Hi guys i've just tested offline and is it possible to release a patch for the Aston as it gets suspension damage that takes 95 seconds to fix in the pits from even the smallest collisions. I glanced the wall at 50mph, it gave me 5 secs aero damage but the above suspension damage. Then i tried the exact same thing in other cars and they only got aero damage, no suspension damage at all. The thing is although the damage takes ages to fix the car drives like it has no damage at all and also looks like it has none. Anything that can be done to fix this as it is an obvious problem and cost team Supersonic lots of points last night - Nsfast had the same issue as me and lost lots of time in the pits for no good reason.

If the car is driving fine, could you not just select to not repair the damage? :-\ (or stop lightly brushing walls? ;))

Is there some patch ready to go that will fix this Jay?

Indeed - you should always check the pit board even if you think you've got the stop set up with XD - 2 seconds to eyeball it can save huge embarrassment later...

I suppose i will have to do that and select not to repair damage as i don't know of any patch. But im sure it didn't do it last season as i hit some things at Imola before my stop and had no problems  ???

There have been zero changes to the physical or damage model since last season.

I've had the Aston suspension problem in my last two league races for incidents which I would normally expect just aero damage.  ???

The first time was at Imola last season when it didn't seem to impact performance too much so I opted not to repair it when I pitted. Although I still think my laptimes suffered. The second time was last night when it had a major effect on the handling so I had to have it repaired.

Sounds like it maybe a weakness with the Aston that we have to live with.  :(

Weird...I've only raced the Aston once or twice though. Maybe its somehting to look into for the next physics pack?

I tend to use the stock cars.....not sure but I might do the odd race this season. Been really busy the last couple of days with car stuff so I don't think I'll be around for the championship.

so I don't think I'll be around for the championship.
Odds on it being an Oldie title this season have just been slashed at the bookies ;D ;)
We just need our new 'special one' to turn up for the next one

Unless someone knows of a patch for it, or understands how the damage and/or suspension models work, there's not a lot we can do.

new cars added. Superb!
My question is, can I join you on Sunday for Brno's race?

Cheers.

Looking forward to seeing you there. Since it is a while since you raced GTR2 it's probably worth a quick review of the rules e.g. rolling start, chat, pit stop requirements etc.

Hope you enjoy the races this season.

After my debacle with the TVR at Donington, I've been testing other GTC cars and plumped for the excellent Z4. It sticks to the tarmac like poop on a blanket and I can be really precise with the apexes. Got a pb of 2.01.5 so far.

Any tips on setup for Z4? It seems very hard to introduce high speed oversteer even on minimal wing; is that expected for the Z4?

It doesn't need a setup as it's glued to the road & soo easy to drive.
To combat the fact that it can go round corners quicker then a GT1 car, it has had some of it's umph removed (less power & more weight).

Having looked at the weather i think tonight is going to be another case of take your best guess for race conditions and tyres etc. Its tough to setup the car when we don't know if it will rain or not so i am not practicing too much for this one. Note to anyone who chooses the Aston - you will need to check your suspension damage indicator at your stop BEFORE pressing return as even the slightest impacts result in a 95sec repair...  ;)

Lost connection after an exciting first part to the race. Very rare for this to happen to me  :(

Jon did a great quali lap and i started second but seemed able to push harder than early on and soon snuck past. Then for some reason i experienced brain fade at the second to last turn and forgot to brake and hit the wall. Dropped well back and after some great racing with TT & Gazza i was back up into fourth when i DC'd. Oh well, Brno has never been kind to me in all my sim racing days and nothing changed today...

Oooerr missus. First time for a very long time I got a disco from the server.

Was happily trundling along in 2nd not too far behind team mate Jon with Jose not far behind me. Then out of the blue times to everyone else started to rise rapidly. Thought there might be something wrong, hoped it would recover but a lap later it chucked me off. Didn't get booted from TeamSpeak though and I'm 99% trouble free on cable normally.

Server software seemed a bit stressed with a full grid so I guess that wasn't helping things for everyone.

Oh well, not much you can do. Bye bye championship lead. ;D

Not the best of starts for me...managed to get punted round on the warm up lap  >:(
I also had a problem with the pitting (must off been the large number of people on the server) I pressed the request pitstop button, but when I arrived there was someone parked in my pit box :'(
Apart from those couple of incidents I had a really good race....car felt good to drive, if a little slower than everyone else.

