I went to the European Truck GP at Silverstone in the mid 80's. Amazing stuff. Barry Shene was racing one of the trucks back then and I had the pleasure of seing Barry McQuigen (SP? the boxer) roll a MG Metro

Didn't see any of the Formula Renault stuff, only the Clios, Legends, and the trucks themselves (barking!). Weather was a bit naff so we left after the second truck race.

Bunch of sad truckers hooting their horns and parading their erm "luverly" cabs round the track at lunchtime break too. Never seen anything so bizarre in my entire life.
The truck racing itself was entertaing if a little short, we managed to catch the last lap crash (is that what you call it when 2x lorry cabs collide) at Druids as one of the drivers lost it under braking and went sideways into the corner and disposing of the other cab in front of him.

Big trucks make track thinner, looks like it'd be hard to overtake.

I used to watch on Eurosport huge, 4 axe powered trucks climb over rough terrain, slowly, they had to pass through specified "doors", made of wooden sticks, planted into the ground. Could somebody tell me what this competition/sport is called?
