to race at Imola yet.. so a selfish booking, hope all withh cope.. and err turn up, That would be good :thumbup1: Does anyone want an event posting for 28th Dec? I seem to be local this Christmas, so could probably do it. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: frex on December 21, 2017, 02:44:18 PM +0000 Hmm, said I probably wouldn't get any more new RRE content but Imola (and all other tracks) is 50% off at the moment. Tempting..
Not sure yet if I'll be around for the 28th, but if a race is up I'll try and make it if I can. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: goldtop on December 21, 2017, 03:14:10 PM +0000 Should be ok for this one and for the 28th :thumbup1:
Three Porsches were released today so I used the opportunity to buy the premium pack (all existing content to date) :) Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on December 21, 2017, 03:35:26 PM +0000 Don't know what will happen next year, but Imola will be a regular track if anything happens.

Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: frex on December 21, 2017, 11:45:37 PM +0000 That Nissan was mighty down the main straight. Yes it was, wasn't it.. I don't normally take the Nissan, but after purchasing the track just before race start and with just a few minutes to try it out, I thought it would be the only car that might allow me to keep up with the pack. However after a couple of laps following Pete I was soon able to breeze guiltily past.. But then I stupidly over-cooked T1 and got a wheel on the dirt, leaving Pete with nowhere to go except into the back of me. A further mishap later on also left GT in a similar situation, again with nowhere to go except into my rear bumper. Spent the rest of the race trying to enjoy the fun, but also trying to give back places, but I think that's what Pete and GT were doing also..! A messy race then, but just shows what good fun RRE can be - I hope we can continue in some form next year. Happy Christmas all. I appreciate that Race Dept are running Thursdays
but they have something going on every night, so not the end of it. I would liek to experiment a bit with a few fun races then 2 or 3 series depending on what people ask for. I like the f1 ish group, awesome recent f1 style, people only need to buy one car. amything else that people would like? Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: picnic on December 22, 2017, 10:20:04 AM +0000 amything else that people would like? Keep going with the NSUs...... ;DTitle: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: goldtop on December 22, 2017, 10:37:39 AM +0000 Fun race but I got too close to Dieter and had to slam my brakes on causing me to spin. I chased back hard but don't think I completed a clean lap in doing so hence my reluctance to take the glory at the end :D
I'm up for anything Raceroom but probably getting a bit past it these days for modern F1 :o There are a few cup series cars that seem interesting.....obviously the new Porsches but there are others. I'm happy to stick with classics too. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: spanner on December 22, 2017, 12:08:16 PM +0000 Maybe not the F1 car but the slower singleseaters would be interesting, the F3, GP2 maybe?
Maybe pick cars out of the car packs that people dont normally run? I've always perefered the modern stuff, Its not always easy to get enthusiasm for say the NSU's Its not like there is much crossover with the AC and R3E series so would just run what you want ot run. But would question the continuation with such low numbers, and with RD running there events on same nights. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: BillThomas on December 22, 2017, 12:20:23 PM +0000 Although I'm always at the back of the pack and way off the lap times, I enjoy my RRE and would like to continue racing whilst I am able to do. I'm not into modern cars but wouldn't mind having a go at some of the less powerful cars. At my time of life :wheelchair: I don't want to spend out on a new racing format, I've spent enough on RRE! ::)
Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on December 22, 2017, 12:21:47 PM +0000 I asked about Tuesdays and had one for, and one who can't do Tuesdays
Thursdays is traditionally Historic, but I don't mind what we run as long as people enjoy the races. I have been on the verge of packing it in for a year or more, but whenever I ask, people still seem to want some R3E in our portfolio (yus milud) and it is very easy to run these R3E events compared to the hours of testing I used to do for P&G so I am happy to continue as long a somebody turns up ::) and, I don't want to retire the Thursday events in case something really ground breaking comes out and we would have no night for it potentially, just keeping the slot warm is reason enough for me. I might run some AC historics in a few months, I am leaving that for the time being as I don't want to queer Jeffrey's pitch. RD run something every night it seems, so we are competing for entries anyway. These new GT3 Porkas seem very good indeed, so unless I get some strong opposition I will be running a series for them. Not all year as previously, 2018 series will be maybe 3 month series or so, then something else. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: BillThomas on December 22, 2017, 04:17:08 PM +0000 I have early copy of AC but all cars understeer and I can't see how to change most of the suspension or final drive settings. I suspect it needs a major update before it's ready to use or am I missing something fundamental? GTL and RRE are much more intuitive to setup.

You sure its AC?
Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: BillThomas on December 23, 2017, 12:28:48 PM +0000 That doesnt make sense, its only available on steam which will keep it updated. You sure its AC? Assetto Corsa, I agree with you not making sense and should be automatically updated by Steam in the same way as RRE; hence my question. It loads then says Theme Loaded (think that is the correct wording). I’ll have another look over Christmas Period but I if cannot I’ll give AC a miss. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: picnic on December 23, 2017, 12:45:55 PM +0000 Bill try this, from within Steam right click the game and select properties, then local files tab and you'll then find a button called Verify Integrity Of Local Files. Click that and let it verify everything is present and correct.