Well done teamies for picking up some valuable Championship points..hotting up quite nicely ;)

C u all in Spain....aarreebba!!

Qualifying went well. 1st time I've got on pole with medium tyres on :o After that I thought the race would be fairly easy TBH but JayBlue was a fair bit quicker and after a nice couple of laps racing he got past, he started to pull off but then...I got lucky and he fell off. No doubt he would have won this race hands down if he'd stayed on. I had a nice 20s gap come the pitstop but I'd made a few real life errors. First my steering wheel fell off the table but I was able to jam it back on and only lose about 1s and then I thought my chair was too high so I pulled the lever...Was like an old lady looking over the wheel after that :-[ I had the same old problem at the pits as usual where my crew chief tells me to turn off the already turned off engine(time for a reinstall I think) but I only lost about 15s so no big deal today. After that it was just a matter of trying to be consistent and with Sharky only 5s back he kept me on my toes. Was a shame when he disco'd but I guess that's the way it goes, would've been nice to get a Shark 1-2. Was a nice race overall and I'm glad to have won, thanks to the GTC drivers for being extremely polite 8) and the lapped GT1's too 8)

Nice race. :)

I had a good view of the battle between Jon and JayBlue in the opening laps.

Gutted that I made a couple of mistakes as my pace was rather good by my standards. My last spin (5 mins from the end ::))  put me in the wall and I had major damage. I was lucky that all the wheels stayed on as I was able to limp it back home to claim 5th.  ;D

See you all in Spain. 8)

I had not driven here since the damp race we had a couple of months ago. I was shocked to qualify second in class but had no idea which tyres to choose on a cold day. I got it wrong and was quite pleased to finish 4th having been passed by Dave in the pits and McFids on the track (good fun chase waiting for a mistake which never came).
Well done to all podium finishers and most GT1 lapping attempts. :)

First an apology to phspook for a scary moment while lapping at left hander at the bottom of the hill. I didn't want to lap you there, was gonna wait until the up-straight. You drifted out a bit and I thought you were leaving me room. ::) Good reaction, my man. :)
I tried to use safe parts of the track for lapping, I hope I mostly succeeded, GTCs were real gents. 8)

Qualified 7th with a pb and I was quite satisfied as Brno was never my lucky track. After some dicing with the Psuedo team members and Jayblue I managed to get through and was driving 4th after Jayblue discoed - bad luck. :-\ Then Jose pitted and Shark and Jon and I drove with an empty track in front, thought I was making good time and expected a good result after my pit. :-\ Lol, came out 10 sec behind Jose, so much for my "quick" pitstop. :P Shark and Jose were having a good time which enabled me to slowly creep closer. Then Shark discoed - bad luck again - and some GTCs were to be passed and Jose was 10 sec away again. :( H@l was comming closer from behind but I kept me wits and held. Then Jose must have had some issue with the car, tyres or fuel as I started to close quite rapidly. Ran out of laps, I did. ::) Grats to both podys. I'm well pleased with my third here, one of the rare Champain Occasions on this track. 8)

Erm, I have no objections for ongoing distribution of GT1 podiums, guys. Please note that there are others still without 1st or 2nd place, like H@l and Gazza, etc. Everyone should get their 1st or 2nd place, I'm satisfied with the 3rd, thank you. :P

Good race. 8)

Mostly good race that; was surprised to be fairly competetive in the 997, although it's a very 'point and squirt' track which should suit it.

Qualified 3rd but lost that place early on to McFids avoiding trouble ahead; gave chase and towards the end of the stint I clearly had a better car as the tyres wore. The proportion of GT1 or GTC is a big frightening and at times the lapping traffic was manic; at one point I was in an Aston sandwhich with one of them on the grass passing me. :o ::)

Sadly I bumped McFids round at one point whilst trying to get a run on him. Waited to let him get going again, which should've let Prof get away, but he had his own dramas and it was soon a threesome again. Then more lapping chaos at the top of the hill saw the three of us trying to go into the penultimate corner simultaneously; that worked even less well and at least two of us were off.

