Round 2 of the Formula 2 Trophy will take place in Spain at the Circuito del Jarama in Madrid. Jarama was built in 1967 & has hosted nine Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. Inadvertent downshift in last corner put the wall in range to remove a wheel lap 10-ish. Bah. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Samb on June 12, 2016, 10:17:21 PM +0100 Get well soon Rob :).
I'm gutted. That was my race to lose and I lost it.....with 6 laps to go. Good luck to those still running, cracking battle all race Peter :). You were steady as a rock Sam, great fun racing you all the way! and sorry for my "ambitious" overtake, reckon'd it'd be my only shot ;-) Guess I was so desperate to try and get a gap afterwards that I made my turn-in at the 100-sign instead of the 50-sign at T-last.. lucky it didn't come off worse than it did ::)
Sad not to see more racers on the grid, but love having Sam and Greg around for some close racing ;-) Ps. Yes! First win in UKGPL ;D although clearly the result of some very big absentees ::) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Turkey Machine on June 12, 2016, 10:40:19 PM +0100 Temporary replay link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/rc61in

Great to see ol' bud, Jonny0, score a fine P2. Well done, amigo. Holy Smokes! A fluke P3 pour moi! I would never have predicted that result as Jarama and I just aren't a fit. This track requires far too much of the pitch-n-catch style that is really not my cup of tea. Thanks(?)to the misfortunes of so many others is the only reason for my totally unexpected result. I feel for Sam in having a real shot at a splendid win just slip away from but one error. Justice denied. In the early laps, I had Ray nipping at my heels and then Clive in recovery from a brief off. Swell. Two hard chargin' tigers on my tail with miles to go before I could sleep. It was going to be a long, hard race and thoughts of Gilles in the 1981 Spanish GP came to mind. Could I hold out as he did? Hardly in his league but I did luck out with both Clive and Ray having further offs to give me some breathing space and get the Cooper home without major dramas. My luck can't hold, can it? Riverside next... |
