I like the sound of it but the usual sticky tape, string and swearing of GPL installation is putting me off.

I have absolutely no idea of what you speak. 

There are just a few advantages to old age and alzeim ahlseimerz.......I think what I mean is forgetfulness, but I can't remember.

BTW Clive I might be visiting oop North ( well, for me it is past Gloucester!)  in June for the Oulton Park Vintage Festival meeting along with Andy Livingston, might try and persuade Bernie to make an appearance too?

Not looking too good.  GPL will not work with my pedals.


EDIT:  Faffed about with it and got it to work.  Did lap of Kyalami in Lotus.  Felt like going home ;-)

Now to look at 1955.  



PS  There is an unbelievable amount of North past Gloucester!  We may have run away to Yorkshire by then.

I don't have an account at SRMZ.  Is there any other way of getting Buemos Aires?

Also I can't see any readme file with the Spa'67 so haven't a clue where to unpack it to.  ;-(

 Keep plugging away Clive, the 55's with the built in brake fade are a whole new adventure in GPL.

If the developers have modded the disappearing brakes even close to reality, then the drivers back then were incredibly brave!!

Rationing the availability of braking effect takes some getting used to, and the only comforting thought is that every one else is suffering equally

I find the best way to slow these things down (Other than using the track side objects) is to use the gears and/or chuck it sideways, The tyres seem to have "Marginally" more retardation than the brakes.

I think that is the emerging consensus John. I have not read any posts yet around the reliability issues for various cars, especially about things falling apart if the gearbox is abused? and the engine being over revved on downshifts.  That will all be revealed in the fullness of time 

No comments from the developers as to what their intentions were, but that is quite normal for new releases in GPL, they leave us to stumble around in the dark and discover things for ourselves which is all part of the fun in GPL land.

I'm stuck.

I've done it all as instructed, I think, but Gem2 just gives an error when I try to save or open GPL.

Also, I've downloaded the mod twice but there is still no sign of a GPL55.exe file anywhere.

OK this feels wierd!! I am going to try and offer computer advice  Please stand well back and use protective clothing!!!

I presume that you have done a fresh install of GPL from the CD using the GPLPS installer? So that you have a virgin GPL with the original 67 carset.
So, does the basic 67 game run? as a standalone game?

I have Gem 2.5.32, which I believe is the latest version.
Will Gem work with the virgin GPL install?

If things only go pear shaped when you try to install the 55 mod......

I trust that you have ensured that you have all the track files listed in the readme section of the 55 download instructions BEFORE you attempt to install the 55 mod? cos it won't work if you don't. Check that you have the correct version of the Buenos Airies track and the Spa67 track not the original Sierra version?

I had a similar issue with the "error" message recently and it was caused by the xxSEASON.INI files being corrupted. I am suspecting that your 55SEASON.ini file does not have the correct tracks and therefore the 55 mod will not load ?

Of course, this might all be total nonsense.........................and if it is,
I would suggest posting for help on the UKGPL forum as there are one or two members who were involved in the development of this new mod and they should be able to assist Clive.

Don't ask me why but it now works!   

Have done a few laps of Zandvoort in both Lancia and Vanwall.
