Unfortunately I am away for the final round  :'( so have fun and keep it clean.

Note I set the race to 24 laps but keep an eye on live tracker and adjust if necessary.

Tricky but fun combo. Relatively soft setup bottoms out over the undulations but stiffening it up reduces the grip. So far my VIR setup is working well here.

Looks like the Porsche DLC will be available on tuesday, so am guessing a game update to go with it?

Yep, new update this afternoon. Not expecting anything major that'll effect this race.

There are a couple of minor things though;

- New camber grip variation formula - from what I can gather this is related to how positive camber works, shouldn't really be noticeable.
- Added session time/laps on the top of the screen (laps are the leader ones) - just a nice subtle lap counter at the top, looks clean and tidy
- Now race is over when the car complete its lap and the leader has finished his last one
- Added new F9 vertical layouts - much nicer than the horizontal one IMO
 Added multiplayer splits - Can't beleive its been so long without this
- Added Time Table leaderboard mode: this includes realtime splits and delta
- Improved laptimes board by adding splits and tyre compound
- Delta App reviewed - No idea whats been changed, I love this app so I hope its good
- Tyre blister and grain are now tied to the "Wear" settings and not "Damage". Wear=0 will turn off graining and blistering simulation - I know we have damage turned down a bit, so expect tyre graining to be more prominent in the race.

Also there a loads of sound/audio stuff which goes over my head, but this one sounds really awesome to me:

- Reworked wind curves: now the wind volume is related to the air pressure (i.e. player car will hear turbulence when in draft and AP value goes below 1.00)

Need to get practising for tomorrow, as I haven't touched Zandvoort in a long time. Hoping to not drop down the championship leaderboard too much, though with Mark not joining us it gives me a better chance.

I'm looking forward to the update aswell. Guess I'll have to get some laps in tonight, see if there's any noticable changes.

I hope we get more mechanical sounds and stuff in the cockpit view. Never liked the fact you can only hear the engine and the exaggerated tyre squealing.

Finally

I'll try and get server update late afternoon / early evening.

I hope we get more mechanical sounds and stuff in the cockpit view. Never liked the fact you can only hear the engine and the exaggerated tyre squealing.

I think we'll still be missing any sort of realistic tranmission wobble noise, which IMO will be huge if we ever get it. I think its quite tricky to implement, and requires a lot of physics changes.

Also in case you didn't know, there are not only options to reduce tyre noises etc, but also how soon the tyres squeal in terms of slip. I think it's called 'Tyre Skid Entry Point', its a lot better when you turn it down (imo).

Here are some of the sound stuff, kinda goes over my head so I didn't include them earlier:

- General audio engine code cleaning and bug fixing
- Fixed listener priority for cars in pits. They don't steal the priority anymore
- Amount of events instances are now properly limited in order to keep proper volume range and overall performance improvement
- Overall volume balance
- 7.1 surround should now work as expected (on all platforms)
- Fixed audio initialization pop when the session starts
- Stereo imaging now works as expected
- Fixed ambience sound affected by reverb zones
- Reworked reverb logic: when triggered onboard, the reverb is given by the exterior engine
- Reworked distance attenuations for enhanced experience (e.g. engine_int raised to 350 meters)
- Reworked wind curves: now the wind volume is related to the air pressure (i.e. player car will hear turbulence when in draft and AP value goes below 1.00)
- Reworked surfaces audio curves
- Reworked skids logic
- Fixed skids positional sound
- New exterior skids sound
- Set tyre skid entry point to 100 in audio.ini (set what you prefer in the audio options)
- Tweaked wind and limiter sound emitter position in dashboard camera
- Audio compressor on engine_ext event now works as expected when many cars are involved
- Surfaces, crashes and skids are now properly audible in chase and track cameras
- Opponents volume now honours F1 cameras. For track/free cameras it is set to max (optimum for replays, broadcasting etc.)
- Fixed transmission smooth and pitch for multiplayer opponents
- Engine volume setting is now related to the player/focused car
- When driving, some opponents events are now audible (e.g. skids, surfaces and gear shifts if available)
- Fixed multiplayer opponent surfaces sound when it leaves instantly (e.g acs process kill/crash) while driving on sand/kerb/etc...
- New dirt sound effects
- New brake squeal for some "old" cars
- Added audio fade when track camera changes
- Slightly modified gear grind sound
- Fixed wrong listener position for track and car cameras in some situations

I don't tend to run the time info/ leaderboards on screen and rely on other apps, will need ot try out the F9 info. None of the apps I use display time gaps properly in a race. I also rely on the delta app so much I have no idea on the actual sectors.

