Gents, I am pleased to announce Round 1 of the New BPR GT sprint racing series based loosely on the popular GT championship of the 90's. This thread is a placeholder/announcement to make all aware of Round 1 and give time for practise. I will ask uncle Dave to set me up a proper championship.

I'm happy with either but the Old would then be 'right' for the cars

I hadn't realised the moto circuit was the old layout. I personally think they ruined the last sector with those silly downhill chicanes so happy to use Moto as the final corner was always quite epic. Consider it done

For those that may not have them already, heres a link to my dropbox for a set of tasty skins for the McLaren GTR. I think the credit goes to ChrisR who may have provided them originally. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bwuje1c172ompaj/Mclaren%20F1-GTR%20skins.rar?dl=0Just had my first proper practise session on the server. Got down to the low 1:50's with a 1:50.2 my PB so far with 30L fuel onboard and med tyres. Only used the default setup so far with a few tweaks. Like all GT cars on slicks, its a bit of a handful on lap1 until you get some heat in the tyres so go easy for the first couple of laps and work into the pace. I started the sesh on 1:54s and ended on a 1:50.2 so good to see an improvement.

I will share my setup.. Its really stable and fun to drive.
You just have to drive it with a mindset of smooth entry and exit, you cant get away with being rough with it.

Huh?! Its an awesome race car, what's not to like? If I can race it I'm pretty sure a man of your talents can Jeff! Re setups, thanks for the offer Chris. :)I was going to ask guys like yourself or Ed to offer up any tips to help tame these 90's wildcats for us mortal drivers. Some target lap times would be useful too though I don't want to scare anyone off too!

They feel like wannabe racecars to me. I either like cars from the good old GTL days, the yank tanks, or proper race cars. These things are frustrating, they want to be racecars, but because they are quite primitive, they can't. The handle is just...I don't know, not my thing.

Qualifying trim and on softs will give me possibly a high 1:47 if I manage a perfect lap - Softs will not be an option in the race though as they overheat too fast. I think my current setup using mediums is something in the region of mid to high 1:48's turning into consistent 1:49's out of traffic, can't comment on whether they'll go the distance but temp-wise they stay on the acceptable side of hot if you aren't too rough. Going to have a play with Hard compound tires tonight hopefully

Nice time FMG, I've not tried softs or low fuel runs yet. I was also wondering if meds would last the race. Think they will as long as you don't scrub them too much with spins or slides. Posted this before but never tire of seeing it, sets the mood for these cars perfectly http://youtu.be/W0Xg9_79UaY