Did a couple of steady laps until McFids caught me up again and let him by  also letting Goldtop by in the process. Pit stops were coming and I only needed the tiniest splash of fuel; had no idea what the Z4 needed but Picnic told me over TS it was thirsty so I thought I had a good chance of jumping both of them.

The plan worked and I came out 20 seconds ahead, but I could see the gap closing. Even more worrying, I didn't know whether Goldtop hadn't yet stopped, or whether he'd pulled a fast one and just taken fuel and no tyres. As time pounded on it became clear that the Z4s weren't going to catch me, but although I was closing Goldtop down fast, it wasn't clear whether I could catch and pass him before the end of the race.

With a big sigh of relief I saw him pit with 10 minutes to go, and was able to cruise home in second place, 'best of the rest' a country
mile behind Ginsters.

Really not sure what was going on last night with the server; most of the cars looked stable and solid, with a few specific cars warping - GSI Bob, Terry, and Craske all noticable warping at times. With Shark's disco as well, I wonder if there was a problem on one of the cable networks rather than a server load issue?

Always enjoyed Brno and luckily I just clicked with it and the Spyker during the pracci sessions. Made for an uneventful race though. GT1's were very good although I did get a rather funny clattering from Jon, thought it might have been team tactics  ;) Congrats to all the runners and riders.

Will see how the Spyker goes around Barca (not my best track) and then maybe plump for another motor to "mix it" more. Great turnout but a few more in GTC would be welcome I guess  :)

Terry Roberts and I are on the same network, I have a 6Mb internet connection which should be more than enough. I really hope it's nothing to do with last nights disco's.

Good race for me again, had a battle swapping places with legzy for what seemed like for ever. Legzy put the hammer down after that and left me behind and I spent the rest of the race on my own.

Thanks to all the GTCs great job, and congrats to podiums.

Fantastic close racing last night with Dave and Prof.

Qualified 4th in GTC class and got the jump on Dave at the race start as he was held up by Prof (I think). From then Dave was glued to my backend for the next 1/2 hour and it was great fun trying to stave him off. Thanks for waiting for me Dave after my off - another reason I like to race here at SRouk.

Dave finally got past and the Prof, Dave, Mcfids train entered the Pits at the same time (as well as everyone it seemed). I was somewhat surprised to see Dave exit 20 seconds before me, which I'm guessing from your earlier post was due to the 997s frugile use of fuel. Myself and Prof, however, exited the pitlane side by side with Prof winning the game of chicken at T1.

After a few laps I managed to get past Prof on a good run going into T1, but he was hanging on my shirt tails for the remainder of the race. Btw Prof, what tyres did you go for? I went for mediums all round, which were the right choice I think; anymore laps and hard may have been the better choice.

Very good lapping from all concerned. It was absolutely manic at times as GTC battles got mixed up with GT1 battles:) Congrats to podiums.

With the rain holding off and the surprisingly warm ambient temps i felt i might not spend the entire race hot-lapping or digging myself out of the gravel. It actually ended up being quite a manic race with someone always nearby to push me along! Early on was a good scrap trying to hold off Terry then i managed to creep closer to the group ahead who see to be slowing each other up a bit and then tried to get past G_bob which was fun and we were running quite close at times and there wasnt any warping but it seemed to happen occasionally though as i remember once down the main straight you were warping a bit.
Managed to get some good drive up the final hill a few times but couldnt always make it stick.

Then managaed to work my way up to Blunder and had so close scraps with me starting to miss apexes as the tyres started to struggle and Blunder took it as an open invitation ;)

Nearly messed up my stopp as i ended up canceling/ enabling the stop several times during my final lap as it seems to be delayed from me pushing the button :( before, just getting it in finally. Came out with Bob infront by 5 secs and Blunder behind by about 9 secs eventually but the tyres felt completely different in the second half so was just happy to keep about there.

My return to GTR2 almost 2 years without running it, was.......dumb.  :P
Tbh, I still like it a lot.

Without any practice, I was happy for my quali session. Lets see how I behave with a GT car then...