Theres always been a lap counter!

I'm planning on trying out the porsches tonight! Looking through car listing for the packs on steam does look nice. Hope we can fit in some single make races using some of these. Tho if the Ruf was anything to go by they are not going to be easy/ fun!

Whilst I will spend a lot of time experiencing the older, wilder, classic Porsche's - I'm going to be the sole person who is looking forward to the barge that is the Panamera  :laugh:

I'd never have one IRL, but there just something funny about driving lumps of lard in sims  ;D Same with the Maserati Levante we had, and the upcoming Porsche SUVs. And thats why I made the Transit for AC, its just hilarious!

I agree, the M4 with street tyres is also lots of fun and don't forget the trucks ;D

Not sure whether to pick mediums for the race or not. Softs are overheating but not sure they are wearing badly as a result. Mediums dont seem that slow in lap time but do feel less grippy even if that doesn't necessarily translate to much slower times. Hmm.

GT4 Cayman is fun against the AI on Hard/Alien. It's an easy car to drive, but great for closing racing.

Had a quick run with on Muguello, but was about 3 seconds slower then the Maserati. And it comes with ABS and TC unfortanely  8)  ( still almost impossible to spin with TC off )

So alot easier, but slower.

I like the way it handles, just has a lovely balance. Shame it has lots of electronic aids cause it makes it VERY hard to spin. You can still push too hard and go off, but it's not a challenge to drive, but that means it will give close racing.

It had nothing you needed to work around, it was the most benign car I've driven, but still fun. Could you ballast up the masarati to slow it down?

Shame it isn't competitive with the other GT4. Looks like another DLC with good cars which don't fit on a grid with the things we already have. The 935 look fun, but with the DRM being made it doesn't really feel necessary to buy it.

The 918 hypercar is another silly hypercar. Horrible to drive, far too fast in a straight and brakes like it has sponges for brakes (probably cause it's going silly quick). I hate all the hypercars.

Post by: Maikel K. on October 26, 2016, 11:41:39 AM +0100
Tried the 918 aswell. Just like Simon said its terrible. Terrible brakes, going into corners you get understeer, oversteer, every kind of steering but the right one. The P1 and laferrari are alot better to drive though.

Still looking forward to the LMP cars. And testing the GT3 cars with v10 tyres.

On a side note; the Ferrari feels a little slower to drive after the update. Not as easy to throw around in the corners. Tested it last week and got an 1;38;3 quite easily. Last night I had to tune my setup and was jut barely to get into the 38's with a little luck.
Could be just me though  8)

According to someone on the official forum the McLaren 650s GT3 also got a aero break which makes the car a bit slower.

btw: I'm sorry, but I'm away for today's race. Have fun ;)

Is there a wizz kid here which can confirm this with numbers :)? I have no idea how to get the stats Gary brought up few months ago.

Somethings i noticed, the sound reset to 100% but now also sounds a little different! when joining the server briefly last night I found the cars FFB level had reduced to around 50%

Plus what looks like just a font change to the delta time app somehow makes it harder to read. Find the session time at the top of the screen distracting, when it was already available under a default app.

So there are changes that arnt mentioned in the official release notes? nice.

Aaargh! I haven't had any practice at all! Had Jury Duty all week (still not done). Just about to start, expecting to be much slower than usual. Should be intersting to see how I fare, will be fun though.

I'll check aero levels again sometime later, bit busy just now. Haven't even touched any of the new cars yet  :o

Fun race, I had no pace but by staying out of trouble I managed to make up some places. Had two fun wee battles too :D

Mark was obviously much faster than me but I managed to keep him behind for a few laps which was a lot of fun. (Reckon you're aero was damaged, as I almost got you again on the following straight! - but I wouldn't have passed you even if I could have). You then went about passing Steven (Stephen, not sure, sorry) and he ended up on the gravel - to which I said thank you very much and passed gleefully.

