I have fixed a button to my wheel to blink back from time to time. LOL - I didn't realise you get lapped that often TT?! You'll be happy to hear, I've never had a problem lapping you TT

I do, though mostly by higher class cars. That's why I drive GT1 this season. TT

A quick hello and sincere apologies for some shocking driving on my return to the hotseat - just terrible throughout qually and the race...no idea what was going on but like any good racing driver it obviously wasn't my fault. I'm blaming the hardware/ setup/ tyres/ what I had for lunch. Great to finally see you on track Ross, damn good debut - whatever he says about being a noob don't listen, this is a man with F1 experience - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjlshgT8yMGot to take the blame for the lack of briefing - was too busy trying to keep mine pointing in the right direction to mention the minor detail of being able to look backwards during races!

Finally managed a decent lap in qually ending up only about 4'100s away from MJ. Had a steafy first half to the race with MJ gone i was left to shadow Prof until Carl recovered from his off and got by. But unfortuneatly I got caught behind someone a lap down who I felt didnt seem to want to let me by and ended up dropping down to around 14th. If it wasn't for the Legzy/ Evert/ Blunder debacle I wouldnt have managed to get back up into the top 10. I owe you lot a pint I would like to also echo TT's comments/ advice about letting the faster guys through at times. There are plenty of places where you can just move over and lift off slightly or brake early but please try and communicate this by flashing your lights early. I'm sorry about hitting you through that chicane Smokey but it would have been nice if it could have been avoided. I'll admit i'm not used to lapping people so possible could have done things differently but Its not easy in cars with the similiar performance to get by.

Did you race elsewhere before, Ross? Started early on Dave Gymer's original incarnation of LFRS (a looong time ago - '94/'95 perhaps?), but mainly raced with GP Legends on VROC a while back. Apart from that I've recently been racing GTL on the Altbierbude servers. Don't get a huge amount of time to do it to be honest, but as I no longer do trackdays in my Atom, I figured I can justify some extra time on sim racing so built a new rig for it over Christmas. Cheers, Ross.

No worries Prof, I am still getting use to the cars, Sorry if I got in the way!! that goes to any one else If I got in their way too. It nice to be part of a driving game where people ar'nt going out wrecking. Seem to be making some progress with my driving now so hopfully won't be a back marker for long. This was the first actual race that I finished so thats a start if nothing else.
Regards Jon
(Apologies to JohnB1970 for the tap when trying to lap you. I mis-read your intentions and tried to pass you off the racing line just as you moved over to make space. I am not used to lapping people but have much more experience being lapped. Sorry if I spoiled your race.)

Had a quick look back at the replay last night and I definitely owe an apology to Gazza49er, Busi, Simon Gymer and Truetom for holding you up while lapping me longer than I should have done. Sorry! I'll do better next time.
Cheers, Ross.

You know, I'd completely forgotten I was involved in the running of LFRS. I wonder what 'Uncle' Steve Wilson is up to these days?

You know, I'd completely forgotten I was involved in the running of LFRS. I wonder what 'Uncle' Steve Wilson is up to these days? To be honest, I think I only raced in a couple of races (I think it was with Crammond's original Grand Prix on the PC), but I was doing a PhD at the time and really just learning about the Internet. I set up a little HTTP server and email list in the office and hosted the 'skins' for the various teams that were running, but as my connection was DHCP, I had to keep republishing the host IP! Eventually I think Manchester Poly's IT team picked on the traffic and shut me down. Shortly after that I went to work at a new start up called Zen Internet and am still a Director there now. God I feel old.... Anyhow, it's great to see that you're still so involved in the sim racing scene after all these years! Cheers, Ross.

That Atom looks great fun Ross ! How does it compare to that latest KTM Crossbow? Saw it at the MCN bike show recently...very nice. To the newer guys, i wouldnt get too paranoid about holding up the quicker drivers, we all started the same way. A quick flash of the headlights helps big time to let us know youve seen us and we can pass without fear of a collision in the brake zone etc. Likewise the front runners may flash you once to let you know they are coming up to lap you. We're all clean racing gents around here for the most part ...but we still like to win !

That Atom looks great fun Ross ! How does it compare to that latest KTM Crossbow? Saw it at the MCN bike show recently...very nice. The Atom is a fantastic car - and they hardly depreciate! Fantastic fun on track and road. I had my name down for a X-bow as well, but it's price went stupid once they actually got it built. From what I gather the X-Bow is a great piece of kit and probably very quick. I suspect it will hold much more cornerspeed than an Atom ever will but I doubt it will be as much fun doing it. The big problem with the X-Bow is simply it's price - you're looking at over £80k for a road-spec one whereas a top-spec Atom will be about £45k. Also if you prang the X-Bow you could be looking at a very very expensive bill for a replacement carbon fibre tub. Cheers, Ross.