Starting grid, good skins around, good sounds, nice 100 fps....look!...at the S/F stands are a couple
of friends of mine....let me wave to them as they are waving to me.... ::) ......no, it wasn't like this...
green lights, cars beginning to move...GT1s away, GTCs in front away, first gear...throttle....nothing!!  :o
what the...... :-X engage reverse and 1st and 2nd and neutral....nothing. :w00t: GTCs behind me went away......and I found myself pressing all the keybord. suddenly my brain began to work a bit better
and I pressed the engine start key...et voilá...it's alive, unfortunately 50 seconds behind the pack.  :whistling:
That's right, when I completed the pace lap, faster than you all - I admit - but I was alone...
my gap for the car in front was 40 seconds. I don't quit, I want to finish it. Porsche might hold
all race with the full tank I havd had. As for the tires we will see later...in fact, everything went
quite nice, I was shortning the gap, after 5 laps to 30 seconds now, but....on lap 8 the GT1's folks
began to, in their fast & furious pace, scaring me all the 18 of them, just when I was shortning the gap.  ;D
No need to say that I had lost all the time I gainned, making the GT1 passing manouvers easy.
Fuel was enough (finished race with fuel for only one more lap). Only had to changed all the tires.
Hats off for Picnic's race and his gentleman spirit, finishing race!

Well done to the winners, what an amazing pace!

Cheers

Replay and provisional results posted

LapChart (http://www.granum.plus.com/20091206%20U11/index.html)

Hi Pete

The lapchart link seems broken (404) is it just me?

Full marks for determination with that ill-handling Lotus last night - time to choose something new for sure.

Hats off for Picnic's race and his gentleman spirit, finishing race!

LOL - my team mates were amazed/shocked/disappointed I was taking the dreadful Exige for a 2nd race running. I'm hoping the Team Shark mechanics will have finished preparing the stead I'm meant to be driving for the next event ;) I never want to sit in that evil thing ever again.

at one point I was in an Aston sandwhich with one of them on the grass passing me. :o ::)
Er yeah my bad dude  :(, I wanted to come to your left but Legzy was there, We were having such a hard fight and I was just going too fast. If I had tried to slow down behind you it would have been a 3 car pile up I'm sure.
lol, that explains it. I couldn't understand how you possibly got past me there, I was using Dave as a shield to get a one corner breather before we started at it again. I got to the corner & you were already there! :o ???

What a great great race that was!
I was gutted for Lazlow in the position behind me on the grid, Bob was unfortunately warping all over the shop on the pace lap & bumped Lazlow off behind me. From that point, I drove right off the normal racing line to avoid suffering the same outcome :(. I'm guessing something went wrong for the pole sitter? As despite starting only 12th on the grid, I only seemed to do about 10 yards with the pit limiter on. This also caught Craske out (next car ahead of me on the grid) I think, as when we crossed the start line to go, he didn't release the pit limiter to go... I waited... & a little longer & I'm off! Zoomed down to T1 just ahead of him. From then I was scrapping non-stop with him, till we caught NSFast. We then created a mini-jam allowing Bob, Blunder & Spanner to get right back with us. After a few laps of that I managed to get a great run out the final bend to have overlap going into T1 & slip away from nsfast. It didn't take Craske too long to get past & start our battle again! We managed to swap places a good few times & I reckon there was possibly only one little paint rub the whole time.

I managed to have a good pitstop & eek out about a 9 sec advantage over Craske & seemed to leapfrog Teammate API with about 5 secs to spare. To start with both of them started chipping away at my lead, but as it settled down API was the one to watch. Having lost 3 seconds of my advantage in the 1st six laps, I was rather nervous about holding him off for ten laps with nothing to spare. But it's OK, my "teammate" will allow us to coast to the end... like hell he did! That final ten laps was like I was still trying to hold Craske off! :o Awesome drive API, us finishing just 2 tenths apart after 80mins 8) (you too Craske).

Well done to new team mate Jose on his first Oldie podium, may there be many more to follow ;D

Congrats to podiums & finishers, big thanks to all that let me lap them, sorry to a couple where I think I misread their intentions :-[. No harm done hopefully :-\.

