Congrats to Gizmo. Don't know how you drove that and got no incidents at all!
Heh heh, that was my introduction to LM road racing at Christman when the ORO chaps ran a fun race. I'm not sure which one of them supplied the setup but I didn't do much to it back then, and then for tonight I just filled the tank and raised the ride height all round to compensate for the extra weight.
Car felt alien for the first few laps of practice but once it started to click I was unstoppable. My times tumbled and with the fuel out for qualifying I banged in a set of increasingly quick laps to grab pole by a fair margin.
I've never been good at launching these cars so it wasn't a surprise to see Paul grab the lead briefly into Paddock Hill before I braved it out up the hill and held the inside at Druids to regain the lead. I'm guessing we had different gearing because out of Surtees I stormed away up the hill, and once Paul had slid off coming out of Clark curve at the end of lap 1 I was never under any pressure and just gently pulled away from Ken and later Bernie Lomax.
Had one "oops" moment when lapping Don - was in two minds about whether to storm past into Stirling's and then found myself going in a bit too hot and effectivey forcing him onto the dirt on the outside as I ran in a little too deep.
Other than that the car felt great all race, and other than a couple of locked brakes late on in the fast corners of the GP loop and getting up on two wheels once or twice in Westfield and Sheene it just flowed beautifully from corner to corner.
Nice to get a win after yesterday's disaster at Infineon!
p.s. I've heard a rumor that somebody somewhere races these things on road tracks regularly... can anybody point me in their direction please?

Warning! Some of those guys are 2+ seconds a lap quicker than me at most tracks.
