrated about behind stuck behind slower cars at wrong places I ended up pushing too hard out of the hairpin and lost the lead. So close, but can only really blame my poor preperation for not checking number of laps and getting fuel correct. It takes about 4s per 10L, and that was 4s that couldve come in handy heh

3  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 6 Upper Endurance - Spa - Oct 14 on: October 15, 2007, 04:43:22 PM +0100
Well, not like I had planned coming to Spa with anorectic Lister, but after last race's unfortunate result it was suddenly -20 instead of +35, which made the race alot easier ofcoz. If theres anything good about that was that I didn't fancy practicing since I figured the car should be very competitive, and indeed it turned out to be.

Race started very cool almost went for a smaller engine duct but then decided to stick with safe setting (3) and seemed good idea as the ambient went up in the later part. Second stint car was ofcoz better with the track having more grip, giving a better car underneath, but overall was pretty undramatic and traffic was good as always to signal their intentions.

But all in all I also agree with Jeff, the weight penalties isn't very fun when it means you get out of sync compared to the guys you would normally race against. I'm sure had I come here with +35 after Adria it would've been a close scrap with Zac and Brian for the win.
4  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 6 Upper Endurance - Adria - Sep 30 on: October 01, 2007, 09:49:09 PM +0100
Great race for atleast 70mins Roll Eyes
Then pitted with a decisive lead and looked to come out with a 10s lead, but when I got out no-one was there, got the HUD brought up and the gap to next car was just increasing so I knew within half a lap I would get a Connection lost message, pretty annoying but well, been almost a year since I had my last one so maybe was about time.
Great driving by the GTCs, always seemed to catch them in packs of 2-3 or more car so could be a bit tricky to find way past sometimes
5  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 6 Upper Endurance - Monza (GP) - Sep 16 on: September 17, 2007, 10:51:30 PM +0100
Overall a pretty poor race here, started pretty well and had a close battle with Shark and Zac, got a shot at the Viper but just barely locked the rear and spun in the chicane, got back in the action again pretty quick tho and swapped places with Zac a few times as we took turn making small mistakes or get caught by backmarkers. But by then I started getting FPS crap again  Huh First time it started up to the Ascari complex, allmost lost it there and was lucky not to take out Zacari I think.
The poor FPS at Ascari scenario repeated itself for a few laps, strangely after a few laps it dissappeared again, but by then I had had to make an unscheduled stop alrdy after 15laps with some various splitter/suspension/tire damage after getting a bit frustrated about the FPS that was slowly starting to ruin my race and spun it out of Lesmo, got slowly and safely back to pits so only cost a minute so I figured I could still be in the hunt for a top 5 if I could stretch the fuel, figured it was just enuff with a full tank to make it to the end. But then unfortunately with the poor fps I had cut a few times and on the outlap I got a 3rd and final cut warning again after focusing too much on a GTC car as I lined up to pass it out of Ascari, bloody hell in to the pits again and came out in languishing in 18th almost 2laps down on leaders.
Last 30 laps was pretty lonely then, after getting past the GTCs ahead and ppl started pitting I was running 9th but gap to 8th was coming down by 2s a lap so that was a small motivation to keep goin at a reasonable pace. Car was actually good and no probs running that long on the same tires here. Ended just a few secs behind P7. I think next time I need to get abit into the rhytm of driving a RHD car prior to the race, kept putting the wrong side where it shouldn't be  Shocked
6  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 6 Upper Endurance - Valencia (GP) - Sep 2 on: September 03, 2007, 07:35:36 PM +0100
Had the same probs in qual as some of the others, had just gone out for my 3rd run and then FPS went to crap, did a lap to see if it cured but didn't and still in monitor had 16-17fps, didn't want to gamble it would disappear in next season, alrdy learned that lesson last season that it's always best to rejoin, so quickly did that and luckily there was still enough time left for another go, and just managed to pip Zac for the pole as the clock ran out.

