Just had a quick run with the different cars here. All except the vette top out on the rev limiter halfway down the straight at the longest gearing, and the Vette is right on the edge.
Is this intended? seems a bit rum.

I can now change 5th, dunno why I couldn't before. GT40 still tops out though.

Think the glorious start to the F1 season may have inspired me to get back to simracing. And this track seems like a nice straightforward mini-LeMans, mad straights and lots of esses at the end of the lap. Like Matt says, gearing seems a problem for some cars like the GT40, not quite maxing out the Corvette and the Beemer has lots of spare gears. One mod that woulda been nice is the option for higher gearing for most cars once the add-on tracks with long straights came along, wouldn't exactly be unrealistic. Corvette is massive fun, and awesome straightline speed, but a bit tricky transitioning from understeer to oversteer at the apex. low 2:09s in that. Beemer is a fraction slower, but much easier, just a fair bit of safe understeer, 2:10 dead.

I appreciate you are into the latter part of the season but would it be okay for me to join you (in my usual place at the back) for the last few races.
Also do we know what track is being used for the next PnG race - last Thursday was great fun.

High 2:09's if I'm lucky in my lovely spotty Team Oldie BMW or... Mid 2:09's in the Team Oldie Escort but was .5 up on that before I blew it on the last stage , so know I can break into the 08's & was far more consistent in Escort. I'm not sure I'll sleep well tonight with this decision hanging over me

Thats very good PR, never fell for it for a minute Its high 9's in the Vette or 7/8's in the bimmer for me, not an easy one considering the Vette is ace. I appreciate you are into the latter part of the season but would it be okay for me to join you (in my usual place at the back) for the last few races.
Of course you'll be welcome Laurie. Its first come first served but if you are worried about nicking a regulars spot, as the Champs come to a finale, you could wait a little before joining pre quali pracci session, but I'm sure there will be room. PnG news coming soon. Hope tonight's races are a pointer for morrow. If so, it should be a blinder I would just add that if I'm, or anybody else, is brave/mad enough to take the Vette that it just doesn't stop well. You'll have to be very careful around it or the GT40. PATIENCE, the word of S7, will be needed in spades.

I don't think I have much choice but to take the BMW. Although, after consistently spinning off due to dropping into second gear way too early, way too often, I think I'll need to set the H shift to sequential for the evening, however, I will be keeping the lever on the right -- I did this for my first race at Österreichring and faired reasonably well. Is it normal to change the position of the gear lever depending on whether one is driving a left-hand or right-hand car? Does this kind of behaviour mean I'm crazy? Answers on a postcard please

Perfectly normal behaviour, for crazy people Although, after consistently spinning off due to dropping into second gear way too early, way too often, Two suggestions you can do to your setup to minimise this, 1) Increase your coast diff, as you do the car will become more stable when your foot's not on the accelerator. 2) In the BMW, I had all my gears moved to the their highest points. So 1st gear became pretty much the old second. This meant all the gearing's were closer together, so the early shift down reaction was less violent. Sadly, none of that helps me decide BMW or Escort
