Very, very sorry all. I should take a warning or something for that as it could have caused absolute chaos. Luckily Gazza and the people behind kept moving to prevent the Field from stopping completely.
LOL, actually we all did come to a stop, some touching others in the confusion. I thought your car had frozen and the people ahead didn't seem to want to go by. Was mayhem I tell you, mayhem.
Well done on your pace though, coming back after that awful start to win was a job well done.
Decided to take the F430, cobbled together a setup during practice and qually sessions and had a really enjoyable race battling with loads of people. There was some very competitive stuff with Evert (hope it wasn't "too" competitive, as we touched a couple of times in racing incidents) for a while then as the first half of the race went on I got faster and faster on my soft slicks eventually taking the lead before the pit stops.
I figured the Ferrari had reasonable fuel consumption so expected to be in a good position after the pits deciding to get a new pair of soft slicks again for the second stint as the tyre wear was ok. As the track dried and the car pace was the overwhelming factor, the Z4s and Hals Viper started getting faster than me and it seemed like it might be a losing battle against them after all that hard work overtaking them all in the damp conditions.
Still effectively in the lead in the second half (as others hadn't pitted yet), I came up to lap someone and as he let me through I hit a damp patch on the inside, locked the rears and spun right in front of him. Very sorry to scare you, it scared me too LOL!
That lost me any chance of winning as the gap was suddenly reduced and the 430 was too slow to hold them off. Then as Hal overtook me into T1 for the lead we touched and I went off into the gravel which put me behind arch-nemesis TrueTom.
I then drove as fast as I could to catch TT and with a lap to go I could see he was either really struggling or had once again forgotten to pay his fuel bill.
Wasn't sure which it was so when I got close I went for it. His car ran out of fuel on the last corner anyway, so I guess I could have waited.
The Ferrari 430 GTC is a really nice car to drive compared to the 360. It feels a little bit sluggish on acceleration and a bit on top end speed (I had 6 rear wing even in the wet!), but it handles nicely, is much more controllable on the brakes than the 360 is and it's the first new engine noise I actually loved. In the damp it was comfortable which is a good place to be. In the dry it was still comfortable but just lacked a little bit of bite, if you know what I mean.