As race got underway the car was a bit understeery, couldn't get proper heat in the front, guess the downside of running a negative handicap, altho midway in stint the car started to come to its own. Zacari wasnt far behind and gap toggled back and forth abit due to traffic. After the pitstop car felt a little better with less fuel and new tires and rest of race was pretty much negotiating the heavy traffic, every lap there was one or more cars to lap. Penultimate lap had a little scare as I came up on what I first thought was a 575 into T2, but suddenly I closed reaally fast under braking and I realized it was a Gillet! Just managed to throw the car inside to avoid getting a new hood ormament. After looking back I noticed the bonnet was missing, but god thing the driver was aware heh.
7  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 5 Endurance Masters - Silverstone (GP) - Apr 22 on: April 23, 2007, 04:47:40 PM +0100
That was a very strange "experience", i noticed late in qual session fps was dropped to 10s and that was in monitor, so obviously something was acting strange with the game, never seen anything like this before, dunno if it was the track, everything seemed fine tuesday in sprint race so I'm puzzled, or maybe a weather thing. Other cars looked fine so think the connection side of things were good. Could be the dreaded 1fps bug, but maybe keeping my sys running lowest possible services under XP running during gaming saved it from completely locking up.
Anyway every laps small freezes, on a 'good' lap I only lost a sec, but many laps I had small lockups for a splitsecond, but sometimes huge stutters everywhere, rates could be 90'ish and then next turn completely crap out, specially Abbey/Bridge/Priory section was a real lottery getting safe past. Usually every second lap nothing happened so atleast it was somewhat predictable and I could takes counter measures  Roll Eyes
In the end I couldn't do much but just let other cars get past and try to stay out of harms way as best as possible.
8  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 5 Endurance Masters - Anderstorp (GP) - Apr 8 on: April 08, 2007, 11:04:14 PM +0100
Tuff race, car was too nervous for my liking specially under braking I wasn't totally comfy and the over the curbs (like in T2) and couldn't put the gas down as hard as I wanted, felt pretty good tho first 2/3 of a stint, then it just struggled remaining part with understeer plus the oversteer got worse too  Roll Eyes
Gap remained pretty static for most of first part, some occasional small errors from us both moved it abit, in the middle part of first stint I suddenly increased alot over a few laps, but then had a big tank slapper out of the final turn and had to gain control again and gap went down to 4s and stayed there till the pitstop. Fast stop, but when I got out again lapping some NGTs down to T2 I forgot my cold tires and couldn't make the turn in time  Roll Eyes  thought that was the lead going there, but Jeff stayed out a few laps more and I put in some fast laps and managed to stay about 8s ahead of him, ok helped he had some argues with his crew too  laugh
Rest of race just focused on not putting wheels in sand/grass etc, almost worked only a few minor close calls  Cheesy

Anyway good pace in that C5R "CSL"   Wink

9  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 5 Endurance Clubmen - Anderstorp (GP) - Apr 1 on: March 30, 2007, 09:34:46 PM +0100
Porka GT2 has final drive options (as one of the few cars in the game), unfortunately you cant set that in garage so need to edit the svm in notepad.
Try change FinalDriveSetting to 3 should give longest possible gearing (2 is default, can also make it shorter by editing it to 0 or 1).
Btw didnt you race it at Monza, how the hell did you get it around there then?  Cheesy

Ah gutted, think I misread the rules aswell, anyhoo they arent very clearly formulated IMO since it looks like a lot of drivers did the "hard" time and then began work on car (damn button DONT REPLY now ffs  Tongue) That probably cost me the win.

Was cool race anyway I was trying hard to keep the 550s at bay in start but eventually my soft tires started to go off so I just let Zac past he pitted soon tho.
Sorry to Colin for the hit at La Source, I was busy overtaking another backmarker and misjudged it completely and with locked brakes trying to slow it down. Sorry for another hit too where I send you off again, but is never a good idea to change line with a faster car approaching, keep your line and let the other find away round, almost gave me a heartattack there, luckily car escaped pretty unharmed.

Track conditions made this a very struggling event aswell since I couldnt see any choice but to go with the softest tires, and after 20-21 laps the warnings started to come in a steady stream for all the tires.
And the 5mins reststop spoils the illusion IMO plus you get out on track again and have absolutely no idea where the competetion is, NGTs getting thrown into the mix being a lap up lol
But I can see why some like it..but it's just not right for me  Grin
13  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 4 Endurance Masters - Barcelona (GP) - Feb 18 on: February 19, 2007, 05:02:10 PM +0000
Good racing with very mixed field, the G3s wasn't a prob really, I think I lost more time getting stuck behind the faster NGT drivers  Cheesy
Car was running in leanburn mode with lowest possibly revs so made up alot of time in the pits.

Reading S5 plans it all sounds good, interesting to see what will change in ballast, I think I'll have to choose one of the more 'occult' looking cars Grin

14  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 4 Sprint NGT Masters - Monza (GP) - Jan 23 on: January 23, 2007, 10:03:14 PM +0000
Typical Monza for me, either make or break Roll Eyes
Drove mostly in anger being frustrated over the Porsches (specially the biturbos) speed, I could take the RSRs draft but when I pulled out of slipstream it just zoomed off Huh.

Anyway after halfway point it was finally down to me and Jeffrey. Was clear that he was starting to struggle alot in the faster turns, was alrdy defending inside lines. Think I got abit too eager, followed him very close out of Ascari but clipped the curb and sent the car flying into the wall. Should prolly have been more patience since was still 7 laps to go at that time and I was clearly faster everywhere expect on the straits, so couldve been some intense last laps me think  Cool
15  UKGTR / UKGTR Races / Re: UKGTR Season 4 Endurance Masters - Monza (GP) - Jan 21 on: January 21, 2007, 10:47:02 PM +0000
Good race, seemed like it took for forever for the car to start gripping so was just focused on keeping Jon at bay in start.
Lap 4 or so it finally started working, same lap he suddenly froze between the Lesmo turns, could be his car that Ruskus hit, think it dissappeared just after it froze, then i was like huh and suddenly it reappearred coming down to the Ascari complex, must have been a hicup there.
Anyway managed to spool out 8s before I planned to stop just as I was hitting traffic on lap 21 for the 2nd time. That worked perfect and after a quick splash and new tires I got out in pretty empty space and could push alot for 10 laps until the traffic situation got back to normal for a mixed field race. Just took it easy last part not taking any chances with lappings.
