For once I didn't have a freeze or disco in P1/Q2. Qualified 4th, finished 4th. Race was ok, had a scrap with Lazlow at first. We had some close laps and we touched twice (pm sent). Then with Shark 'till the end of time.
Not much to be said, one of the peaks of my racing here. Only bantering with MJ comes close.
After the last two races there a few things to be said. I held back after Anderstorp, waiting for any response from the staff, but...
Guys, when you're about to be lapped, let off the throttle, don't race the driver 1 lap in front. Please don't take this as flaming or shaking fingers or tripple axel.
Some are relatively new here so this is just a friendly tap on the shoulder. Even if you race the guy next to you, who is also a lap behind: I know you're racing and my heart bleeds for you, but move away, ease off the throttle. Especially in the same class racing a car lapping you doesn't have any more power than yours, so he can't overtake on power and if you're on racing line at corner entry/exit he can't pass there either.
Yesterday we and Shark were close racing for at least half of the race, we were inside 1 sec difference the whole time, changing places and the guy behind always putting a pressure on. Some laps to go and we encountered two drivers a lap behind. One eased off, one didn't (fair?). Shark had to use the line outside the track to get by, getting a warning for cutting the track. I couldn't get by for at least another kilometer and by the time I did I was 2,5 seconds behind Shark. Race ended there, efectively. Apart from directly influencing podium outcome, how was that fair to the driver also 1 lap behind who eased off?
It was done similarly, though more excessively, at Anderstorp.
Again, I'd like this to be an example of how things
don't go here. If you're a lap down, racing another guy is not a valid excuse to block a car lapping you. Saying that, punting away drivers that don't let you pass is also not valid.
Make a report and the moderator will do his appointed job.
I hope this can be treated as direction for general behaviour. After all, this is supposed to be a friendly competition. I welcome the new guys, it's always good to have new faces, new drivers and new challenges.
Bad luck to JPS and MJ for their ISP problems.
Reading MJ's report I must admire how well the cars are ballanced (well done Pseudododo and his crew
). Apart from Panoz, of course.
Grats to podium, well done Lazlow and Shark, this is the stuff I come here for.
TT
P.S. Get away from that iRetching hotlaping, Simon. This is where the
racing is done.