Anyone else noticed any change? Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: goldtop on December 24, 2017, 01:07:44 PM +0000 SInce the new patch, my game is unplayable with slow frame rate Anyone else noticed any change? Game ran worse here after the 64bit patch. If you are running an nvidia card with nvidia inspector you'll need to add the 64bit exe to your nvidia inspector profile for settings to take affect. Also windows has been handing out updates recently which want to update your card drivers. I use a GTX770 which doesn't like new drivers so had to revert to my old ones. Game runs fine now and looks good. Had some more time with the new pork and the Cayman is definitely worth checking out....an absolute gem of a sim car! I've entered a boxing day event with it at RD which should be fun. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on December 24, 2017, 01:24:02 PM +0000 I have an older driver version that I keep as it works best for GTL
I don't use Nvidia Inspector, perhaps I should. My other machine looks as normal since the 64 bit update and that's a slower CPU, similar card, maybe a slightly better one this is a GTX 760 Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: BillThomas on December 26, 2017, 12:24:48 PM +0000 Bill try this, from within Steam right click the game and select properties, then local files tab and you'll then find a button called Verify Integrity Of Local Files. Click that and let it verify everything is present and correct. Thanks Thanks Pete (apologise for wrong name). Done what you suggested and my files are OK, noticed that the Automatic Updates is selected but it is obviously not happening. Looked at updates and it shows a download of over 25 GB - would exceed my monthly download limit. In looking at downloads it shows cost reductions by specific dates and involve a number of new cars. It looks as if an update would be both time consuming and involve payments. As I wrote in an earlier post I don’t want to incur more costs at my time of life, I don’t expect many more years of online racing so I will stick with my RRE and GTL, hopefully with minimum new purchases. Thanks to all people who have advised me on AC. My lad is getting back into simracing and wants to pick up some tracks before the sale ends on Jan 4th.

I guess Matt doesnt plan that far ahead? Ive tried a few laps in the Porsche cup car, hmm.. thats going to be a tough car to drive, limited setup, soft suspension with little damping makes keeping it smooth a prioirty or the mass out the back takes over! Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on January 01, 2018, 01:36:59 PM +0000 Was intending a series wit the new porches, they seemed a good drive, but after a few tests they seemed
more like the old RSR to drive, and as mentioned very little setup options, they need at least more coast diff Can give it a whirl, people traditionally seem to like Porsche series? NSU is a fun series, though not everyone's cup of tea. any other thoughts? Can do the above easily, could try a few test races if that meets wit approval? Could do a few short series with different cars. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: goldtop on January 01, 2018, 08:16:54 PM +0000 May as well get all of them! Good advice as ever, Jules bought the premium pack and I haven't seen him since :) Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on January 01, 2018, 09:16:11 PM +0000 Did some more testing today with the GT3 Porkas. I can get a setup that makes it
tame enough, though not so fast, so I will do a GT3 series, and an NSU one for sure I am thinking of a Gr5 Capri spec series as well, as they are powerull enough to be challenging, but since one of the updates, I can now drive them, so anyone can ::) I tried the GT4 Porsche, and it has more setups, but is not as much fun as the GT3 and I'm no Pork herder :D Tracks not yet decided, but the usual suspects, Euro/American packs. Any and all of the Nordic ones. Does Imola come in a pack these days? if not you will need that one. So. To do all series you will need the tracks as above, and a GT3 Porsche, an NSUtt and a Capri skin of your choice. Skins are whatever people want, but It's nice if people use a differnet one. I have bought the pretty blue Porks. Which one? the GTR3 GT3 GT3 Porsche or the Supercup GT3 Cup Porsche?
Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: goldtop on January 02, 2018, 08:53:46 AM +0000 When you say GT3 Porsche..... ??? Which one? the GTR3 GT3 GT3 Porsche or the Supercup GT3 Cup Porsche? The GTR3 car is great but can I put my vote in for the GT3 Cup car? It's more exciting to drive than the ABS and traction controlled GT3 spec car and because it has less aero it's also much quicker in a straight line. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on January 02, 2018, 10:15:08 AM +0000 Didn't realise there were more than one, perhaps that's why I found it easy to drive once, and
a tough drive the next time.... I will test again. EDIT: It is the Cup car that I have been testing. It would be better with some more setup options but with full rear wing, and full hard front ARB, and full soft rear ARB it is drivable even if it's slow like that, if anyone needs to tame it. I had not realised they had snuck a GT3 porka into the normal GT3 group. Had a quick go, and yes it is a nice easy drive, so would suit me fine ::) but it is a bit too easy. We will use the GT3 Cup, and if it proves to be too challenging we can always swap to the GT3 "normal group" one. It is the pretty blue GT3 Cup car that I have purchased. Also.... Not looked at the spring rates, but one of the "challenges" with the GT3 Cup car is that I assumed the suspension was very hard, it's not very forgiving, and will flip over on a whim if you mount a kerb, which suggests either very hard damping, or stiff springs? I will start entering events later today. This thursday will be the 1st Porsche GT3 Cup event and it will be at Red Bull Ring. (Speilberg) Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: spanner on January 02, 2018, 12:28:45 PM +0000 Ok, blame Porsche's naming dept! Where a GT3 doesn't actually conform to the FIA GT3 class!
The Cup car setup has the dampers greyed out at a value of one which says the car is very underdamped and was finding braking quite difficult to not lock up around Mid Ohio where i tried it out. Title: Re: RRE Season 4 (2017) Race Room Tourers (2nd Series) - Imola - Dec 21 Post by: phspok on January 02, 2018, 12:38:44 PM +0000 Ok, tried Mid Ohio, Portimao, Speilberg, Laguna Seca, and Imola.
It is somewhat "quirky" but I think it will produce some interesting racing. It needs to be driven very carefully, and doesn't suit my "fast in slow out" rubbish style. I have learned some discipline from Jeffrey's Lotus 25 series :o so I will cope..... |
