Title: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Feb 13 Post by: Cookie on February 12, 2018, 05:05:35 PM +0000 Season 32 Sports Car Trophy – Round 9 - Bathurst
For the 8th round of the Sport Car Trophy we go to Mount Panorama, Motor Racing Circuit Bathurst (also known as Wahluu by the Wiradjuri people, or often simply Bathurst) is a motor racing track located in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is best known as the home of the Bathurst 12 Hour motor race, held each February, and the Bathurst 1000 motor race, held each October. The track is 6.213 km (4 mi) long, and is technically a street circuit, as the circuit is a public road when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit. The track is an unusual design by modern standards, with a 174-metre (570-foot) vertical difference between its highest and lowest points, and grades as steep as 1:6.13. From the start-finish line, the track can be viewed in three sections; the short pit straight and then a tight left turn into the long, steep Mountain straight; the tight, narrow section across the top of the mountain itself; and then the long, downhill section of Conrod Straight, and the turn back onto pit straight to complete the lap.
Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=619&theme=6) Only reported incidents will be moderated, there is no Red Zone. Handicapping and chassis allocation. This season the Sports Car Trophy will be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=619&theme=6). Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens. The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total). Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement. See below. Available Tokens: Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.
GLA and FUN Title: Re: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Feb 13 Post by: Doni Yourth on February 13, 2018, 12:44:10 PM +0000 Paying the price for cavorting through the snow yesterday. While shoveling out, I jumped into a snowbank and while nothing immediately surfaced, it later became abundantly apparent that I twisted/compressed/extended/jammed/otherwise F'd Up the knee of my right leg. I can walk and negotiate stairs quite well but taking a seat or rising from is hellish. I don't think that it's severe enough for me to miss the round but certainly, I'll be the 'walking wounded'.
68 going on 12. :) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Feb 13 Post by: FullMetalGasket on February 13, 2018, 05:12:28 PM +0000 Look on the bright side Doni - At least you get snow to play in :(

For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement). The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error. There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Only then I braked too late at the final turn, clouted the barrier and managed to lose a wheel (don't think I've done this before in the sports cars ::)). Decided to call it a day after that.
See you all at the finale :). but I am not responsible for your not reading here, so imo you were warned by the last race to not change car in Quali, maybe David can explain better in your own language. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Feb 13 Post by: FullMetalGasket on February 15, 2018, 12:41:01 PM +0000 You know what Axel? I think we may have fallen foul of being so used to that rule, that it wasn't actually written down for this series - I've just had a look through the various relevant threads and pages and switching cars in qually isn't expressly forbidden, unless I've missed a page somewhere.
As for the race I'm chuffed with a win - I'd plumped for the Lola as a best of both worlds type of car. It's relatively nimble while still being fast and having a decent number of gears. It's only downside is how fragile the engine is... It rapidly became clear in the race how Tris had out qualified me by so much - I was driving to limits I'd learnt about the hard way regarding revs in the Lola. Tris was driving his car as though it was a Ferrari or Porsche :D The race turned into a simple Tortoise Vs Hare race from then on. With Tris flinging himself around the track as as fast as he could go (with the odd off to prove it) while I went as fast as I dared to push the motor. About 3 or 4 laps from the end Tristan's engine finally gave up the ghost (In full sim difficulty I'd have given it about 3 laps total before imploding at that pace ;D) and I comfortably cruised past him. As no-one was close to the 2 of us I was able to carry on without really pushing until the line. It's a shame Axel crashed out on the first lap - I'm not entirely sure what caused that as the mirrors are so poor in these - but it could have made the race a bit more exciting with a 3 way fight to the end. Well done to all finishers, Bathurst is always hard Title: Re: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Feb 13 Post by: bagrupp on February 15, 2018, 02:27:04 PM +0000 Well if you have not driven a timed lap it's ok, isn't it ?

The rule was always that if you don't do a lap in the wrong car you can exit and rejoin in a different car without penally. This was to stop people switching car halfway through practice because it turns out everyone else chose a better car! Title: Re: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Feb 13 Post by: Cookie on February 15, 2018, 06:16:47 PM +0000 Argh, :o
yes it is forbidden to switch cars in quali but the penalties are more lenient... I did research in the depth of UKGPL rules and found: https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/contravene_online Quote Simple Car Changing: Penalty 2 Places. Setting times in 2 different chassis. So, for me this was surprising and I will restore the results of the last 2 races where Tris switched cars... PS Tris did 2 x shift+r so he gets a DQ anyway... |
