Game froze on me half way around the final lap . Oh well it was great fun wrestling the Mustang whilst trying to hold a slender gap over Ross. Well driven Ross. Probably just a one off appearance for me so enjoy the rest of the season guys. Yep, was great fun . Pity it wasn't a 32 lap race, we'd have made the flag at least

Anmother flipping lost connection for me with 3 laps to go and Goldtop behind me (Ooer)
Yep, DC on final corner for me (well that's where i left the server), I actually think I dc'd at the up hill hairpin a few seconds earlier. That's where Geoffers disappeared. I didn't know if it was him or me that had left the server! Shame, great fun 'till then. 2 Mustangs nose to tail for 33 laps, with ever decreasing levels of grip I know DC's happen now and then, but it's very rare for me to DC from anything, I have a very stable connection. So if there's a lot of DC's, for poeple, then could there be an issue somewhere?

First of all - big apology for first lap! My PC was frozen for couple of seconds Ah, that might explain the stationary Corvette just after the downhill right/left at the start , certainly gave me a shock. I managed to move to the left onto the grass, but ended up getting a bit of damage from the barrier on the inside. My sudden slowing may have scared a few behind me too! Lost a load of places, and found myself from P8, down in 12th or 13th, behind Syd in his Alfa, and lapping slower than I'd like really, but I couldn't get by, even though I felt I was a lot quicker. I soon had Mark in his Ferrari closing on me, and he flew by, only to lose ground again as per his post. Mark got by again soon after, only to hit trouble later in the race. Eventually I got by Syd, and was then running 1.5 to 2 secs per lap quicker, but was sadly well behind the guys ahead. Gradually closed on a few, and got lucky from other experiencing issues, and ended up in P7. 1 place higher than I'd qualified, so that was ok. Although my best lap time was quicker than the 3 cars ahead of me, so it was an opportunity lost there. Odd trouble joining too. Weird really. I'd been on earlier in the evening with 3 or 4 others, but joining later on the evening, kept getting CTD. Ended up adjusting to another resolution to get it to run, though I'd used the other rez @ Keimola last week...odd .

UKGTL / UKGTL / Re: Should we migrate to the Simbin lobby?

I'm easy either way. I guess for 'new' members, having the default lobby would be easier for them, so maybe it'd lean me that way. That said, there'd be a bunch of guys have to change their settings which be a pain for them. I'm confident I can swap my lobby settings around if I need to, so don't have a problem if it changes. I'm no expert on this, but don't think the lobby would cause DC issues though? For me, the other lobby just causes extra install/setup hassle for new members. I've voted to migrate to the default, on the basis that it might help attract new people, and that exisiting members will be competent enough to swap things across....but i'm on the fence really . I'll go with the flow.

UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 13 Mini's -v- Escort's - Zandvoort - Jun 17

I'd given both cars a go in practice, and using Geoffers' now Legendary Mini setup, I was in the 1m21's with it. Trouble was, I was only able to do a couple of laps at that pace before the front left tyre overheated, and I started to drop off in lap times (nothing to do with the set-up, just my poor FWD driving technique!). Also, the front left wear looked like it might be high, so over 36 laps, I'd maybe never get to the flag without stopping.
With the above in mind, I went for the Escort, and even though I my best lap was 1 second slower with it, I felt over the race distance, it would be more consistent for me.
At the Green, it seemed like the Escorts had Nitro, as I moved up a few places. Found myself in the lead for a bit after quickslilver went deep into T1 (Tarzan). His pace saw him get back into the lead after a few laps. Once the race settled I found myself in P2, between the 2 yellow Mini's. Rolf in P3 drove a great race, and was always in my Mirrors.
I'd hoped that the Mini's may drop away later in the race from having the possible front tyre wear that I anticipated, but their maintained their pace.
Great stuff though. Shame for Mike with the warm-up misunderstanding, I hope you can make it next time. With luck, if a colleague of mine sorts out his install, he'll get on the grid in a couple of the Monday series in the future as well.

To repeat the congratulations from all, well done Andy, a great 2nd half of the season, and the championship!
For me, given the calibre of the drivers in the novice class of racing, I was pleased to pick up 3 podiums through the season, and end up 4th in the championship.
I need to sort out my driving in the opening laps of races.
In the early rounds, I qualified intentionally at the back, so as to get a safe start. It soon became clear that with the overall pace of the field being as quick as it was, that I was losing too much time in the early laps of the races, and by the time the race had settled down, I had already lost considerable time on some competitors ahead.
By mid season, I'd started to push a bit in Qualifying, and ended up in the midfield (always dangerous) of the grid, and trying to be reactive to what was going on around me, got through a few lap 1 situations people were finding themselves in, to find myself in eventual podium positions.
Towards the end of the season, I tried to push a bit more, from the start, and found myself in the top 5 on the grid on occasion, but I need to be more confident with cars nearby early on in the race. The last 3 races saw me drive off the track twice for fear of turning in on another car at T1.
Through the season, my fastest race lap compared to the overall fastest race lap, saw a gradual improvement, with the opening 2 races being 1 1/2+secs off the pace, and at the end of the season I was about 6/10ths from the fastest race lap. Still need to fins 1/2 a second though, and retain the consistency.
Looking forward to future seasons, and I'll maybe have to take a look at some other GPL champs here. But then, there's only so many hours in the week.
Well done to all involved in this season, some great driving race after race. Thanks to UKGPL & Admin team for setting it all up.