I'd been behind him for quite some time before Mark was up my chuff, and got him into T1 but he got me on the switchback, I made a mistake and fell back. By letting Mark do the hard work, I got by him anyway.

Anyway. fun wee season, looking forward to something in the future - but I might need a few weeks off!

Thanks for hosting, really enjoyed racing these cars.

Well done Maikel on the championship well deserved and congratulations to my team mate who secure 3rd in the championship to ensure Team Shark are the team champions!

Another fun race.
Just managed to steal pole from Simon during qualifying  8)

Was struggling the first few laps, ended behind Michael but had some great close side by side action for a couple of laps.
A shame the gap with Simon was too big to really close by then, the car even decided it wanted to build some nice sandcastles out in the dunes.
Gratz to Simon for the win, consistent pace all race ( was rooting for a spin or two actually  :angel: )

Still something felt a little off with the Ferrari compared to last week.

I enjoyed the championship, these GT2 are abit more challenging and fun to drive  ;D

Oh wow, what an amazing incredible race. Usual story for me being about 3 - 4 seconds off the pace in practise sessions but for some bizzare reason, managed to qualify 4th with a 1.39 on mediums. Again, as per the last few races, made an amazing start and found myself up in second. Had an awesome battle with Maikel for around 6 laps including some incredible side by side racing but he eventually got me. It was then a case of holding the gap to Picnic but he closed in with about 10 laps to go. It was then having an incredible battle but I managed to keep 3rd.

You just can't believe how happy I am to get a podium. Totally over the moon right now. Thank you for an amazing championship. Sure was amazing fun.

The only issue I found tonight was I was having major downshift problems but only on a few corners. Never had this problem until tonight so I'm not sure if the update has done something.

Great race yesterday. And i am really happy with my newish pc build. Not quite finished yet, but at least i can enjoy stutter free racing again.

Relly enjoyed the GT2 ride, shame i could not do more races. Lack of setup time and a little nudge against the wall at Hugenholtz left the Vette a bit too understeery during the race. Somewhere half race distance i was running in 5th, with Mark closing in. Was looking behind where he was at the s/f straight when i completely missed my braking point. Ai ai caramba! There i was ploughing through the kitty litter at the Tarzan corner and lost two places. Well better luck next week i quess. Thanks all for racing.

Another one that didn't go my way! Was happy with 3rd but being on the outside and the long run to the first corner meant I wasn't expecting to keep it which was annoying. And so Michael managed to, somehow, not only get under me but Maikel as well! So the next few laps were a bit manic, watching Michael and Maikel trip over each other, trying not to hit them and keep out of there way, while Eck was trying to overtake me in every corner. So  I did try and go defensive into the first corner but also meant I couldn't drive the track normally as was trying to monitor the two in front. looks like most people got caught out by us spinning

So then began the rather intense fight back. Stefan looked kike he was going to be tough, in the Covette as well and not too different pace wise but managed to get past as he sailed into the first corner gravel trap. Garys BMW looked a right handful at times and was struggling to think how to get past without an enforced nudge but Gary seemed to be going straight on at the final chicane I tried to keep to the inside and managed to sneak through. Then thought how i'd been pushing all race and the tyres felt fine, and then almost fell off 3 times in the next lap. With 15 secs to Picnic I had to try and get tot he end with no one to chase.

Shame, on one hand these are over, but they are pretty tough to drive. I imagine between now and Xmas a number of races will be held to try out the new content and be ready to start a proper championship in the new year

Back from my Austrian escapades  :) sounds like you all had a good season finale which is great to hear. Been a good little series this. Well done to Maikel on the championship  :notworthy: shame JR bailed early on to give you a tougher time. I expect a few of the fast guys will return when we head back to a gt3 series.

Next up will be a race using the new content.  :) so expect a Porsche fest  :laugh:

Find the session time at the top of the screen distracting, when it was already available under a default app.

I've just read how to get rid of it:...

Go to your Assetto Corsa folder/system/cfg
open session_info.ini:

[OPTIONS]
PRATICE_VISIBLE=1
QUALIFY_VISIBLE=1
RACE_VISIBLE=1
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0,0.3
FONT_COLOR=1,1,1,1

change as required. 1 is on, 0 is off.
