Intense race that one turned out to be.

Quali went okay as I just never seemed to get the last corner right with those softs. So from the start till about halfway I was racing within a second of Jeffrey. Got by at one point taking the long way around T2 but then 2 corners later he took it back nicely ( I just kept the spot nice and warm  ;D ). Our times were pretty much on par as it was turning into a battle of tenths. Then about halfway through he made a little mistake at T1 and I managed to sneak by again and build a little bit of a gap. Still never a moment of rest.

Not a great race from me, had a total b*stard of a work day so felt punch drunk this eve.

Only joined during qually and took a few laps to get on the pace but even a 31.5 was only good enough for 6th or 7th  :-\
Had a decent start and got past sutol and a good run on simon. Did a nifty dummy to get the inside line for t2 right hander but soon as i hit the brakes off the racing line, I thought 'oh oh this is like ice'  :o tried my best to throw the car up the slope rather than t-bone someone but still collected Felix (very sorry  :-[ ). Cold meds and heavy fuel - rooky mistake.  :wetfish:
Was so annoyed with myself i pulled over and let about 3 cars past. This proved a mistake as I was never able to re-close on the front 5 again.
A high speed spin out of the last turn cost me another 6 secs and that was that, another lonely race with about 17 secs over the pack behind.

Intense race indeed :D.

I opted for a low downforce setup with only 0-4 wing, which was actually higher than my 0-3 at Road America. At RA I gained a whopping 2kph down the straight in comparison to 2-5 wing, but atleast it felt nicer there :P.

But because of that low downforce, I had to brake earlier than Maikel, which I think caught him out a bit. So every time he was close behind, I would brake a bit later, to not surprise him too much, but that resulted in me having a bad exit out of turn 1 twice. First time we went side by side pretty much the whole lap, which was awesome.

The second time, around halfway through the race it he got by, but then I thought, now comes my low drag settings into effect...but absolutely nothing was gained, even in the draft  ::). So I knew at that point I released the Kraken and he was off. Decided a lap later that it would be more fun to keep the drift going into turn 7 instead of cathcing it earlier, which resulted me going into the gravel and losing a second and the connection to Maikel.
I knew his race pace was stronger than mine, so it was impossible to do anything afterwards.

Let's see, what timestamp did I get overtaken...ah, next race will be 25 minutes long ;):P.

Bit annoyed to run out of fuel with a lap to go! Despite the setup tab telling me had enough and more. Not sure what happend. Enjoyed a good race  with Stefan though.

Fair kop, will take my punishment on the chin

Though I did pull over and let several cars go past me before returning back to race speed  ;)

Thanks.  :thumbup2:

To me, waiting like that is a courtesy, a way of appologizing during the race.

If I let that become a "get-out-of-jail-free"  card, people can create clever incidents in the fight for the championship  ;D

yeah no problem, I hate first lap contacts so cant complain if for once I am the guilty party. I was too lenient in the championships I ran. :hammer:

Hang on, so if Mark hadnt slowed stopped would he have got a bigger penalty? Should we be penalising people for doing the right thing in dropping back if you've inconvinenced others?

Dropping back does not give you a smaller penalty. The severity of the penalty was just standard 2 places, as by the rules.

And like I said, dropping back is purely a way to show you are sorry to the victim and not a way to lower the penalty. The only way to do that:

Self-Imposed Drive Through Penalties

Where a driver has reported an incident, and performed a self-imposed drive through within 3 laps (or some other period if deemed reasonable), the number of places lost will normally be reduced to 0, and the penalty itself may be reduced to a caution if the moderator is satisfied that the driver will try to avoid such incidents in future.

Giving harshers penalties for first lap incidents is quite common, but the only thing I do harsher is to hand out penalties eventhough there was no victim report. Normally that would not result in places lost if there was no report.