Jumped into the pits expecting a 18sec stop for a quick splash of fuel, and spent the rest of the race watching my car being refuelled :'( .
Did you turn the ignition off? If not, the pit crew will just sit and stare at you until you do.. Ah that could have been it then. Never pitted in PnG. Though they attached the fuel hose etc, so it looked like everything was 'go', they just never removed the hose. Again, my fault for joining late, and not checking fuel usage, and not practicing fuel stops (not that I expected to be doing one ). Thx for the tip. I'll test it out. I did try randomly pressing a few buttons in panic mode, to try to spark some life into my stop. Hence my silly 'Hi' in chat late on. I apologise to everyone for that. Enjoyed the racing though. I need to set aside more time on Thursday evenings...somehow.

Great fun. first PnG race in ages. Joined late due to unexpected family visit. Lively early laps following 2 Porshces, with Mogget's Escort close by, 'till it blew up. Got up to P3, and was closing on P2 (but wouldn't have closed the gap before the end of the race I don't think) then realised that despite taking about 5 ltrs more than the setup suggestion, noticed that I was about 10ltrs short to get to the flag . Jumped into the pits expecting a 18sec stop for a quick splash of fuel, and spent the rest of the race watching my car being refuelled :'( . Silly of me, but that's what happens when running late. I was concerned joining the championship at the last round, that I might effect someone's points, so in some ways, finishing as I did was probably the best thing.

Aha - says Mr 2x 2nd places. Maybe that tactical withdraw from Mosport did the trick then hehehe, but let's not start that one off again! I wish I could have been 2 places at once :-) . As there is the 2 race amnesty rule in the GPL'65 season, it did make the decision easier! I was committed to race in a Historic GT event (rfactor). Started 31st on the grid and finished 19th (6th in class), though still well off the pace of the fast guys Result hereIf you've a lot of time on your hands, the event replay can be found on Youtube (Race action starts @ 29m 10sec). I'll be in the slow De Tomaso being lapped frequently. At the end of the day it's a shame, as I like Mosport Park. Given the chance, I'd certainly have competed. It also happened to be my son's birthday on 30th APril, but the Restaurant meal celebration had to wait until the Thursday!

Driving the Cooper for the first time, and having had very little practice on the circuit (though I new the basic layout), I figured that starting at the back might be a safe option for this one, and try to get a steady result.
T1 seemed to be ok, but there was something on the hill down to T2 which needed careful negotiating. Did that, and ran steady for a lap or so with, a few more cars having spins etc in the early laps.
Once thing had settles, I was in P6, and stayed there to the flag. Didn't have the pace to catch the guys ahead, and although the cap was usually between 7 and 10secs, I was constantly aware of the 3 faster guys behind, but luckily, the fact that they were dicing, and losing time every now and then, enabled me to keep a safe distance ahead. My best lap being a 1m41.9s, compared to 1m39's and 1m40's behind me.
So P6 was all in all a decent result, having started at the back. Well done to the guys ahead for the great pace. Moved down 1 place in the Champ table, though with the 2 results dropped rule, Andy's win puts him back into contention for the championship race.
Being 3rd in the table, I'm not sure if I'll get back into my BRM for Mosport. Though the Cooper was ok to drive.

Slidevoort, as I've affectionately named it over the years, was very kind to me for this race.
During practice, I was unable to get into the 1m30's, but knew from our visit last season, that I should be able to find that sort of time. Though was able to run comfortably in the 1m31's
Qualifying: Was pleased to get a P7 or P8, and it the 1m30's, though never looked like getting anywhere near the 1m29's, or even 1m28's, so well done to Pole, and anyone in the sub 1m30's. Great stuff.
Race: The opening corners went very well, and I found myself in P8 once the dust had settled. It was then a case of running steady and safe. I do try to drive like I don't want to 'virtually' hurt myself, or the car, and despite encountering a couple of spinners along the way, the GPL marshals as ever did a great job with the Yellow Flags, and I was able to react to any incidents ahead. Shame to see that my best lap yesterday was 2/10ths slower than last season, but sometimes circumstances in the race can dictate how hard you need to push at any given time to achieve a result.
The final P2 was a bit flattering really, as it relied on the misfortune of others (Giovanni's DC etc.). The final 2 laps did seem a bit 'laggy', and I feared I was going to DC, but made it to the flag ok.
Well done all, see you at Oulton Park
