My qually was horrible, only after my 4th attempt or so did I put a lap in.
Start was the same as the people around me, but I had to take La Source a lot tighter, so my car bogged down a bit there. Had Felix and nfsw right behind me before Eau Rouge, but was able to stay ahead with the help of a push
. Got a bit of a draft on the Kemmel straight, but couldn't get alongside Matteo.
I then expected Matteo to drive off, but I was able to get closer a few laps later. I gained a lot in Les Combes, but it was very hard to stay closer as these cars seem to suffer a lot from driving in the draft. At one point I was right behind Matteo through Eau Rouge, and my car didn't steer in and the front just lifted off the ground
.
Had some great side by side action with Matteo as well. I overtook him at Les Combes, obly to get drafted past the next lap at the same place. I then got on the dirty stuff, which gave Felix a run on me and I got the Alonso/Palmer treatment in Rivage
. Can't remember how I got past Felix, but I was within a second of Matteo most of the time.
I was about to say, he never buckeled under pressure, but then in the penultimate lap, he spun, gifting me second place.
Great pace Maikel, guess we need to step it up a lot next round.
Dont take the hard tyres! completly changed the car, was 2 secs off and they would turn green and then cool down again during the lap
May I ask why you opted for the hards? I saw somebody go for it during practice, but I thought it was a mistake.
Sorry I bailed, helped shift 200+ hay bales on Sunday and today it seems to have caught up with me. I can hardly move my left shoulder now. Once I crashed out I took the easy option. Good racing until then Shark and Postal
You aren't 18 anymore Pete
.
Maybe it was the big track but for me, 45minutes in a grid of 15 cars is 15minutes too long.
I spent at least half the race just trying to maintain some focus to stay on track as my mind kept wandering to other things without any competition on track. It was dull, we need either more cars or a slightly shorter race.
Great suggestion, let me just get some more cars
. Depending on who joins, there could be more people next week, but this week we had 2 people I didn't expect.
Not going to shorten the races after 1 round. For me the laps flew by as I was constantly chasing somebody and if the race was 30 minutes, I wouldn't have been 2nd.
In the GTR2 days, we did 40 minute races, which were called sprints
. Races of 30 minutes are really short for cars that are quite simple to drive, like these. That's more suitable for the classic cars, which will make a 30 minute race feel a lot tougher.
