May I suggest using the '06 version of Oschers? :)

T1 of the 2007 version is awefull and has also very strict cutting rule. Touching the curb usually results in a c/t warning.

Thanks for the heads up Jeff. I'll have to look into it.
I think I remember we did a WTCC there and had no problems, but that may have been down to a lack of actual cars on the track?

Indeed, we did a funrace here with only the 5 of us. In T1 there is a high curb and even when you are well in the rules and have two wheels on that curb it gave me a c/t. I think the other Sharks had that too, what I heard over TS.
Could be me  :whistling:

I'll back Jeff up on this one, I got a couple of cut warnings off the first kerb just from touching it, I was probably who you heard going "eh?" over team speak. It's a little over-zealous.

Not a big problem in itself, as they changed the track in 07 to stop cutting. Leave it up to Don to decide on this one I think. :)

The tracks up on the server atm.
I personally like the 07 layout as it gives something different to the original GTR2 track.
I'll try get a few cars on there so we can test it.

After some testing it would seem that T1 at Oschersleben 07 shouldn't really cause any problems with regards to cut warnings. (you have to take nearly half the round kerb to get the warning!)... But it is a likely accident spot, so I urge all our drivers to use some common sense and caution at this turn! Lets keep it clean and tidy.

Have I got something wrong, or are we having a pit stop in this race by having 19 laps?? The tanks only seems to fill to 18laps.

No pitstop required. I can do the 19 laps with 7.4 gallons(that's less than 38 litres for you young 'uns)

I'm around high 33/low 34 now, but that's with only a few laps :).

I also used the setup that came with the game and surprisingly it's quite oversteery. And if ya wanna slide...sliiiiide ;D

I'll be missing this one.  It's my 3rd wedding anniversary today ... and I thought it might be sensible to forego racing for some brownie point scoring.  So instead of Caterhams I'll be tucking into a nice big steak - yum.

Hope you all have fun tonight ... and don't end up in a big pile at T1.

Enjoy your steak, I'm off to Phantom of the Opera in London tomorrow night with Mrs.

I'm hoping to get ANY practice at all in before this race as I really don't want to be TOTALLY unprepared for this race if there is room for me, but I might be too late getting round to join again. :-\

I've not even tried the Caterham's yet, I was planning on practicing last night but I ended up spending the entire evening trying to reinstall rFactor!  That '88 mod is good though ;D

I'll be along if there's room :)

I know Ruskus has re-installed his copy as well... :-X

A comparison between the Race '07 Caterhams and the rFactor ones would be nice. ;D

Lol, mr only Alfa driver ;) .

To be honoust, I quite prefer rF over GTR2 now, I love the devirsity it offers. I have even joined an American league which races at 3am Dutch time, just because I love those mods (E320, Megane, Enduro, F1 1979), and I will also race at SSCA March the 8th :)

It was just the FFB putting you off then?

I suppose since Race '07 uses a similar (if not the same) engine to GTR2 it has good FFB? ???

Well I don't know what happened there, it suddenly stuttered to a halt. Alt-Tabbed out and back but had no sound whatsoever. Then rebooted and came back moaning about stuck video device driver thread.

Had no trouble at all in GTR2 on Sunday night so possibly Race '07 just pushes it that bit harder. Tempted to take the Xi-Fi out and use built-in sound as I never seem to have anything but trouble with Creative products (though this card came out of the old machine where it was never a problem).

That was awefull, last time I use a Simbin piece of poo setup. Was good for 1 lap, then it started to understeer and the car did shite.

Race 1 was already very annoying due to that, also because the race lasted too long.
Race 2 was even worst and I was absolutely not enjoying myself. So when I was alone on track I started messing around but that got boring as well so I crashed it into the wall at the s/f straight.:D

Well that was quite an amusing side from the seriousness of GTR2. Qualified 6th or something of that order and promptly went into 4th with a stellar start in Race 1. Then got 3rd with Dan Minton falling off and then 50% of the race lonely and a bit dull if it weren't for the ability to make the car fun by using more right foot.

Second race was more fun at the start with lots of people, but that soon pettered out and when I passed Jeff who was hating how his car felt it was VERY lonely for the remainder of the race and I took my second 3rd position of the night.

God knows what it was talking about with the fuel as my light didn't come on at all. I also felt the races were a wee bit too long for having 2 of them. I think 15 laps would have been better, but heck there you go.

