Have come across some anomalies
whilst checking out all 4 cars on this track and was wondering what other drivers views are on them:
1. DBR1 -I can run a flying lap at a steady (indicated) 150mph and get 2:11.
With the D-Type - again a flying lap at indicated speeds of up to 172mph but never below 150mph, yet I get the same lap times of 2:11.
2. Healey 100 - Again, a steady flying lap with an indicated steady speed of 150mph, crossing the line at 2:20.
With the Merc 300sl, the flying lap shows a steady speed of 225kph/138mph, but also giving me a 2:20 lap time.
Perhaps the DBR speedo is under registering for it to be giving similar times to the D-Type, the latter which is nearer to the official top speed of 179mph. As I presumably have a bog standard GTL download, I assume this scenario is the same for everyone?
With the Healey/Merc scenario, I am not sure how a steady 150mph lap and a steady 138mph lap can give me the same lap times
.
Different garage setups and amount of fuel would be irrelevant. If your speed and distance covered are constant, then your lap time will remain the same, (speed, distance, time etc etc)
........., or if your lap times are the same over the same track, then you would expect your constant speed to be the same too.
Anyway, points to ponder on, but would be interested to hear anyone elses thoughts
Am very tempted to run the Healey here as it gives a beautifully smooth ride, very satisfying, but will probably go for the DBR which seems more settled than the Jag and is, for me, a good 10 seconds quicker than the Healey.
Just read your comment Hayman. Yes, brake wear will be the least of our worries. Tyre pressures will be especially important on this one. Too high or low and they will certainly go off before the end of the race.
