Was able to get to practice around 7pm to make a few laps. Steam games from last week meant I lost all my setups
and had to start from scratch. Also, bumps and undulations on this track makes setting suspension really difficult. After getting away from understeer I managed to make things better by making dampers more stiff (stiffened them up ?). Was lucky to get pole and even luckier to stay in front all race 1.
Random grid (too bad you left, Apex, Matt
) placed me in front and I decided it would be fair to start from the back, as would be in correct server set-up. Left everybody through and I must say the second race was much more enjoyable. Most people made mistakes and positions were shifting constantly. Then Legzy came to the front with some seconds lead, got lonely and allowed us through. I did the same a bit later and there was a hit moment as 3 of us were in the mood of getting into hairpin side by side.
Low turnout doesn't mean dull racing so I'm all for going on with these cars for fun and with Sport class for more serious racing.
As we spoke on TS we might consider races just a few laps shorter as these tyres are too soft for this format. 12 laps would have been better last night.
@Goldtop: oversteering into chicane was probably the result of either braking bias too much to the rear or the rear dampers were too stiff / front dampers too soft.
Am I not wise (even) beyond my years?
That said, one of these days I'll have to try to drive a FW car to see if I'm slower or faster.