Cheers
Legzy

p.s. I'm liking this new Shark system, trying to win the Team title with only one driver allowed to finish each race. It'll certainly keep it closer for longer  :punk: ;D

Not to forget, sorry to nsfast. Bit of a touch as i went to the inside into the second corner having got alongside down that straight. You seemed to keep going but then dropped right back behind 3 cars. sorry

Qualied mid pack of the GTCs and managed to get round the formation lap without incident this time ::)

Decided to carry full fuel and monitor my tyres to determine my stop. Start was a little rushed with hardly enough time to get on the limiter before flooring it. Managed to keep position and eeked out a comfortable gap to jpv and Matt behind. Dave, McFids and Prof had better pace than me, but I was hoping they were on lighter fuel and that I'd be able to claw back as things panned out. As it happened I made a couple of costly errors just before my stop, which put paid to any chances of a battle later on.

My stop went well, but by this time I was getting tired and found it hard to concentrate, which led to a couple of silly spins late on. Fortunately I was able to hang on to 5th in class which all considered, I was quite happy with.

Seemed like a better track for the class mix. I didn't feel the need to get out of the way of the GT1s so often as the cornering speeds were very close and there were lots of straights where they could power past.

Another blistering display by SBG keeping the Crawlers at the top of the GTC board 8) Hope jpv and I can continue to amass a few points towards the team pot.

Congrats to both podies and finishers.  :thumbup2:

Must colate my thoughts into one post!

Yeah, what did happen at the start? barely had chance to engage the limiter and it caught Bob out as Blunder drove straight past him!

Good to see fellow teamie PR join us, more than can be said for other members of the team ;) I'm spending far too much time with the Oldies on TS, brainwashing me ;D

Was not expecting to come anything but last at this one. The Viper is not a good car for me at this track
Waited for PR to get going as long as I could before the other GTCs were looking like they were about to pass me.

No worries TT. mostly if a GT1 looks like he is making a move to pass I give room wherever it is
though I do appreciate people not trying to barge through mid corner unexpectedly.
At some tracks I would have got a cut track for going that far inside the kerb, but I had nothing, so is cool.

I occasionally seem to be having trouble with my Graphics. I am begining to think it's temp related, though
It only ever happens in an online race, never in qual on line or off line. If I scared people by freeezing just over
the line on the final lap, sorry, I had a black screen with engine noise. I just slowed and hoped to have stopped.

No need to apologise Spanner. It was a fair move. :)

A poor race for me last night. I never got into any sort of grove and was off the pace consistently. I think the combination of a busy weekend and a heavy cold were to blame. That's my excuse anyway!

Congrats to the podium finishers and to Gsi Bob on a good top ten finish for Team Supersonic.

GT1's were very good although I did get a rather funny clattering from Jon, thought it might have been team tactics  ;)

Almost forgot :-[ Was totally to blame. For an instant I thought you were giving me a bit of room to go through but I just misread the situation . Apologies, I should've been more cautious and waited :-[

yet again i had another shocking time  :'(  internet connection was really good this time round but my race was not, started at an o.k pace then i just got slower and slower and just couldn't get back on pace  :(

then when i caught up with the gtc leaders it all went a bit pear shaped went a bit to fast into a corner had to do a bit of dodging then ended up in the tyre wall in flames :(

congrates to the winners  ;)

Then Jose must have had some issue with the car, tyres or fuel as I started to close quite rapidly.
No problem, just cruzin to the finish  :P
Oh and sorry to the BMW driver I hit just after H@L had spun  :-[
Team Oldie Racing go 2nd in the championship

Well done Jose!! Your the man!  :D

Best race for a long time...
Trying to think why but....
Have now got 550 setup's from an 'Alien' - load and go! for all the main circuits!
I have limited time and hate being slow just cos I can't set up a car! I try!  ;)

Makes a big difference to me mentally as I then know I have no excuses for being slow!  ;D
Was just about on pace and was following Legzy's 3 way scrap for ages, very close racing, great fun.
Pit stop must have been slower than others as I lost a couple of places.
Then had a great scrap with nsfast for the last half of the race.
Did get past you in the first half of the race Richard but it was tough the second time!  :D
We swapped position a few times, Great fun, was sorry to see you dissappear!  :(

Finishing 11th after a few good scraps, ticks all my boxes as it feels like that is a reflection of my talent! ( or lack of it! )

Thanks all

M.

So you're not denying team orders?  ;) Seriously, no worries.
