Stardust has never been my favorite, but quite liked the track in yesterday's races.
Race 1:Didn't want to use the Pontiac again, so went with the Chevelle as the next best option. Wondering whether the Impala is broken - is it really supposed to handle so atrociously bad ?
Purely by chance I for once got a good start, and Dan got a bad one, no less
And what happens ? Matt bogs down in front of me, so I had to come right off the gas again, letting Dan get away - you just can't win..
Slipped past Matt & Clive in the confusion through the first couple of corners, and then Dan on L2, when he went off at the hairpin. Matt not far behind, and very much doubted I would be able to keep him behind, as he was clearly quicker in qual. After 6 laps he disappeared however, presumably to serve a S/G. Replaced by Clive, but he went off on the same lap, hitting the titanium fence, possibly damaging the car; I didn't see him again after that, and the rest of the race was a lonely affair.
Do wonder about the results posted by Kurt - they claim I passed Matt & Dan on L2, when in reality, I passed Matt on L1, & Dan on L2 - they even show Matt overtaking Geoffers and being in 2nd, which never happened, at least not according to my replay. I got a cut warning on L1, and results shows Matt got warnings on L1 & L2. Wonder if the Autosim analyzer doesn't work properly, if laptimes aren't recorded as counting ?
Race 2:Just don't have time to test all these car/track combos, so stayed with the Firebird, which was the first (and only one ) I tried, when I found it to be quite nice. Clive was napping at the start, so I nicked his place. Later on L1, he reclaimed it. Got the impression in qual that my car was quicker in a straight line, so scratching my head when he pulled past down the semi-straight. Gained a place when Dan's Shelby suddenly was flipping through the air, and continued to chase Clive. Got past when he went off after a number of laps. Kept me on my toes for most of the remainder of the race - any slacking and the gap dropped.
Grats to Ziu on two wins and Geoffers on the two seconds.
