Navin was apparently emulating
the famous German Mr Schumacher with his bash up the back as I had Tony on the inside
Copybook replay of the incident at Singapore   Roll Eyes

Wow, one would think being compared to Schumacher would be a good thing Undecided. Well, we are the same age and certainly are not driving as well lately. And to top it off I totally forgot about hip checking Bill  Sad . So sorry Bill. You two guys can sucker punch me at any point in the future Wink.

Yes, A sort of disaster for me. Lap one turn 3 spinout from too much rear brake trying to avoid plowing into Berger. And then just the opposite a few laps later in turn one when I ran out of talent and collected Matt when I braked too late. I was trying to throw myself off line to avoid the hit which just helped me get over the wall and DOA. I am very sorry Matt for the hit Embarrassed. I went an entire season once without hitting anyone from behind. This year has been less than what I expect from myself Undecided. I'm glad to see you were able to soldier on and get a good finish Cool. I have no excuses for this race as I had some decent practice time but just had a bad day today Sad. Good thing is I hear the sun will still come up tomorrow Grin. Cheers

Matt ponders which car for this track. Wait.. What the...  I think I smell bratwurst Wink
35  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 12 Shelby AC Cobra Challenge - Mosport - Sep 17 on: September 18, 2012, 07:02:13 PM +0100
So true that it was great early in the run. I got a decent start but bogged it just slightly so Geoffers got to turn one first. I was having a little struggle with the Cobra on heavy fuel but got to terms with it and started putting some pressure on Geoffers but he was running very well especially with no practice time. Kept pushing and was able to get side by side going up the backstraight a couple of times but was on the outside and couldn't finish the pass. Good tight racing!! Grin. I saw that Mark was closing down on us and I thought I need to get this pass done! I was trying to get a better exit on the last corner only too get very loose and lost it. I got up 2 wheels up on the pit lane guardrail and grinded it like a proper skater would Shocked. But I did come down luckily with only a minor wound on the right wing. It didn't seem to hurt the cars handling so I was back in the chase Smiley. Closed down on Mark and Geoffers who were now in their own scrap. I saw Geoffers go off and was now right on the back of Mark. Had a couple of laps of some good battling with Mark who was driving just as well as Geoffers and then the server crashed all our fun Sad. But as Mark said these things happen and thank goodness not nearly as often as they use to in the old days of SimRacing. Cheers fellas

I don't think it was anything you did Picnic as the laps were set correctly at 26. But the results are screwy because I know I was second and Mark was first. Not sure about the others Undecided
37  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 12 Shelby AC Cobra Challenge - Mosport - Sep 17 on: September 17, 2012, 09:42:57 PM +0100
Well that was a fast one Wink Too bad Geoffers you didn't last a couple of laps longer as the server decided to restart to next track for some reason Sad. Although it was not here I'm convinced this very same thing happened to a group of us(maybe GTLDK or another)at this track once before Huh. Oh well, fun stuff while it lasted and congrats Mark!!! Grin

Thank you Picnic for starting things up Cool.

Thanks for the heads up Tony. We will try to not muck things up Wink. Cheers

Yet another wacky beginning before the race and I have to raise my hand for being responsible for all the Jag problems at this race. Tony was able to guess that I might have two different files for the Jaguar and as it turned out I did. The original 1.0 Jag was called "Jaguar type D" and the Jag 1.1 update was called "Jaguar D-Type" and somehow I missed that. Fail 101 Hit with a wet fish. As far as Matt not having problems at Avus wouldn't that be because no one was using a Merc there? A quick look at Matts race attendance shows no Mercs ever run in the races he participated. As far as this race goes I was looking forward to driving the Merc and was hoping for some good battling. With Matts Merc issue I switched to DB2 as this was the only other car I tried before the race. At the start I got a good jump and saw that a couple of guys were leaning abit on each other and it looked like I had a clear hole to get through I think I rubbed shoulders a bit with one of the two cars already in hip check. Although it was light contact I have to apologize for that but a quick look in the mirrors didn't show any cars crashed out or off track so I was glad for that. After turn one I was able to get into a flow very quick and I have to say we ran this race a couple of season ago at GTLDK when we had our LeMans series going were I was in the L88 Vette the whole season and I spent an obnoxious amount of time practicing here because with that Vette and this place it was even more of a challenge then these cars(except maybe for that big Maser!!). Just hit my lines and stayed within the limits of the car and track and brought here home for 1st Grin.

