LOL
Very good. I have this picture of him stomping around the pits at Daytona with an albatros tied around his neck.
Anyway; too busy practicing pit stops to go posting things here!

For info, the practice server is set for 1x tyre wear and 2x fuel consumption as per the race announcement.
Which would be good if I could see it. Are you sure that it's running? I just checked and I couldn't see it in the lobby either. Server was running, but I've rebooted with same settings and all appears ok. Strange Over the last 4-6 weeks, both GTR2 & PnG servers seem to have been "falling out of the lobby". If people see they're not available, the quickest way to get it back up is just to let us know on the next coming race thread & someone will sort it Not sure if we should be worried about it longer term though

Phew ..... finally broke that 2 min barrier in the GT40 MK2. Unfortunately, this car has some very strange concrete-magnets placed in the right-side body-panels, so most inconveniently the car is inevitably drawn towards the merciless rails of Daytona What laptimes are the fast and furious topguns doing in their yellow group cars I wonder ? Hope to CU guys thursday, that is if I can make home in due time. Stig / Hotkeys

I'll not make this. Hope the new setup works well and does that mean I'll have my pick of cars for 1st race?

You are in the wrong group then.... Lets not be hasty Paulo. The points are awarded at the end of the race not the end of qualifying. I think it is quite possible, in fact likely, that the green group may have the front row of the grid but the people who can lap at or near their best for an hour are in the yellow group. And that is how you win races. One of the green group may even hang on until the bitter end and win! But that will only earn him a slower car in the next race. Mike may have some tweaking to do to establish just how much difference there should be between the potential performance of the three groups of cars but the system should be self governing. It will not be worth trying to determine if it works until we have about four races under our belts, to smooth out stray results. Looking forward to it. To me it appears that it should promote closer racing. That will also, probably, promote more incidents between cars; because instead of the great and the good dueling at the front of the field with a good deal of mutual respect and equal ability, they may find themselves stuck behind, say, me in a faster car! A good deal of patience may be called for from all parties.

broke the 2min mark !?? jeebers, and i was pleased with my 2:05 times in the IROC Not had a chance to try any other cars yet but hope to do so later on. As before, would be useful to know what sort of benchtimes to aim for as unless its a familiar track you dont know where you stand pace wise.

Clive said it perfectly. He points out the essence of the handicapping theory. It takes more than a few hot laps to win and the quicker guys will certainly be mixing it up with the everyone at some point in time. He also pointed out that it may take a few races for us to tweak the car selections. I'm hoping to feel my way through that this 1st season and then focusing on a car group for subsequent seasons.
Under 2 minutes is very quick and I'm guessing it should land a front row starting position. I'm running 2:01's in the L88 Roadster. I'm not digging the tires on this car so those times fall off mid stint. This is a big power track. It rewards vehicles with big power in those long banked turns. The GT40 Mk2 has huge speed. Can the drivers hold it together? How quick will they be with the pit stops? Will their pit strategy work? I'm looking forward to finding out.

Whilst I'm looking forward to the straight battle with faster cars, the pit strategy element concerns me, it always has done. I, as a simple man, want to race as fast as I can and like to be be beaten by someone faster than me. I'm really not interested in working out the best strategy, there seems to be a real difference between 914 and L88 here for example, and neither am I keen on strategy deciding races.
Prolly just me but I really don't want strategy element to be dominant for these races or any to be honest. I'd rather use the existing "sprint" format :'(

I'm in the opposite side Ian, I love the strategy, the pressure - while driving - thinking on the pit stops and reading/feeling the tire wear and fuel, it turns me on and it brings me the top of the reason to race. Sprint races? Sure, once in a while to get something different sometimes. To use some car/track combos. But pit stops during a race adds more real feel, at least to me. That's why I'm an endurance race lover.

On that we can agree. Some pitting, some 2 times wear and some sprint races please? Another thing that concerns me is flakey add on tracks and pitstops. All too often they are faulty in some way and its very hard to pick that up in testing. The worse way to finish a race is stupid s/g's or waiting in pits for nothing to happen.
