Moderator's Report

The moderators consider that Bob left the pits slowly and carefully, so did nothing wrong, but it would be appropriate to remind people of the dangers when leaving pits at tracks like Zanvoort, and Rouen for example, where the pit lane is next to the fairly narrow track. Please remember to keep as far off the racing line as is practical. In this case as far to the right as possible.

In the incident where Simon Loynes crashes into the rear of RogUK
It is the moderators opinion that if Simon had kept well left as he should have been when approaching the pit area there would not have been an incident. Roger was keeping to the right, and could have perhaps kept further right, but it is likely the incident would have still happened even if he had.
As Simon had to retire, there is no point in any penalties.
Please all be reminded, again, of keeping as far off the racing line as possible when entering the pits, and when still racing please try to remember to keep as far away from the line of people who may be slowing to pit.

Got a magic start and stole 2 places as cars around me either scrabbled for grip or bogged down. Was just saying to myself "take it steady on cold tyres" and I hit a kerb and everything went pear shaped!!!
Apologies to Simon for that scare on Lap1 ...some nifty avoidance driving there simon I Am Not Worthy

From then on it was a case of trying to make sure I got to the flag.....things were going well until I was about to be lapped on the main straight by a tentacle waving alien, and I came across a car limping back to the pits.
Putting a rear wheel on the sandy stuff at that speed does nothing for car control, but is a great way to increase your heart rate!!  I managed a spin on the main straight!! AND I guess a wheel crossed into the pitlane during one of the revolutions, because I got a StopnGO to make the farce complete!!!
Just to make my race complete I managed to forget the Pit Lane Limiter during my enforced stop and yup!!! got another speeding ticket!!  Undecided

Car was Ok so I pushed on and was rewarded with a few cars dropping out ( really harsh on Ati ) and ended up 5th.

Grats to the podium guys and those who finished on the lead lap. I think I need to put in some more practice if I have any hopes of getting down to those lap times.  ninja

Had a fair quali. and started from 9th on the grid, the start was good, managed to pass 4 cars after T1  due to some spins and I considered myself lucky and did a few laps while lapping good times till I dunno what happened and I spanned on the finish/start straight luckily my Cooper wasn't damaged,

Then a few laps later at T1 I hit the brakes a bit late and my Car flew over the fence, whistling I tried to come back to the track but couldn't find an entry  censored and all of a sudden my car went into some hole and it started to fly.

I messed what could have been an easy race !!

I hope I didn't bother anyone with my adventure

Hope to see u all next week !!

Cheers

Dreadful start to qualify; when I went on track, the resistance in my wheel had turned all gooey. No choice but to exit and restart GTL, which thankfully fixed it.  When I rejoined, I had a hard time getting a clear lap, but all worked out in the end, with a new pb.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to get off the line with these cars. I've tried high revs, low revs, medium revs, dumping the clutch, easing the clutch out, but no matter what, I always seem to crawl slower off the line than practically everybody else.  De Martini in the same car positively catapulted off the line in comparison.  If anyone who's discovered the secret would give some advice, I'd be most grateful  Smiley

Thus lost a place and slotted into 4th at the start. Had Maipor behind, but he spun at the beginning of L2 and was replaced by Geoffers. Beginning of L3, up ahead Ziu and De Martini had coming together. Looked like I could profit from it, gaining one or maybe even two places.  But just as I aimed for this, I had to swerve off track to avoid Ziu's rejoining car. No gains then; on the contrary, it brought Geoff up close and personal instead.  Later same lap, Martini went hillclimbing  Wink, so I claimed 3rd.

Held most of the race. Looked like I was slipping away from Geoffers at about the same rate Ziu was slipping away from me. Thus shaping up to be a lonely race, but was far from it. Constant traffic of drivers who had been delayed for various reasons.  Had one or two hairy moments with stationary cars.  Thanks to all who helped me past. Apologies for not thanking in race, but driving these cars fast takes about 110% of my concentration. Thus don't dare take my hand off the wheel, to fumble for a predefined message key on the keyboard  Shocked

Late in the race, a message from Ati indicated he might be in trouble.  Sure enough, the pitboard showed me in 2nd shortly after. Tough luck Atilla; you seemed to have victory in the bag, but at least you left in elegant style..  Wink

Grats to Ziu on the win and Geoffers on the final podium.

Regrettably handicapping kicks in from next race, and I'll have to wave goodbye to the wonderful Brabham for now  :'(    Anyone want to buy a BT24 ? Pristine condition; only raced once since total rebuild..  Wink

Cheers,
Erling

I expect that it gave you a track cut warning as you sailed through the air.

Please don't bother.  There is enough garbage appearing up at the top of the screen already and as you say, it takes 110% concentration just to stay on the grey bit!

There should be no chat apart from pit in pit out but that is a waste of time also because one is far too busy aiming ones own car to read mail!  Should also be remembered that pit in and pit out do not give you carte blanche to pull across in front of cars that are approaching at speed.

Edit:  No problem Roguk.  But Spa is going to be another track where you are going so fast in these daft cars that you cannot see the accident ahead before you have become a part of it!  It was ever thus in GPL at Spa.

I had to pull out before the race last night due to an inconvenient tummy bug, I had hoped that when I started driving I would be OK but I did not feel good so quit during qually. I was almost two seconds slower than my best lap in practice a few days ago but even if I had matched that it would not have improved my grid position at the back. I had planned to try to be consistent and keep out of trouble in the race.

I’m supposed to be going to a family get together tonight to celebrate one of my nephews birthday. We are then going to have a curry meal….. Not in my case, I’m on dried toast and water and still suffering at the moment.

I was using the McLaren M5A that I used in the first race (I missed Monaco). I noticed it seemed rather down on power to me although others drove it much faster. I was surprised to see De Martini in a Brabham BT24 flash past me at the end of the pit straight although I had a good entry, he seemed to come from miles back and I was not  quite red lining it. I could hold him through the slower corners but when we came to the flat out parts of the track although I had my foot flat to the floor he just disappeared into the distance. I would have thought it would have been the other way around. I must test the Brabham to see if it is that much faster. I know that slower in and faster out of corners tends to give better lap times. I think I must have mastered the slower in part judging by my lap times. Probably need to be smoother on the breaking and steering and set the car up better.

I am just going to download the replays and see if I can learn anything from the masters.