I'd like to dedicate that race to the thousands of people that unwillingly gave their life on this tragic day 11 years ago. Especially the 343 that ran into their death by trying to help save the others... :'(
41  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 12 Real GTL - Cadwell Park (Full) - Sep 10 on: September 12, 2012, 03:57:17 AM +0100
What a great race this was. Even before the start it was like F-1 style qualy as I thought I would be the last one to set a time with seconds to go at the line. Then I saw Mark maybe 3-4 seconds behind and even though I put in my best lap of the day and had current pole Mark grabbed it by about 1/10th of a second!! Good show!! Cool The race went a little better at first with me getting a demon start and then seeing Mark and Hristo battling it out. That did not last and although I was trying to gap Mark he did close down on me and started pushing me harder than I wanted to go so when going downhill into turn 3(Charlies) I went a bit deep and Mark was right on it through to first. I really wasn't happy with the car with full fuel but after a time found a balance and started to copy Marks lines around the track and found some speed. I was able to close down on Mark and put some pressure. Mark was super fast in the first sector of the track but to do this you really had to do that walk a tightrope on the outside of turn 3 to get a good exit and when I saw him just barley drop a couple of wheels I knew the track would suck him in as that's a real bad spot for that. I got through and had maybe a 4 second lead at that point. I knew we were so close in lap time if I could just go at like 95-97% speed that would reduce the chance of an error and hopefully be enough to get to the end in 1st. And at first Mark was closing in at 1/10 -2/10 a lap I would then see a drop of a few 1/10ths and the gap more or less remained the same. In the end it was enough and as usual was a treat to drive at this wonderful track Smiley

First off a biggest of congrats to Mark for the overall and second div Championship clap thumbup2 clap

Then I see a tie for the 1st div Championship between Mark and Goldtop both with 3 wins and 1 second place finish. No other races run in div by either so how do we break the tie?
Either way Congrats to you both Mark and Goldtop clap thumbup2 thumbup2 clap

Grats to big boss Tony for his second overall and third in div 1 Championship  clap thumbup2 clap

Grats to Matt for 2nd place in div 2  clap thumbup2 clap

Grats as well to Geoffers for his 3rd place in div 2 and the overall Championship clap thumbup2 clap

And most of all just a big thank you Tony for putting yet another successful series together clap thumbup1 clap

I have to give up  Angry
Restart the PC 3 times, download the track again + 1.1 update...the only thing that happens is: CTD Shocked

Arrgghhh Pelle Sad .. We couldn't figure out what happened to you Huh And we never even saw you try and rejoin and then get CTD so thats odd as well Huh. What a bummer man thumbdown
43  UKGTL / UKGTL Races / Re: UKGTL Season 12 The Fifties - Preluk - Sep 11 on: September 12, 2012, 02:48:48 AM +0100
Yes, very embarrassing to still have this problem Embarrassed as I thought finding the update would just be a quick fix as they usually are once you've found out you've missed something. Pelle's problem could be the update? This one> http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=36155 As far as my deal I'm kind of out of ideas but this LM55 mod is in my "catch all" GTL install which has a ton on add ons so maybe it's time for a fresh install of GTL for this mod. Especially since it's going to be a mainstay series Cool
Navin, how about I copy you the Jag set off the server?

I guess that would do it for sure as long as something else isn't causing the problem. That said, If we are going to be running these long term I think I might just give the LM55 cars their own install as like I said before currently they are in my oldest "dump all add ons" GTL install and it's got a ton of add ons and I really don't like how it's running lately. Today I got a big loss in frame rate during the race for a lap or two that almost caused me to retire Undecided. It takes forever when first starting it as well. RealGTL install is so rocking fast because it has no other things added on I'm thinking it might be nice to have this one that way too. So thanks for the offer Tony but I really should do myself the favor of a fresh install Wink. I'll get on it this week and once up and running see if you could start up the server for this series and see if I'm all good. At least do a quick try at some point well before the next round so if something isn't right I'll have more than a day to fix it Grin. Cheers
