Title: UKGPL Season 40 (Spring 2022) 1967 Sports Cars - Porto - Apr 29 Post by: Cookie on April 27, 2022, 12:58:05 PM +0100 Season 40 - SC67 Cup – Round 7 - Porto
The 7th round of the SCX Season 40 will be held at Porto Circuito da Boavista is a street circuit in Porto, Portugal, which was used twice for the Formula One Portuguese Grand Prix. The original course began at the harbor-front 'Esplanada do Rio de Janeiro', continued on 'Avenida da Boavista', (hence the circuit's name), and then twisted its way through small neighborhoods back to the start-finish line. The first Grand Prix was held in 1958, and saw an act of sportsmanship by Stirling Moss. Moss came to the defense of his countryman and title rival Mike Hawthorn, who faced a penalty for having driven towards oncoming traffic after a spin. Moss persuaded the stewards not to disqualify Hawthorn, who retained his second place and 6 points. Hawthorn eventually won the drivers championship by 1 point over Moss. Please check the Season 40 details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=1691&theme=6) regarding rules and the SCX Cup pages (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=1761&theme=6) in particular. In order to add an element of realism, and to hopefully reduce the possibility of rear-end incidents, the brake light patch will be used (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=13319&#entry145626)
Handicapping "Works" drivers will carry extra weight in form of 6 gallons (~27 Liter) of race fuel (to remain in the tank after the race). No limit in quali! Drivers are expected to behave in a fair and gentlemanly fashion and declare how much fuel they have left after the race. 1 x Reset will be allowed there is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R. Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty. Only reported incidents will be moderated. Please restrict chat to emergency messages only including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line. WIP

Yannick drove great. I tried as hard as I could to lead and win the race. It took him more than 18 laps to break me for the last time. I was a little disappointed he beat me for fast lap but I´m very happy that I finally was able to give him a great challenge. My apologies for the accident. I was very glad that it appeared neither of us needed a reset and the accident had no real effect on the outcome of the race. I hope one of these days I can start getting some practice for these races. I need to be very fast and consistent if I want to beat Yannick or Tristan. I´m fairly satisfied with my speed by the time the races end but my consistency is lacking some. Thanks for the fun guys and once again, great job Yannick. Nice one, gys. :) A reasonable run for me in the 2F Chaparral but after colliding not once but twice with Pete, I rather lost interest and just cruised it in. I didn't bother with planning out the wing. Just set it for 8° and left it at that. 9.3USG left on board at the flag. |
