Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 1164s

Geoffers misses his braking point and rear ends Tinman hard, sending them both off. Geoffers was trying to overtake Ade, but hit the car infront which was Tinman.
Incident with big consequences, as Tinman's car was damaged in the early stages.

Server replay time: 1389s

I didn't see anything at the reported 1359, but I think the incident mentioned was at 1389.

Matt loses a bit more speed than normal in the Porsche curves. This slower speed surprises Edamspeed and he hits Matt at the rear. Edamspeed couldn't help that as he was very close. Geoffers was also following very close and due to the contact between Edamspeed and Matt, the car of Edamspeed slowed drastically, leaving Geoffers no place to go and he hits Edamspeed at the back.
Nothing all drivers involved could do.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1981s

Matt says he was wobbly in the Porsche curves and Geoffers has more momentum and takes a tighter inside line. When he is on the inside Matt closes the room and the cars rub doors. There was hardly any room and on overtake attempts like that would not be adviced for the future. Due to the door rubbing, Matt's car spins and Geoffers wait.
If this was clearly an overambitious overtake attempt, it would have been given a penalty. It's however unclear what the real problem was here.

Yes the Pantera may be one of the easiest (relatively) to get a time under 4.30 Mark, but trying to get the last few seconds really makes you work!
Believe me!  Cheesy

When I tried it I couldn't quite break 4:30 even, Pantera scares the carp out of me as you brake down from these super-high speeds, feels so unstable and desperate to spin.  So pushing for the last second or two, no way.  Strangely the Corvette feels much better on the brakes.  Just not on the steering.  Tongue

Er, just had a thought. Qualy is 10 mins long for this race, which is enough for an out lap & one timed lap. Would it be worth increasing it just for this race enough to squeeze in a 2nd timed lap?  Undecided

One lap's enough surely, not like overtaking is difficult here.  Do we really care about grid order?  Gonna be a long enough night of driving anyway......

I don't as I'll always be near the back of the grid, it was more the front runners I was thinking of.

Exactly and effectively its a one lap shoot out. Exciting stuff.

With that in mind, we all must be on our best quali behaviour. Letting people pass on your outlap etc. Smiley

Could cars starting their hotlap turn their headlamps on?

When you put it like that it sounds so cool!

Could cars starting their hotlap turn their headlamps on?

That's an idea.  Another solution is for everyone to aim to leave the pits in the first 3 minutes or so - barring offs the first people on hotlaps won't encounter any outlapping people that way.

Might mix the grid up a bit, make a mistake & you are going to be further down the grid than you normally would be!

It's all irrelevant. I'll be mixing the grid up on my own as soon as I lose control of the V8 at the start line.

Corvette is excellent on the brakes I agree, nice and stable. A shame it is compromised slightly in the twisties, but the Pantera does like to try and spit you off at every opportunity, it even twitches on that rise before the 90 right at the end of Mulsanne, scary! Shocked

Okay,
that was a short and frustrating race for me.
Got a decent start and gained some places to get to 15th place .
I knew i couldn't hold my position with me driving the BMW, lack of topspeed and even less driver capabilities.

Then in the 2nd lap had a spin after the long straight and going into the first of the 2 chicanes. Only had a little kiss with the wall and my engine died  :'(

So, season over.  Grats to all that survived the race and thanks for a great season.

See you all next year.

Well I am getting better in 76'ers this season but I'm still not great Smiley Truly awful race from me, about all I could manage was too stay on track and I didn't do that very well at times. Thx for realising the grief I was having Oily and not tagging me (must have put the woolies up ya I bet Smiley) . To top it all I had a s/g penalty on last lap avoiding Oily and even though I pitted my 3rd is gone I spose.

Not sure who won outta PR and Matt but either way deserving champs both. Congrats Smiley Team champs must be interesting as well.

Seems the right time to thank Pseudo for all his help, encouragement and mickey taking throughout this season. Thx muchly mate. Thx to all of you gents for the fantastic turnout and racing all season long. I've enjoyed this season more than any other thx to you gents. Finally thx to Piccers for his great work behind the scenes and Dave for giving us the chance to give something back. Don't think I've missed anyone laugh

Noooooo !!!...i ran out of fuel on lap 14 of 17 whilst 4th in the underpowered Porka  :'(  literally coasted up the pitlane entrance and only made it half way up the incline.....gutted !

I thought i had done a sterling job considering the power disadvantage to every other car on the grid but the sodding fuel guage flashed up red as soon as i crossed the s/f line and i knew i was in trouble to make a whole lap once that came on (it had showed just under quarter of a tank before the s/f line...bloody fuel gauge !).
I coasted onto the verge and had to painfully watch the last two laps as the entire grid, even those +2laps behind me stormed past  hang ...the true fate of many a Le Mans endurance racer !

Had an absolute blast, thought the whole grid looked superb as it blasted off the line and all very clean from my 7th place spot into the dunlop curves despite looking like 4 cars abreast heading into them  Shocked
The race was brilliant, frustrating watching powerful cars get past but loved every minute of it. Had a few annoying spins usually when having to take a corner on the wrong line due to other traffic but otherwise the 911 was a joy to drive here. Got a great race PB of 4:35.2 too  Cool

Big congratulations to Pribeiro on a stunning win and also congrats to the other podium guys and all finishers.

Simply awesome  thumbup1
