I can see and connect to the okay, but at the moment in the server list it says the server is running Hockenheim, but when I connect, I get Donington. Then about 30 seconds later the track reloads Donington again and it just seems to do that in a loop.
Odd. No one else seeing that?
Anyhow, thanks for sorting this Tony/Picnic.
Cheers, Ross

Hmm that is odd. Let me do some checks and report back.
EDIT: I can confirm that our server is only running Hockenhein 1999. I also fired up GTL and only saw Hockenheim1999. Which makes me wonder if you have the correct track installed?

The affiity setting doesnt turn a program into using more than one core, it allows windows to decide which core to actually run it on as by default it will set programs to run on one of the cores. It can help to spread the load across the cores so that your not loading one core too much which can affect the stability of the program as these tend to want to use the core 100%

Doesnt seem to work for me I put the IP address in but it doesnt find any server. Running XP Now progressed to input IP address, asks for login, sits for a few mins at please wait then tells me i cant connect to server. Does it matter if my pc doesnt have a default ip but a manual one? Do i need to setup the router to allow the traffic?

Have you tried deleting/renaming your hosts file?

When you start up it seems to over write the file anyway as it gets an address from a file in the GTL directory. The host file only contains the 127.0.0.1 address anyway. I did try sticking www.gtl-server.net in there which didnt seem to do much. Anyway, that website doesnt exist, gtl-server.net

Does this installer overwrite your hosts file then?

Is this still active on the server? For the last couple of days, the software has been running fine except that it keeps reporting 'No Games Available' when I add the IP address of the server.

Yes it was working at 8am this morning. I managed to connect to the server and took the Capri for a quick spin around Hock.

The patch runs a Ruby script which backs up your old hosts file and then edits the file to add a dummy entry for the gtl lobby pointing to localhost (127.0.0.1) The script restores the old file at the end.

Anyway, that website doesnt exist, gtl-server.net That's the point. gtl-server.net was the Simbin provided lobby (which went down in the past because they failed to renew a domain name) and since it doesn't work anymore, the hosts file points it to your own machine (127.0.0.1) where it provides a 'replacement lobby' of sorts.

I might try to explode setup my PC this evening after the P&G race. Wish me luck. Btw, do I have to mess with the "DOS" ? If I do, I will pass...
