If you are not qualified for Austin just make Falkenberg  ;D

Falkenberg is a very narrow track, without any easy possibility to overtake and a lap is about 40-42 seconds ...
I cannot imagine what could happen with 15 or 17 over excited drivers  :)
I think it will be harder to survive here than in Dundrod  :-\

So, if Jethros server is available we should run 2 grids ;)

UKGPL_9 for the lights
UKGPL_8 for the heavies

No matter how many drivers will show!

Its a go Cart track !

It's  a go OFF cart track!   Downloaded it the other day & had a few spins around the place;   only a few seconds of the pace then.

Probably won't make it;  unless Austin is finished by 21:30!

Cheers,
Dave.

Don't know how you've managed to miss it lo these many years, but there are these incredible new machines called "VCR"s that actually let you watch things later...  ::)

The Austin F1 race will start 20:00 UK time (21:00 CET) and will last ~1:45 h. (2013 the race lasted 1:40 h)

I presume most of us want to watch F1 live...

So I propose to start our Qualification 21:45 UK time for 20 min, Race will start ~ 22:10 UK time

I'm checking in late for the dance, and it turns out that the dance is late.  I registered late as this track is one a driver can really get his teeth into - must remember to bring the roller skates for my helmet! ;D

Bernie should have taken note of the time in the USA going back one hour, and hence, moving the F1 back one hour, to not interfere with our F2 race ::).

On a serious note, I'm surprised they didn't move it back one hour, it seems a very late time for the GP, with it being so dark now that we are out of DST. Unless it allows Australia/Asia to watch in the early morning?

They need to plant a few trees around these modern tracks to add visual interest.   The substitute in Britain seems to be commentary from an expresso junkie, while the audio style in north America is very laid back.  I suspect GPL got things right in '98. :D

Of coarse there are those of us who do not have the luxury of owning sky box's and therefore will be watching the GP "highlights" (assuming there are any worth watching in this age of artificial motor " racing " ) on "freeview" ( another misnomer,  as we all know there are no free lunch's these days )

Oh! hang on a mo .  GP highlights are being shown during the F2 race time  ::)

Hmmm ! my dilemma ,  watch GP?  or race this crummy track  ?

 :-\ :-\ :-\

Too late for me so will have to give this one a miss. Good luck to everyone else. For future reference any reason why we could not have stated before the Austin race? Particularly as I notice the practice server unusually popular right now while the Austin race is actually running ::)

By my timings, our F2 race will finish just after the BBC finish their pre-amble. I intend to have this over with by 22:40 at the latest.

BBC is online Bernie.  Pics not as large, but it's all available for 2hrs extra on a timeline slider.  BBC commentator is the one I described as over the Caffein limit, but it's also the fashion across the channel in ITV.  Mr. Brundle hinted at being pressured to add more hype, before going Skyward.  Hope the hype is not too hopped up there. ::)

This is bull****. People haven't discovered VCRs or whatnot (that people in the rest of the world have been using to deal with (to us) extreme early morning starts for F1 races and stuff) for decades??

It's not like the F1 schedule has been set for, what, a year? In advance? All public knowledge?

No, let's just "presume", not ask, what people want, and if pushing race start back an hour or more ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT IN QUESTION will be, perhaps, an INCONVENIENCE for people who have already scheduled the rest of their lives around a start time, well, just too bad for them because I wants to watch my racing liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive.

edit: I'm out of time, can't race now, got other stuff that I committed to when I thought this would be over by 5:30 my time, and don't want to be rude not showing up ON TIME. So have fun!!!

edit2: how do I lodge a protest against the entire event?

Got a screenfreeze after losing it under braking into T1, with about 17 laps to go. Was a fun race until then, but lost confidence while bottoming out towards T2, doing a 360, and car was rather unstable under braking...

Was fun racing with Greg and Iestyn up front ;)

Lonely race in 4th after I lost the draft from the front three, then became third, then not long afterwards inherited second.

I had a heavy dinner, and came along as a grid filler, as I knew we were thin.  Car insisted on bottoming out every 10th lap, and I failed to fix it.  Let it be known, I was not the phantom flasher at this race.  The dubious deed doer should be quietly informed.

Congrats to Izzy on the victory!  Well done, amigo!

Fine jobs by Jethro & Greg to nail down P2 & P3, respectively.

