Season 25 Privateers Trophy, Round 9 Riverside
Apologies for the late post - it is (literally) being done from my sick bed on a laptop!

Welcome to the penultimate round of the Privateers Trophy for the 67 classics. We cross the 'pond' to the United States and the dusty climes of 'the Golden State'.

The Riverside track in  California was in operation from September 22, 1957, to July 2, 1989. The original course design proved to be dangerous, and it was partially reconfigured in 1969. The track was built to accommodate several different configurations, depending on the type of car and race length. The three options on Riverside Raceway were the long course, the short course and a NASCAR course. When the track was redesigned in 1969, Turn 9 was reconfigured with a wider radius and a dogleg approach added to reduce strain on the cars' brakes.

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=402&theme=6)

A maximum of ONE reset is allowed per race & must be followed by a compulsory Stop & Go in the pit lane within two laps of the Reset. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to the beginning of the long back straight. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=402&theme=6) standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

I am sorry I ended your race Fabio!

Wasn't feeling at all well and it was touch and go whether I would make it. Glad I did.

Interesting race though. Couldn't find my setup so cobbled one together but I wasn't certain of it. Sure I have done a 1:45 but couldn't get anywhere near that. Started cautiously and thought everyone had got through but suddenly half the pack exploded. That put me up to sixth and I soon caught Andreas and Phillipe but had a curious spin at the hairpin. Set about chasing them down but span again at the same place. Clearly needed to be softer. Phillipe then lost an engine or something and that put me up another place and then the unfortunate Cookie disconnected. Up to fourth! Bill and Fabio were closing me down when I saw a green flag. As Andreas was half a mile ahead I thought it must be behind and sure enough Bill disappeared.

Thought to myself that I just needed to stay smooth and I could keep Fabio behind even if he caught me. Fatal. Overdid the speed into the esses and span. Sat there trying to find a gear when I exploded. Fabio must have hit me. I reset and drove off. Was it Fabio's second? Not sure but suddenly there were only five of us. After that it was pretty lonely until I hit the polos again and had to wait in the dunes for Dave and Andreas. After that a few spins until I pulled myself together to hold Mike off.

Much better than I thought and as best of the non-Fezzas I'll take it. Feel like I am beginning to 'feel' these cars now even though I am slow. About time!

Now, bed and lemsip!

PS Thought Hendy was different class - and next season he will be! ;)

Good job staying in the race :) Looks like it paid off.

May be the first race I've done in the ferrari. It's a fun car though a little jumpy.

Was disappointed to see Cookie out so soon, made for a lonely race.

Hope you start feeling better, blood. See you all next time

This time it´s on me, Billy: Sorry for hitting you.  :(
After a bad start I was surprised of an early braking of you...(in my opinion).
No excuse, surely my fault. Sorry again, mate!

Seems there was a bit of Red Bull team spirit at Black Night Racing tonight - I was on the receiving end of two rear end shunts. I may have braked a bit earlier than Andreas was expecting into turn 1 (or turn 2?). Reset + Stop & Go  - by lap 11 I was chasing Paul with Fabio hard on my tail - was shaping up to be a good race & shame it ended.
No hard feelings guys - will see you at the next race.
Awesome time at the front by Hendy - I was quite pleased with a 1.45.

Mine was not the outcome I'd hoped for, though my short race was no disgrace.

Practice was spent getting an Eagle hooked up, but it didn't stay that way for long!  Managed to claw the lead spot at the first bend, and then fend off a swooping Cookie for half a lap, before coming unhooked from the Server.  "Grumble!"  >:(

A Wi-fi hookup isn't the preferred choice, online. For this race, I decided to retry the landline extender, which has usually disco'ed me previously.  This time, it waited through practice for lap 1, to finish my race.  So, I've no choice, but to continue to Wi-fi it.  ATM, landline means a relocate, or dislocate.  Did I grumble already?