Have to say thank god I had a setup from our previous test race at Anderstorp cause the Simbin one sucked. I could barely drive the car on the Simbin setup. Those Caterhams are good fun BUT ONLY because you can make them do fun things with your right foot, everything else about them screams understeer, so I'm pretty sure my setup stiffens the rear a lot and softens the front a lot.

I just don't get these cars, I just suck at them! :D I actually had a fair bit of practice for this race.

Amazed to qual in 3rd for R1 but my usual incompetence  with standing starts dropped me 3-4 places;D All was going well though until I span and took Dan out with me, sorry Dan, I just completely lost control :(

Race 2 was a nightmare in the first few laps, I had 2 massive freezes which lost me a ton of time, I hope no-one suffered as a result :-\

I had a fantastic scrap with Tinman after that. That was great driving, apologies for the couple of bits of contact, that was my inexperience with the cars.

Well, after it came back up, as I was shutting it down again it wanted to install some updates so I reckon Automatic Updates popped something up during the race and that's what probably did me in.

Whilst I was trying to fix it I noticed some unrecognised devices in the Hardware Manager - the mobo install disk went into a flap when I installed the chipset drivers first time around so I download them (same version as on the disk) and they went in without touching the sides so *touch wood* it should all be okay in future. :-X

Pity 'cause despite not really having good steering feel I'd made up three places when it crashed, one off the grid and two who threw themselves off the road. :D

Meh. That was a bit of a chore really. Had the same problems as everyone else with the Simbin setups - terminal understeer after a few laps.

I don't really get Oschers - never have done really, and the Cats are still a bit of a hit-and-miss affair for me. Sometimes I can be quick, but it's almost down to luck!

Thanks to Don for organising the races, but I think they need to be a little shorter next time - I went a lap down after a stop/go in race 2 and totally lost the will to live :D

Had some good tussles with various people - Ade, Mr. BA, Pops and a few others. Can't remember them all, but they were fun while they lasted (and before inconsistency spat me off the track!)

Yaha, agree with most here that the races could be a little shorter - if they were 10 laps Bara might have taken the second race! ;D Share the honours around a bit.

Saying that....first double!  8)

Jeff had the same problems as many, with the standard simbin setup. In the middle of the corner it was just a little slower and pushing wide, very fast none-the-less.  :)
TBH I was quite lucky, I just took my Anders setup as that's what I do. Make one setup, then use it for the next track and change it, so I only use the defualt setup once per car. It was still understeery but bit in a little better.

R1 was great with Jeff, really close and good defending for ages ;D
R2 was once again with Bara and for a while I wondered how I could get past as he was fast everywhere, but then he went off and gifted it to me  :-[  Boring after that  8)

Didn't expect 1 win let alone 2. Don't worry, I'll be back to being crap in the Rad's next time. Well done Simon on the double third ;D and hope you sort out your beast of a PC Dave....very odd indeed  ???. Apparently 8800gt's are a bit marginal on heating sometimes due to being single-slot coolers, maybe that's it?

It was stone cold when I put my finger on it. Sims really don't push these cards very hard at all. I'm pretty sure it was the Windows Update which did me in. >:(

I really enjoyed the tussle,Pops. On at least one of those occasions the light contact was my fault. No harm done, though, and it kept up the interest level. Off to test with Simon's setup now, it cannot be any worse than mine (or Simbin's)

This game is a bit strange ..dont know if its how im setting the car up or if its coz im over driving the car but i always find that the car comes in very quick then about 2 laps later it goes off and feels crap. ???    There was no way i could have kept Simon behind me and threw it off trying then done the old Cole Trickle move when Pops spun in front of me but he ended up being right in front of me!!  But no probs mate maybe i should have braked.
Hadnt played this game for a couple of months and i dont think i will be again ...dosent give know where near the amount of enjoyment and satisfaction as GTR and legends.
Grats to podium.
Cheers

Thats weird, my 8800GTX starts melting once I've been playing Race a while, unless I turn on the chasis fan. Although, I suppose it could be the CPU/System temp that's doing it, I've never really checked, all I know is my system just shuts down if I forget to turn the chasis fans up!

Had fun last night, just used the standard setup and didn't really have any problems, but then I'm never as fast as fast folk here anyway. A couple of incidents i think with Pops, I think two were my fault so I'll let him away with the one that wasn't! :P

Thanks to everyone that showed up.
I'll take the point about shortening the races slightly and knock 5 or so minutes off of each event.