I was right!  Our F2 Lights race was more exciting than the COTA GP.  And, sadly, I'm largely responsible for it.  :(

A thousand pardons to Robert for mis-reading just how close you were to me coming up to finish the lap.  I'd seen you coming, of course, but reckoned that I'd get through the final complex in time to let you make the easy pass on the front straight without causing any significant delay in your drive.  Boy!  Did I get that wrong.  Only after committing to lead you into the complex did I become of aware of Iestyn hot on your tail in a battle for the lead.  It all set the stage for a clumsy lapping of a backmarker that put you in jeopardy.  To see you spin off in T1 had me ill.  So sorry that it resulted in a freeze for you.  No justice.

Congrats to DaveR - looks as though you owned the whole event;  despite a setback or two?

Maybe it was a remnant of Halloween,  but there did indeed seem to be a ghostly white apparition masquerading as a race entrant.  However,  it was not where it appeared to be but up the road - would be easier to catch a rainbow...

Unlucky Rog/Bernie,  looks as if you may have suffered as a result too.

Followed Bernie closely for what seemed most of the event - do you ever make make mistakes? :)
I certainly did...

Thin grid;  however - I think the split grid was for the best here.   I'd have hated to have been involved with any awkward situations with the Light guys - & they would have been coming up from behind fast & furious.

Cheers,
Dave.

Congrats Iestyn and Jethro! Both of you pressured me relentlessly at times. It's very unfortunate for Rob. He was in position for a possible win or easy 2nd.

That was a lot of fun until lap 30 and my foot started aching so bad I had to lift too much to relieve the pressure on it for a moment. I almost had to come to a complete stop to keep from spinning. I lost Iestyn's tow then but with my foot readjusted on the pedal, I was back to running as fast as I possibly could. I wish I would have concentrated on consistency instead of speed after that. Trying to break 41 and hoping to catch Iestyn, inevitably led to 3 spins in the second half of the race. With Jethro never giving up and being consistent, he was able to pass me after my final spin. I lost my discipline to be consistent in the 2nd half but I bet Jethro's happy I maintained enough to sit on the side of the track and wait until he passed. I so wanted to immediately get back on the track but I knew I'd likely wreck Jethro if I did.

That was some good racing guys. I enjoyed it and appreciate you letting me race with you. Thanks!

No worries Doni. Surely it helped Iestyn to close up, but lost it under braking myself and then my screen froze and sound pitched. Never had that before at Falkenberg, prolly just random stuff.

Not your fault at all ;)

Grats Iestyn, Jethro and Greg, and Dave R., Dave C. and Bernie for Heavy podium!

prolly just random stuff.

I've had different thoughts as to why this happens. My latest thoughts are that a tiny bit of data is lost or delayed in transmission and GPL chokes on the discrepancy. The previous weekend I had it happen at least twice but none at all this weekend. I also noticed my connection at Monaco was, by far, the worst I've seen yet. Igor chat was unusually slow to open the prior weekend too.

I am glad you got put in a good number of laps and get some good action before your untimely demise. There's nothing that frustrates me more than being knocked out early for any reason. Hopefully, I'll get to see a lot more of you the rest of the season since I now get to finish the season trying to do Jochen Rindt impersonations.

Just about recovered enough now after 50 odd laps of this go cart track , surprised to see what a fun track this is , early laps spent fending off Dave C's Lola and Martins LOL 'a which was getting up to some crazy antics , but nowhere near as crazy as Frans LOL'amora ( see what I did there  ;) )  After Dave R went lawn mowing I was doing fine fending the Lola's off while trying to chase Rog , then we came across the Phantom Lola which slowed Rog down as he tried to find a way past the phantom racer , I watched as Rog passed Francesco about 10 times only for the Lola to leap 500 yards ahead again so closed up carefully but as I got close and looking for a safe way through Rog slowed for the phantom and we had the lightest of touches sending me off . After that my car was never the same , spent the rest of the race fending off Dave C after I had  slowed up on the straight with the idea to let him by in the hope he could catch dave R up and keep him busy but plan B went out the window when he nudged me up the exhaust pipes as if to say " not buying that old lemon matey " ( that's gratitude for you ) so decided to soldier on with Dave paying close attention most of the afternoon before he finally made a great pass going into T1 .

Great fun while it lasted

Grats to the come back King , Dave R Grats &  thanks Dave C for being such a gentleman racer

salutations for them what fell by the wayside .

Just about recovered enough now to do the Spa race tonight , at least there's a decent straight where one can take a breather and dunk a biscuit or two  ;)
